Over the next 4 days, Kai continued practicing different combinations and recording their results, slowly coming up with decent tactics against different types of enemies. Each day, he would enter the Training Chambers with a bit of food and some blood after purchasing the tickets from the Flame Squad, and only left at night when the timer ran out and he had to leave.
After the four days, Kai took a [Deer-Liver Potion] again and repeated this process until he had successfully come up with strategies for all sorts of enemies based on the spells he had recorded within the system from the Spell hall.
This way, if he encountered any Rank 0 apprentice from the Bluestone Sect, he should in theory be able to take them down without any effort. Of course, this entire thing depended on the system analysing the spell the enemy was using, then calculating the best possible spell to use in that situation, and then Kai being able to perform that spell in the given period of time.
Therefore, Kai did not stop practicing the more common combinations of spells which were more likely to be used together for no other reason other than making it muscle memory for his body to activate certain spells in a certain order almost immediately.
Other than this, Kai also spent time brewing more [Deer-Liver Potion]s every now and then, in order to restock on his wealth. Due to him practicing the activation of his spells in various combinations, Kai noticed that there was a gradual improvement in the speed of activation, and a reduction in the amount of Spiritual Energy he needed to activate the spells.
On the other hand, Yu spent most of his days crating Fireball scrolls. Over the course of time, Yu's success rate had grown to him being able to produce 2 successful scrolls from every 5 attempts, resulting in his own personal wealth also rapidly increasing.
Half a year passed and Yu had been able to purchase 5 spells for himself, which he had yet to learn. The reason? He did not have enough Spiritual Energy to learn them all. These spells were all spells that existed within the Bluestone Sect but were slightly different from the ones Kai had selected, the simple reason for that was because the Santok Empire had fewer spells compared to the Hepis Dynasty; where the Bluestone Sect was situated.
Yu had deduced that the Santok Empire was considerably backward compared to the Hepis Dynasty in terms of Magic, not just because of the lack of variety of spells, but also due to the lack of spells of certain types like Blood.
Such an affinity simply did not exist in this Empire. Furthermore, the potions were kept as an extremely valuable resource, only to be used by the official Magi. Compared to the Bluestone Sect, this did indeed seem backward.
Due to the lack of potions, Yu's growth in Spiritual Energy had been extremely slow. He had only got enough to learn 4 spells, which was not nearly enough for his needs.
However, despite his lack of having learnt even a single spell and becoming a Rank 0 Apprentice, Yu's status within the Santok Mage Tower had considerably improved due to his higher success rate compared to others, as well as him being able to create spell scrolls of Fireball, Waterball, Healing Spring and Weakness. All four were extremely useful scrolls to the Santok Empire in practical combat.
On the other hand, Kai had reached some sort of a bottleneck. Or perhaps it was some sort of resistance to drinking the potion too much, but Kai's Spiritual energy had stopped growing after he had collected enough to learn 6 Rank 1 spells. Essentially, he was just a bit away from reaching Rank 2 Spiritual Energy, and being able to learn all 7 of his Rank 1 spells; thus, becoming a Rank 1 Mage.
However, due to the [Deer-Liver Potions no longer having much of an effect on him, Kai could not take that final step. Based on the system's calculations, there were impurities left behind by the potion in his body, and in order for the potion to have an effect again, he would have to wait until it was expelled.
Done naturally, this process would at least take a few years. Alternatively, Kai could consume cleansing potions. However, for it to work on him, the potion would most likely have to be at least Rank 2, making it incredibly expensive.
Furthermore, the recipe for such a potion did not exist within the Bluestone Sect. Ultimately, Kai could only give up on trying to rapidly grow his strength by reaching Rank 1. Furthermore, it was now that his mentor and teacher; Madam Aria, the Rank 2 Mage contacted him.
"It has already been a year since you came to the sect, and it is now time for all the direct disciples to go on their respective missions. Here is yours. It should not be too dangerous considering its restrictions but do be careful. I don't want to lose a promising disciple within just half a year. Go to the reception and tell them your name."
Madam Aria casually flipped her hand, and a scroll appeared, which she tossed over to Kai, who carefully accepted the scroll and left the room, thanking Madam Aria in the process.
Once he was out, he frowned as he began reading the scroll.
