Life Before The Curse

Xiaoling dropped Weisheng at her residence before driving away to somewhere else. Before leaving, she asked Ru to keep an eye on Weisheng. Weisheng followed Ru to the living room, where everyone was seated.

Weisheng took his seat. He looked confused and lost.

"So…" Hai murmured cautiously, "What happened?"

"He got busted," Ru said nonchalantly, "It might be because I went to the Heaven Realm, and Spiritual Weapons are blunt there. Maybe it lost its effect."

Weisheng looked surprised at Ru, "So, he remembered me?"

Ru nodded, "Was he not specific about it?"

Weisheng slowly shook his head in confusion, "If he remembered me that clearly, why did he play dumb?"

"That's for you to figure out," Ru said, "You're the Prosecutor, not me. He might have ulterior motives or be afraid of someone."

Weisheng held his head and laid back in his chair, pondering the events that happened in a flash. He didn't even remember it clearly because of nervousness and anxiety.

"Don't go figuring it out right now," Qiang murmured in concern, "You look like you'll faint. Big Sis would be mad at us for not looking after you."

Weisheng pulled his hands back and composed himself, flustered by the situation. He cleared his throat.

"So, am I on the run?" He asked softly.

"Theoretically, you should be on the run," Ru nodded, "But don't fret. It gives us more time to fix your curse. We can fix your real-life problems after working on the curse since the curse makes your life terrible to begin with." He explained, "If we can do something about it, maybe you will magically turn out to be innocent."

"You really want me to rely on Karma for this?" Weisheng asked in disbelief.

"Karma is real," They all simultaneously said, as if offended by Weisheng.

Weisheng coughed and nodded, "Okay, but how do we explain the fact that I got out of that situation unscathed?"

Qiang scoffed, "You underestimate Big Sis, don't you?"

Weisheng recalled the events that just happened, and they appeared even stranger in his memories.

"Master was gifted a Monk Staff by an Immortal Sect long ago," Ru said, "She used that to get you out. The pious spirit of the Monk Staff, Lao Xing, can put people in a daze."

Weisheng recalled the Monk Staff and the man with blindfolds. It frightened him just thinking about the 'pious' spirit. The appearance of that man was nightmare fuel for Weisheng.

But he couldn't offend the fellow disciples again.

"Wow, Master has great Spiritual Weapons…" Weisheng murmured bluntly.

"Well, of course," Hai said, "The only thing I have are my glasses. Although I only have to look at evil spirits to banish them, I wish I had cooler weapons like Master."

"Big Sister must've given you a weapon as well," Qiang said, "Since mortals can't attain Spiritual Weapons."

Weisheng's eyes narrowed as he looked at Qiang, "If mortals can't attain Spiritual Weapons, then why does Master have so many of those?"

Qiang chuckled, "Because she's not mortal? Hello?" She murmured in amusement.

"Wait, what?" Weisheng was dumbfounded.

"I thought it was obvious that Master is a spirit," Hai shrugged and looked at Ru, "Right?"

"Yes," Ru nodded, "Master has all the characteristics of being a spirit. She has banished so many evil spirits that the Heaven Realm lets her interact with the Mortal Realm freely. Maybe that is what confused you."

"Plus, how could she roam around your office without anyone noticing?" Qiang asked, "Obviously, she's a spirit."

"This-" Weisheng was left speechless, "I can't believe this…" His eyes narrowed, "Then is Lady Ren also a spirit?"

"No," Ru shook his head as he looked at the lady sitting by the fireplace, "Lady Ren is a Mortal. Her pipe was a gift from an Immortal Sect. Mortals can't attain Spiritual Weapons."

"Wow…" Weisheng sighed, "Why does this feel like a betrayal?"

Qiang gasped, "Wait, what if Big Sis wanted to hide it from him?" She looked at everyone, "And we just told him like that!"

"Considering she didn't tell him much about Spiritual Weapons, it's safe to believe she wanted to hide this from him." Ru nodded, "But it will be fine. I don't think she gave it much thought."

Weisheng sighed, "Betrayal, alright!"

Hai chuckled, "Don't worry about it. She probably forgot to make it clear. Besides, even if she's mortal or not, it doesn't make much difference."

Qiang nodded, "Right," She murmured, "I'm reincarnating in two days. It keeps reminding me that Big Sis will never reincarnate. Weisheng, you should be nice to her."

Weisheng's eyes widened, "She can't reincarnate?"

He suddenly understood what Ru meant by everyone reincarnating and leaving her behind.

"I think we spoke too much," Ru sneered, "If you are curious about this, you should ask Master yourself."

Suddenly, Xiaoling's Godmother scoffed loudly. She stood up and walked toward the table.

"This lowly man doesn't deserve to know about her struggles!" She frowned, "I can't believe we are keeping a criminal at this place now!"

Ru stood up, clasped his hands, and offered a bow to her, "Lady Ren, please calm down. It is the Cursed Eye that makes him-"

"I don't want to hear about that fake curse!" She scoffed while walking to the door, "Talk with him all you want. Don't come to me when he ruins your afterlives!" She said while slamming the door shut and leaving the lounge.

Qiang clenched her teeth, "Don't mind her. She hates everything related to the Devil race. You happen to have that Curse, so." She shrugged.

"Why does she hate them that much?" Weisheng asked.

"Don't you?" Hai asked, "You got a curse that's constantly trying to ruin your life."

Weisheng sighed, "To be honest, I don't think my life was that good before I got this curse. It's the same either way."

Ru sat down with a cautious expression, "Would you mind elaborating on that?"

"On what?" Weisheng asked in confusion.

"On your life, before you got the curse," Ru murmured with his eyes narrowed.
