Chapter 22 The Trio

Three days had come and passed, and now Yang Yu was waiting at the 10,000 Beasts Forest gateway. He was dressed in his Inner Disciple robes, along with Midnight on his back, and a bag in hand.

Time passed as Yang Yu waited at the gate but Wang Haotian never appeared, people traversed into the 10,000 Beasts Forest, and some re-entered the sect, but Wang Haotian wasn't in sight.

Soon 3 eye catching figures appeared. One was a cold looking young man, he had long hair tied into a pony tail and piercing, eagle like eyes. The other person was a behemoth, he was 2 meters tall his muscles visibly protruding as his tanned skin reflected the dimming light of the sun.

"Oh you're already here?" Wang Haotian the leader of the 3 said, as Yang Yu's gaze chilled. "It seems you forget to tell me the time." Yang Yu said as Wang Haotian chuckled awkwardly. "Well you see Zhao Shen here took a long time to wake up." Wang Haotian explained as the muscular man gazed at him weirdly.

"Hadn't you lost your items? That's why we took so long to arrive." The muscular man, presumably Zhao Shen, said. "Indeed." The young man with the eagle like eyes replied.

Hearing this Wang Haotian's expression visibly soured, as his face turned slightly red. "Anyway, we're here now, sorry for the wait. These are Zhao Shen ranked 8th, and Chen Feng ranked 3rd, each in the 5th and 6th level of Qi Refinement respectively." Wang Haotian introduced as they locked eyes with Yang Yu.

"Greetings Seniors, I am Yang Yu." Yang Yu quickly replied before bowing, in response so did Chen Feng and Zhao Shen. "Ha, I wouldn't mind having a junior, these 2 are now fun." Zhao Shen said as he rubbed the back of his head.

Hearing this Chen Feng stayed quiet while Wang Haotian couldn't be bothered. "Lets just make our way out of the sect for now." Wang Haotian said as he led them towards the gateway.

Before exiting the sect, they had to confirm who they were, and after doing so they left. As they entered the forest, Yang Yu quickly took out a pill and consumed it. "I see you prepared well." Wang Haotian said as he and the other 2 also consumed a pill.

This was the Beast Repellent it would help them to avoid any lower level beasts. "Naturally, I rather not die on my first trip into the forest." Yang Yu said as they continued through the path.

As they continued to walk, the group fell pretty silent. "So where do you come from?" Zhao Shen asked. He had nothing else to talk about, and out of boredom, he decided to inquire about Yang Yu's past.

"Dawn City." Yang Yu replied concisely. "You?" Yang Yu asked in return. "I come from the Zhao Clan close to the sect, in fact, I am the Grand Nephew of Elder Zhao, Chen Feng is the Grand Nephew of Elder Chen as well." Zhao Chen explained.

Hearing this, Yang Yu was a bit surprised but this wasn't unexpected seeing as Wang Haotian was the Grand Nephew of the Sect Leader. "Seeing as we're on this topic, any relation to the sect prior to joining?" Zhao Chen asked.

"Not particularly." Yang Yu replied. "How old are you this year?" Zhao Shen asked. "12." Yang Yu answered. "Any family." Zhao Shen asked yet again. "I am an orphan." Yang Yu replied, causing Zhao Shen to go a bit quiet.

"That's unfortunate." Zhao Shen said as they entered a clearing. "...Well seeing as its getting late, we better set up camp here." Wang Haotian said as he gazed at the setting sun.

"Yang Yu, help me set up the tents, Chen Feng, Zhao Shen, get dinner and some kindling." Wang Haotian said as he flicked 2 pills towards them. "Okay, I'll make sure to catch a big boar, just you wait!" Zhao Shen as he consumed the pill before running off.

Chen Feng lightly waved before also walking into the woods. "I am sorry for Zhao Shen, he's a bit direct at times." Wang Haotian said as he set up the tents. "Its fine." Yang Yu said as he began to help with the tents.

"...By the way, I kind of forgot to get a tent, you have a spare?" Yang Yu asked as he looked to the side. "Mhmm, of course! Who do you think I am?" Wang Haotian said as he pulled out another 3 compact tents.

"Heh, they don't call me the richest disciple for nothing, I always come prepared!" Wang Haotian said as Yang Yu chuckled lightly. "I've heard people call you a spend thrift, not the richest." Yang Yu replied as Wang Haotian shook his head.

"You see, to be a spend thrift you need to be rich, and to show off your money you need to be a spend thrift, so they feed into each other." Wang Haotian explained with a smug expression.

"Yes, senior is truly wise." Yang Yu said as they finished with the first tent. Soon after they finished the other tents as they chatted about various things.

Eventually Zhao Shen came back with a gigantic boar on his back along with 4 logs. "These should be good enough to sit on, and this will make due for dinner." Zhao Shen said as he dropped the boar onto the floor before swiftly placing down the logs.

A few minutes later, Chen Feng came back with a large amount of kindling and a few rocks. Seeing this Yang Yu looked on curiously. 'Why did he get rocks?' Yang Yu thought as he saw Chen Feng quickly dig a pit and place the rocks around it, before placing this kindling inside.

Seeing this Yang Yu was dumbfounded. "Safety is always important." Chen Feng said seeing Yang Yu's expression. "I guess you've never set up a fire before." Yun Zhu said. "Well no I have, just not in the wild." Yang Yu replied as Yun Zhu chuckled.

After that Wang Haotian directed his finger towards the kindling and it immediately got on fire. Yang Yu was in awe seeing this but Wang Haotian just shook his head with a chuckle.

"Why are you so impressed? Its just a miscellaneous skill you know?" Wang Haotian said as Yang Yu nodded. "I didn't know miscellaneous skills were so useful." Yang Yu said and walked towards a log.

To the side Zhao Shen was skinning the boar extremely finely as he left no waste. "How are you so good?" Yang Yu asked in surprise. "If I didn't do this well, how could the boar rest in peace knowing its corpse was wasted?" Zhao Shen replied causing Yang Yu to be a bit confused.

'I guess its his way of showing respect to the dead.' Yang Yu thought. Soon the hours passed as they ate the boar with joy, Chen Feng even cracked a few lines here and there.

"Well I think we should head to bed, I'll be the look out." Wang Haotian said as they all nodded. "See you tomorrow Senior Brother." Yang Yu said as he bowed.

"ROAR!"

"BUUU!"

"SQWAUK! SQWAUK!"

Suddenly the forest shook awake, as a roar resounded throughout the forest. Multiple beasts began to cause a ruckus as they charged, and the birds flew in disarray.

"What the fuck." Wang Haotian said in shock.
