At the backyard of the Qu's Mansion, Xiotan and Jinxin were stealthily searching for a way to sneak back in unnoticed.
Inside the mansion, Fie was asking about Xiotan, eager to discuss her upcoming wedding.
"Where is Xiotan?" Fie inquired of Lifie, who was on her way to check on their daughter.
"I don't know. I'm about to check on her in her room. She mentioned this morning that she wasn't feeling well."
"She better recover quickly. Her wedding is in three days," Fie insisted.
"What! Three days? That's too soon. What's wrong with you, Fie? Do you hate your own daughter so much? You didn't even give her a chance to think or make her own choices. She's sick, and all you care about is your plans. You don't even know who her groom is, just that he's from the Mo family. You should be ashamed of yourself. You don't even know what kind of man he is and you want her to marry him? You're shameless," Lifie reprimanded, hissing at him.
"Enough with your lectures," Fie retorted. "I told you from the start I wouldn't accept that girl. I advised you to get rid of her when you were pregnant, but you chose to keep her. Now you should be grateful I'm arranging a marriage for her. Who would want to marry a concubine's daughter? Nobody, not even a blind man. She's a mistake I regret."
Lifie's anger flared, and she slapped Fie hard, tears streaming down her face. "Who's a mistake? How dare you call her that? Were you blind when you were with me? Have you forgotten she once saved your life? You'd be gone without her. I never knew you were like this. You disgust me. Let this be the last warning. If you ever call my daughter a mistake again, you'll regret the day you were born. Mark my words."
With that, Lifie wiped her tears and headed upstairs to Xiotan's room.
