Chapter 11

“So I’ve come to offer you employment. It doesn’t pay very much, but you’ll have your meals and accommodation taken care of. And you can begin to repay me the money you owe.”

“Work for you?” Nathan growled. “I’d rather rot.”

“Judging by the ripeness of your body odour, I’d say that process is already well underway,” quipped Leroy. “If you decide to accept my kind offer, and let’s face it how could you not, we’ll have to leave immediately.”

Nathan abhorred Leroy with every cell in his body. If he stood half a chance, he would’ve hauled back and busted him one.

“Why would I spend any more time with you than was absolutely necessary?” asked Nathan. “I tried to run out on a debt and you got me. You got me really good. You’ve totally fucked up my entire life. Why would I want…?”

A deep rumbling growl rolled out of Leroy’s mouth. It was enough to pour water on the flames of Nathan’s rage.

“Then our business is done,” said Leroy, turning and walking towards the open bedroom door.
