The ball is in our court

Everything concluded into a happy ending today. Mother succeeded calming Amber down and she accepted the fate of Eve and when mother assured her that she won't let Amber do anything wrong, Amber gave up thinking about how her future will turn out.

Am I glad she is alright with Eve being a witch or it would have been very difficult to keep calm face in front of Eve knowing Amber panicking about it. Now, she can perform whatever magic she can and mother is gonna teach her only good magic.

Everything is sorted now except for one.

" Mother you have solved every problem and had solutions for each situation. What about Eve ? "

I asked concerned.

" What about her Ethan ? "

Mother asked confused.

" She is growing at a very fast speed. When will it slow down ? When will she start growing normally ? And how long we... "

I couldn't make myself say the remaining words.

The horrible thought clenched my stomach and made it hard to breathe. Everyone was concerned about how long will we have her with us considering her rate of growth.

Mother came to me and hugged me. I badly wanted to cry but...

" Realx my dear. She is not gonna leave you guys anytime soon. She is immortal just like you guys are. She just isn't frozen, unlike you guys ! "

Mother said caressing.

What ? She is an immortal ? She won't be leaving us ? Happiness seeped deep inside my heart listening to mother's words.

" Are you sure mother ? "

Amber asked doubtfully.

" Ofcourse baby. She is a witch for god's sake ! "

Mother said scoffing.

" But then why is she growing this fast ? "

I asked.

" Exactly. "

Amber said impatiently.

" She is gaining her full age of adulthood and then she will stop growing, don't worry. "

Mother said caressing Amber's face assuring her.

" Are you sure mother ? "

Amber asked hopefully.

" Of course my child. All the born witches grow up like this. Even I grew up within a year or two and since then I am like this. I don't age; I am not frozen either ! "

Mother said wiping Amber's tears.

Amber hugged mother tightly and started crying with overwhelming happiness.

" Don't cry my child everything is good now. And don't worry she won't change even a bit when she'll grow up. She will be the same compassionate and loving Evelyn. "

Mother said caressing her back softly.

Thank god that won't happen what we feared the most from her birth itself.

" But mother, I feel left out alone ! "

Amber said wiping her tears.

" What do you mean ? "

I asked confused.

" You both are immortals, mother too is an immortal and just now we discovered that Eve too is an immortal. So, it leaves me only to die soon and leave you all !

Mother, I don't want to leave my daughter behind and die. I just got her and I will die soon and she won't even age !

I don't want to leave my partners or my daughter mother. "

Amber said impatiently.

Well, she does have a point. We all are immortals and only she is a mortal. Though the thought of loosing her have crossed my mind numerous times but I didn't came up with a solution. Maybe mother have some solution for the situation we got here.

Even I don't want her to leave us. And no matter how we sugar coat it, she is gonna die in a few years. Though she is only in her mind twenties, we have been existing for an eternity now and a few decades isn't much of a long time period for us !

Well, the thought of turning her into one of us crossed my mind many times but I didn't dare give the thought words. If I had said it Kevin and Amber would have chewed me out to perform it and if, I had denied anyway, Kevin would have turned her !

I did wanted her to be with me till my last breath but I didn't wanted to turn her into a blood-sucking monster just like us and live in the guilt of killing or hurting innocents.

I know how soft-hearted she is. She didn't wanted Kevin to hurt Tyler even when, he had destroyed her parent's only memory she had. Then, how in the hell would she survive the thought of, she killing innocents for her own existence ?

And that's why I haven't brought up the topic of her existence till now. But now that she brought it up, I can't run away from it now.

" Calm down my child, you won't leave your loved ones anytime soon. You have the right to spend an eternity with your family. I didn't get the chance but I won't keep you from having it ! "

Mother said caressing her head.

What is she doing ? Is she really gonna turn her into a vampire ? Though she'd be happy to be with her own family, it will kill her brick by brick accusing herself for destroying the other's families.

" Really mother ? "

Amber said crying happily at the thought of being with us forever.

" Really my child. "

Mother said wiping her tears.

" Mother, don't. "

I said.

" What don't ? Don't you want me to be with you forever ? Are you talking about letting me go; this time forever ? "

Amber asked feeling hurt by my words.

" No darling, I didn't mean it that way. What I am saying is, turning you into a vampire is gonna make you hurt or kill people to sate your desire are you ready to kill innocent for your existential sake ? "

I told her what was on my mind.

She started thinking on my words and didn't say anything. I know her more than she does ! I know she can never do that.

" You don't have to worry about killing or hurting someone Amber. "

Mother said rolling her eyes at me.

" Mother, don't give her false hopes ! You don't know her, I do ! She would never be at ease at the thought of killing the innocents. "

I said trying to stop mother.

" Maybe I don't know her; but you don't know me ! You don't know my power. Turning her into an immortal doesn't compulsively mean I need to turn her into a VAMPIRE ! "

Mother said smirking meaningfully at Kevin.

He raised his eyebrows in confusion and when it hit him what is mother saying, he rushed to Amber and took her out of mother's embrace and stood infront of her.

" You won't do anything like that mother ! "

Kevin said clenching his jaw.

" What now ? "

Amber asked confused.

I know what is mother doing and why is Kevin this protective towards her. He knows how bad it hurts while turning on a full moon night.

" I will get her the moon pendant to save her from the discomfort and this way she wouldn't have to kill any innocent, she can have the human food ! "

Mother said shrugging.

Though she is right, but turning her into a werewolf, my heart isn't ready to accept it. I know this is the best option she have. The moon pendant won't let her feel any pain and keep her mind sane !

But turning her into a werewolf means she will get more close to Kevin physiologically and I don't want that to happen !

" But mother she will have to wander as a wolf for a few months in the beginning, till the transformation is complete before she could turn into her human form again !

Kevin told mother.

" Then be with her for that time, simple ! "

Mother said.

How could she not think of me and my possessive self ? How in the hell am I gonna be ok with she being away from me for a few months and at the same time, Kevin being with her 24*7 ?

" Listen boys, you have to pick ! She must become either of it to become an immortal and stay with you till your very last breath. The choice is yours.

What do you want to choose Amber ? The ball is in your court. Think carefully and tell me. "

Mother said and left the three of us to discuss.
