Little monster not little anymore

Eve have grown super fast within a year. Tomorrow is her first birthday and she looks like an adult already !

I never thought I will miss watching her as a kid, crawling in the entire home. Jumping and clapping when, I spun her in hyperlapse mode. Pouting innocently when, I didn't listen to her. Sulking when, I didn't get her, her favorite chocolates !

My baby is a grown-up now. But thank god she haven't lost her innocence while growing up. Well, I won't call it growing up. She have finished almost twenty years in a single ! She didn't even get to grow up properly.

Thanks to Steve for highlighting that, we had very less time to spend with her as a child and so, we should cherish her atmost when we still have the time than, crying after she grew up that, we should have enjoyed the moments when we had then !

He made us realize that time was slipping way too fast and though we can't stop the time from passing by but we can live life a little bit more in whatever time we have got !

And that's when we stopped worrying about her fast growth and focused on cherishing her childhood; just for a few months !

We had a great time during the whole year. I still remember, we all used to fight and almost ready to kill the others to get Eve to ourselves to adore her, love her, play with her and bond with her. Our intention wasn't pure though !

Yes, we loved her more than our lives but we wanted her whole time and prove it to her that, we love her the most and gain the trust and love for us in her heart so that, she will tell everyone she loves us more than the others !

And this feeling was way too strong from Kevin's and my side to make ourselves her favorite so that, she would choose us over the other as, we are way too possessive for her as well !

I am glad we didn't reach the level to rip each other's throats out while wanting her to love us and not the other.

I do feel bad that we have made Eve too fade up of our possessiveness towards her along with Amber. They are our victims and now, they have become alliances against us !

They save each other from us. When we trouble the one; in mother's words harass the one, the other comes to her rescue !

" Ethan Dad. "

Eve said hugging me from behind.

" Yes, my darling ? "

I said resting my head over her.

" I was looking for you. "

She said innocently.

" Oh dear, I am so sorry I wasn't there when you needed me. What's wrong, baby ? Did something happened ? "

I asked turning around and hugging her softly.

" No Dad. Nothings wrong, I just wanted to spend some time with you. "

She said innocently.

I know she is innocent but not THIS much ! Whenever she wants to spend time with me, she just barges into my room without even knocking and now she is acting coyly ? Something is fishy here !

" Now what have you done, you little monster ? "

I said pinching her ear.

" Ouch !

Ethan Dad, it hurts ! "

She said trying to get my hand off her ear.

" I was practicing and kinda... broke Mom's car. "

She said closing her eyes shut and pulling her shoulders up as if, I was gonna hit her !

" You did WHAT ? "

I said shocked.

" I didn't do it on purpose Ethan Dad ! "

She said getting mad.

What the hell ! SHE is the one who broke the car and SHE is getting at me ? What did I do that, she is mad at ME ?

" Hello there ? Why am I the one getting scolded by you when, YOU are the one who is the culprit, young lady ? "

I said crossing my arms.

" I am sorry Ethan Dad, you know I raise my voice when I get panicked. "

She said making a puppy face.

" Like father like daughter ! Don't you resemble Kevin more than you should ? "

I said rolling my eyes.

" Daaaad ! It's not the time to discuss this ! Save my ass ! "

She said frustrated.

" Who the hell taught you these words ? You will NOT use curse words nor will you use bad words, understand ? "

I said scolding her.

I already know who taught her that, none other than the most frustrated vampire of the house, Daniel ! I am gonna break his ass.

" I am sorry Dad. But please save me from Mom. "

She said innocently.

" What do you want me to do ? "

I asked.

" Get the car fixed ! "

She said as if, I am so stupid that I can't even understand the obvious.

People don't lie when they say, children look down on you when they grow up !

And mine is just a year old; she will be tomorrow to be specific. What will she do when, she will grow up ?

" Can't you use your magic to make it new ? "

I suggested.

" Oh ! Why didn't that thought crossed MY mind ?"

She said to herself.

" Because I am your father and you will not look down on me, darling ! "

I said.

I have never felt offended by anyone's words or shall I say nobody dared to do it in front of me. But her words offended me !

" I am so sorry Ethan Dad I won't say anything stupid again. "

She said pouting innocently.

" It's alright baby. Go and fix it now. And try not to break things. Because when she highlights what you did, you get offended and then sulk hard for she said that to you ! "

I said hugging her.

" Yeah, I will try next time. "

She said.

" Go and fix it before she returns. "

I said.

She ran and did something and Amber's car was as good as new !

I am so proud of her. I have seen mother doing mind-blowing things but when I see Eve do them, it just makes me feel proud of her. Her actions make me gaze at her in awe and smile like an idiot.

When I told this to Amber, she said she feels the same way and so does Kevin. So, that means I am not the only idiot doing this and it seems some parent's thing !

Amber and mother returned from Suzy's place and of course Daniel stayed. I cooked dinner for the ladies and mother created a bonfire and we sat around it chatting.

It was almost 12 at midnight and Eve was sleepy so, I brought the cake and she cut it. We all wished her a very happy birthday.

" Here sugar, your gift. "

Steve handed her a box.

She opened it and there was a butterfly necklace. The one she wanted so bad, she didn't talked to him for almost a week because he said he will get it for her birthday, a few months ago !

She saw it and started jumping excitedly just like she used to when she was little. We all got very happy to see her that version once again. We were adoring her.

"Thank you so much uncle Steve, I can't believe you still remember it ! "

She hugged him jumping and kissed his cheek.

"Of course, I remember. How can I forget it ? It costed me a silent treatment from you, for entire week ! "

Steve hugged her back giggling.

He was happy as well to see her this happy.

" Our turn now ! "

Mother said.

She and Amber handed her a very small box. I wonder what's in it ?

" What's this granny ? "

Eve asked.

" First open it. "

Amber said.

Eve opened it and there was a key in it.

" What's it of ? "

Eve asked confused.

" Come with us. "

Mother grabbed her hand and we went inside.

Mother took her to the room that we don't use. We don't need to as, there are more rooms than people in the house !

" What's this ? "

Eve asked confused.

" It's your room from now on ! "

Amber said opening the door of the room.

And it was decorated so nicely and colored with Eve's favorite colors. All her favorite toys were there. Her dream bed was there, just the way she had once described to us ! Everything was just the way she wanted.

" Oh my god ! "

Eve shrieked in happiness and started jumping once again and hugged mother and Amber and those two grown-ass women jumped with her !

" Thanks Mom, thanks granny. "

She yelled happily and ran inside the room.

She scanned the entire room and her smile wasn't ready to fade anytime soon. We all were so happy to see her happy and smiling like that.

" Guys, you got all the best gifts for her, nothing's left for us now ! Right Ethan ? Or you got her something and I am the only one who didn't got anything for her ? "

Kevin asked.

" No brother you are not the only one. I am with you. I couldn't think of anything and so, I didn't got anything.

I am sorry darling, I couldn't think of anything. Tell me what do you want ? I will get it for you."

I said grabbing her hand softly.

" Yeah, me too ! "

Kevin said grabbing her other hand.

Copycat, rascal !

" Can I ask you for something ? Only you two can give it to me and nobody else. And you two have to give it to me together. So, please don't get started on who's gift is better ? "

Eve said pleading us.

And nobody could contain their laughter at her words.

" Ok, we won't ! What do you want ? "

We asked together laughing.

" I want you to meet someone. "

Eve said looking at Amber and mother.
