Birthday Girl

*TING* *TING* *TING*

"If I could get everyone's attention." A deep voice said. Everyone looked towards the balcony and saw the king standing there in a red and white tuxedo with his cape draped behind him.

"Today is a very special day which brought all of us together. Firstly I'd like to thank everyone who came here. Taking time away from your nights to be here in honor of my daughter. Next, the families on the VIP list. Fredrick and Diana Leonhart along with their two sons, Oliver and Leonidas Leonhart." He said pointing towards them.

At this point they had already gathered together so people would see them easily. They waved at everyone and the king continued.

"Next, I'd like to thank the Kuiper family from the Kingdom of Frost." He added pointing towards a family of exotic looking people.

A tall woman with a slim figure around the same as Leonidas's mother was standing and waving. She had pale white skin and hair of the same color. Her amber eyes shined as she looked across the ballroom.

Standing next to her was a man with snow white hair, he was around 6'0 and you could tell he was muscular even though he wore an ice blue tuxedo. His eyes were blood red and sharp almost like he was judging everyone there.

He gave off quite the dangerous aura.

In the arms of the mother, there was a two year old girl. She looked shy and had a big head with a small body. She had big kitten-like eyes that were a completely different color from her family members. Her eyes were both purple and they sparkled like gems. She was extremely adorable.

Lastly there was Ashton. He was the same height as Leonidas, which was 4'11. He had messy snow white hair like his father and blood red eyes. His eyes were almond shaped, they weren't sharp, but they weren't round. He also had snow white skin.

All in all they were beautiful. Even on par with the royal elves.

"Thank you for making the long trip from Glailand to Sapin." The king said with a nod. The man nodded back with a grin and they continued.

"On another note, we're here to celebrate two things today. While it is my daughter's birthday, it's also the day of her manifestation!!" The king announced with a huge smile.

"What?!"

"Really??"

"Just at the age of four?!"

"That's insane!!"

"Settle down everyone. This is truly an amazing day, but let's not forget that before any of that, today is the day my daughter was brought into this world. Let's give my daughter, Kathlyn Glayder, a round of applause everyone!!" He said as he turned around and everyone erupted into applause.

Coming down the stairs in a lavender colored dress was Kathlyn. She had glossy black hair that stopped just at her shoulders with curly ends that went over her shoulder. She was shorter than the average four year old girl standing at 3'7 and had porcelain, white skin.

She had big, round, dark eyes and even as a lid she had thick lashes. She looked really shy as she clutched her mothers hand as she came down the steps.

Speaking of her mother, she seemed to be a spitting image of her. She was just older. She was average height for a woman and had porcelain, whiye skin. She had dark eyes that showed a slight shade of teal in them and she had a kind smile.

She wore a dress that matched Kathlyn's and helped her get down the stairs.

"Everyone enjoy your night and have fun!" The king said as they came down to the crowd.

Immediately following that everyone clapped and went back to talking. The main topic was about how the Dukes family and the royal family could be giving birth to such geniuses.

Everyone had their own thoughts, but the nasty ones were kept to themselves. Leonidas had asked if he could step outside and his parents thought about it for a moment before telling him that he'd have to come back inside after three minutes.

After all, he would have to talk to the royal family.

Leonidas was able to scurry his way towards the door giving a quick "hey" and "hello" to those who greeted him. He was able to get to the door and the guards let him out after being told he was allowed to get some fresh air.

Now, Leonidas stands outside on the stairs that lead up to the door as he leaned on the railing. The sky was dark with not a single star in the sky. It was nice and warm outside and that weather was accompanied by a light breeze.

'Start playing Remember The Time by Michael Jackson.' He said mentally. He heard the beat start up and closed his eyes. Although he was a bit bummed that he couldn't see the music video he was still satisfied.

As the song started playing he started snapping, tapping his feet and bobbing his head.

"Do you remember the time, when we first met g-"

"A few minutes ago, right?"

Leonidas jumped up from surprise. He turned around and breathed out a heavy sigh.

"God. I almost had a heart attack." He said as he looked at Ashton who was smiling.

"You seemed to be enjoying yourself. For some reason I didn't like how peaceful you looked while I had to suffer." He replied.

"Tch." Leonidas clicked his tongue as he mentally paused his music.

"Anyways, your parents are calling for you. We have to meet the royal family." He explained.

Leonidas started fixing his tuxedo and sighed.

"You too huh? Are you like a high ranking noble in your kingdom?" Leonidas asked.

"Something like that." Ashton answered.

With a sigh, Leonidas and Ashton walked back inside the ballroom. Ashton led Leonidas off to the side and there they were. The royal family, the Duke and Duchess, and finally the Kuiper's family.

