Cursed For Life

Before the lady could smash the pipe down to end Weisheng's life for good, Xiaoling stood between them with a parasol in her hand, shielding her and Weisheng from the pipe's immaculate strength.

The lady backed off with shock, "Did you just pull your weapon against me?!" She shouted, "For a spawn of the devil?!"

Xiaoling's eyes widened to the point where she couldn't relieve the tension in them. Weisheng stood behind her with pinkened eyes that no one had noticed.

"Unfilial!" The lady shouted, "You're undeserving of being my child! Do you want me to put an end to your life before the Heavens find out about your treacherous actions?!"

Xiaoling's eyes narrowed, and she grunted in pain. She felt a sudden pain in her eyes, a kind of sharp tingle she couldn't recognize. The parasol in her hand disappeared, and she held her eyes in pain. Her legs lost strength, making her fall to the ground. Weisheng's eyes slowly turned back to being brown. He snapped back to reality, finding Xiaoling grunting with pain in front of him.

"Master?!" Weisheng sat down and held her shoulders, "Master, are you okay?"

"Stay away from her!" The lady tried reaching for them.

Suddenly, Ru barged inside the lounge upon hearing the commotion. The lady stopped to look at him.

"A'Ru!" The lady called him with concern, "Get this demonic creature off my daughter!"

Ru's eyes widened when he saw Xiaoling covering her eyes in pain, and Weisheng trying to figure the situation out. Ru quickly understood what happened. He walked closer to Weisheng and Xiaoling.

"Mr. Yuan Weisheng," Ru murmured in a low tone to keep their conversation from the lady, "Are you in your senses or not?"

Weisheng gulped, "I think I am," He replied.

Ru nodded, untying a silk cloth that kept his long hair in a ponytail. He let his hair loose and handed the silk cloth over to Weisheng.

"Tie Master's eyes with this," Ru said in a monotone.

Weisheng received the silk cloth and tried to tie it around Xiaoling's eyes. Xiaoling was still covering her eyes with her hands, making it difficult for Weisheng to tie the cloth around them.

"Master, it will only take a minute," Weisheng murmured while gently lifting her hands from her eyes, watching her grunt in pain. Her eyes were clenched shut. He didn't waste a second and tied the cloth around her eyes.

Meanwhile, Ru immediately knelt in front of the lady for a thorough explanation.

"Lady Ren," Ru called her formally, "Mr. Yuan Weisheng is not of demonic descent. He has engaged an ancient demonic curse, causing him to exhibit demonic energy and behavior. He is training under our Master to keep the curse from surfacing." He explained to the best of his abilities.

"You too?!" The lady asked with shock, "Have you seen his spiritual roots? Do those look like the roots of a human to you?"

Ru dared look up at the lady, "Pardon me, Lady Ren. However, I'm looking into it. Mr. Yuan Weisheng is indeed a human. He is from the mortal realm, just like you. You know better that a demonic creature can't reincarnate as a human. I speculate that the roots have been damaged by the curse or his past life." While explaining, Ru looked back at Weisheng and gestured to him through his eyes to leave with Xiaoling.

Weisheng quickly lifted Xiaoling in his arms and snuck out of the room. He took Xiaoling to her room. He wanted to call for Hai, but Xiaoling's face looked pale. He couldn't risk leaving her side.

"Master?" Weisheng called her after putting her in bed, "Can you hear me?" He asked to see if she was conscious.

Xiaoling grunted, "Wei… sheng?"

"Yes, Master," Weisheng knelt by the bed to properly understand her, "I'm here."

Xiaoling coughed, "Can you…" She exhaled, "Look into the mirror for me?"

Weisheng frowned in confusion. A pocket mirror was conveniently placed on the nightstand. Weisheng grabbed it and looked into it.

"What… is the color of… your eyes?" Xiaoling struggled to ask.

"My eyes are brown, Master," Weisheng replied.

Xiaoling nodded, lifelessly fanning her hand in the air. Weisheng quickly grabbed her hand.

"Put it over your… eyes…" Xiaoling instructed.

Weisheng confusedly laid her hand flat on his eyes. He closed his eyes until told otherwise, suddenly hearing Xiaoling grunt in pain.

"S-Shifu?" He asked in concern, almost pulling her hand away.

"No!" Xiaoling warned him, "Don't move!" She sat up, putting all her strength to keep her hand over his eyes, grunting in pain.

Concerned, Weisheng pulled her hand away from his eyes, watching her cough up blood right away. He gasped and reached for her.

"What's wrong?!" Weisheng asked, "Should I call a doctor?" He asked and gulped, "What should I do?" He panicked.

Xiaoling wiped the blood with her sleeve, "I'm fine now," She murmured, "I suppressed it… You will be fine." She said before dropping back down on the bed.

Before Weisheng could panic more, Ru opened the door and rushed inside. He instantly knelt by the bed, right next to Weisheng.

"Master?" Ru called her, almost out of breath. When she didn't reply, he turned to Weisheng.

"I-I don't know!" Weisheng truthfully replied, "She did something to my eyes, coughed up blood, and then just fell back…"

Ru took a deep breath, "You also take a deep breath. It helps with anxiety. We can't be anxious over this. Our negative energy will affect her recuperation." He murmured, "Inhale," And Weisheng inhaled, "Exhale," Weisheng exhaled.

The two kept taking deep breaths to calm down.

"I will call Young Miss Qiang to take a look at her," Ru said while standing up, "Take care of her."

Weisheng nervously nodded and watched Ru leave the room. He gulped and looked at Xiaoling. He took deep breaths again and again, trying not to affect him. Just because he was cursed for life didn't mean he had to curse everyone in his path. He couldn't help but ponder over what Xiaoling's Godmother had called him: Spawn of the Devil.
