The ink stick moved in a circular motion as Xiaoling lifelessly ground ink. Nothing she did took her mind off Weisheng's strange behavior. She wondered if it was the curse that made Weisheng act like that. Exhaling in frustration, she set the ink stick aside and grabbed the brush to dip it in the dark, viscous ink.

Suddenly, someone knocked at the door. Xiaoling set the brush aside and called them in. Ru walked inside, out of breath.

"What's wrong?" Xiaoling asked with a concerning tone.

"Um…" Ru cleared his throat and exhaled nervously, "During their regular training, Mr. Yuan injured Young Miss Qiang. She is resting now. We left Mr. Yuan in the courtyard. He seemed to have been influenced by the curse. I went outside to check up on him, but he's nowhere to be seen."

Xiaoling narrowed her eyes, "Impossible."