"As I was saying, this is my son, Leonidas." Diana said with a smile. Leonidas smiled and waved at them.

"Nice to meet you Leonidas. I'm Mia Kuiper. Nice to meet you." She said with her hand out. He gently shook her hand and spoke.

"Nice to meet you too. As you know my name is Leonidas Leonhart and I turned four two weeks ago." He said.

"I see. This is my husband Cedric. My daughter Adele and you've already met my son, Ashton." She said introducing her family. He nodded at them and looked over to the king.

"You don't remember me, but we met when you were around a few days old. You might already know this, but I'm Blain Glayder. The king of Sapin. This is my wife, Priscilla Glayder, the queen. This is Curtis Glayder, my first child and only son. Last but not least, the birthday girl and my only daughter, Kathlyn Glayder." He said.

"Nice to meet you Leonidas. I hope you grow up and be just as much of a challenge as your brother." Curtis said as he put his hand out.

Leonidas shook it and replied.

"I'll be just as hard working." He said with an awkward laugh. He turned his head towards Kathlyn who seemed to gather her courage to speak.

"H-hello. I'm Kathlyn Glayder." She said in a meek voice. She stood there shyly. Both Ashton and Leonidas gave a small smile and put their hands out.

""Pleasure to meet you, princess."" They both said in unison. Kathlyn looked at her hands and crossed them over as they shook hands together.

The interaction made the parents laugh as they began talking. They gave the children the okay to go off on their own since there would be a guard watching them secretly.

"So Kathlyn, are you an augmentor or conjurer?" Leonidas asked.

"My dad said I was a conjurer. What about you?" She asked.

"I haven't manifested my core yet." Leonidas answered as he scratched his neck.

"Oh, sorry." She said with her head down.

"You don't have to be shy. After all, our parents most likely planned this out on purpose." Ashton said as he had his hands behind his head.

"Yeah. Most likely some scheme to make us the best of friends or something." Leonidas added with a laugh.

"The crazy part is that it's working." Ashton added as they laughed together. Kathlyn had a smile on her face, but that faded when someone bumped into Leonidas.

She went back to her shy and uncomfortable demeanor. The guy responsible turned around and said he was sorry in a hurried and nervous voice as Leonidas brushed it off.

He looked over and saw that Kathlyn was uncomfortable so he and Ashton got an idea.

"Let's go outside. It's way better than this crowded ballroom." Leonidas said.

"Yeah, and we can reminisce about the time we first met." Ashton said with a chuckle.

Leonidas sighed heavily as they walked outside.

"Basically we Ice Folk have an innate control over Ice. It basically means we don't have to have the water affinity to use Ice magic. We also have better control over it than most trained professionals." Ashton explained.

"I see. So you're cheating?" Leonidas wondered.

"What type of affinity do you have?" Leonidas asked Kathlyn.

"The crystals said I'd have Water and Wind." She answered.

"So with enough practice you could get Ice and Sound." Leonidas replied.

"What affinities do you want when you manifest your core?" She asked.

"I'd like fire and maybe water. It seems we all might be duel mages." Leonidas said.

"Eh, when did I say I had two affinities?" Ashton asked.

"When we first spoke and I asked about your other affinities, you only said you can't reveal that information, so I assumed you had another since you didn't deny it." Leonidas explained.

"I see. Well I do have another one, but it's a secret." He said.

"Of course it is."

"Ah, right. Do you have some communication scrolls?" Leonidas asked.

"Yeah, I have tons." Leonidas answered as he looked at Kathlyn.

'Of course she has some.' He thought.

"How about after we leave we can just call each other through the scrolls? It's the best way to keep in contact since we won't exactly be close to each other." Leonidas suggested.

Communication scrolls were basically magical FaceTime papers.

"I can do that, but I'll be training a lot. My family is very strict when it comes to my training since they want me to turn into a 'strong, dependable, strapping young man'."

"Sounds like my parents as well." Leonidas said.

"Kathlyn, how about you?"

"Umm, I can ask." She said.

"I see." Leonidas replied.

They heard the sound of the door opening behind them and they turned around.

"It's getting to be about time to leave, so if you would follow me inside." Said a butler.

They all nodded as they stood up and followed the butler inside. They were let through and after the goodbyes the ballroom was cleared. The only people left were the VIP's.

"We'll get going then." Diana said as she saw Leonidas's half shut eyes. Kathlyn had already fallen asleep, but she got permission from her parents to use communication scrolls whenever she liked.

"It was nice meeting you. We'll be in the city for a few weeks before leaving so you can visit whenever." Mia said to Diana and Priscilla. Cedric, Blain and Fredrick shook hands as they got ready to depart.

The butlers and maids cleaned up the ballroom and everyone happily went to sleep.
