Kingdom’s Last Update

There are two types of war.

First, Normal War. This type of war is an in-game war. This happened when players and countries in the game start waging war. The exchange system will still take effect since it is just a war inside the game. In the eyes of the tycoon and rich people, this is business. So once the game develops to such a degree, normal war is inevitable. A normal player or a team of normal players who established or raised a kingdom can wage war against the real country inside the game and vice versa. Both sides will not receive repercussions in real life, only money of course, since this game is considered business as well.

Second, the Official War. This type of war is a very delicate issue. This type of war can only happen if countries in the real-world start waging war. And this war is only applicable between countries in the real world.

If the two countries in real life cannot diplomatically resolve the issue and start to wage war on each other. They are required to quickly let the members of the Geneva Convention and the Supreme System know so proper adjustments inside the game will commence immediately.

The Supreme System will freeze the exchange system for everyone unrelated to the war. So the player and nations unrelated to the war cannot exchange their in-game currency.

But the exchange system of two counties waged in war will still be in effect and the value of their currency in the real world still depends on the current value in the international market.

And if two or more counties are related to the said war, the same rules will apply.

Why the exchange system of unrelated countries and players are in freeze? This is to not abuse the exchange system and not avoid taking advantage of the predicament of the countries waging war.

Of course, the Supreme System will issue an announcement and give ample time to everyone if they want to exchange their in-game currency for real-world currency. But everyone will be given the same limit to how much they can exchange.

During this war, the Eternal Coin will start to earn value. This is true for those involved in the Official War. The Eternal Coin can be used to trade with countries in unrelated wars. The worth of the Eternal Coin depends on how the game progress. For now, Eternal Coin is still a flavor text since everyone will start at level 1.

In different matters, Players will start or appear according to their city or town in real life. If one is living in the United Kingdom, then the player will be summoned and appear in one of the cities in the United Kingdom but not exactly at the same address in real life. All of the players will be summoned randomly and appear in front of the large stone table scattered around the town, cities, and countries.

At the same time, to protect each and everyone, the player has been given the liberty to hide their residence address inside the game. Only the Supreme System knows all the delicate information of Players.

Everyone including the team who developed the game is forbidden to access such information.

Not even the most powerful country can look into it. Because the Supreme System handles sensitive information following the law that was passed in Geneva.

Since the Supreme System is protected by law, the defense from hacking also increases by a hundred folds since some government information will be input as data into the system.

So when the official war commences the unrelated normal players' and government players' countries will be enclosed to space domains by the Supreme System to avoid collateral damage.

Just imagine, two countries having war and you are in between them but your space is enclosed, when air combat commences and start exchanging blows and attacks, you can literally see the action but if some of them missed or one of the destructive AOE skills redirected toward the unrelated countries or location, it will be obliterated upon contact with the barrier.

Of course, the trading system inside the game will still take effect but they cannot trade with the countries that wage war with an exception. The countries waging war can trade with them using their Eternal Coin. Then this eternal coin will instantly be converted to in-game currency once the trade is successful.

When the update was announced, the startup of the game was announced as well.

The first run of the game will commence in ten days. It will last for two days. Once Supreme System didn't detect any anomaly or errors, then it will shut down again and begins its maintenance for the official and grand launch of the game a day after the first run ended.

To avoid iniquity, the players who participate in the startup run of the game will only traverse the tutorial land, monsters and items, and others related to the game. This tutorial will be experienced by everyone who will play in the official opening of the game.

Those participants who agreed to the terms and conditions will launch the game in a different room. And they will stay there for two days and are not allowed to contact anyone outside the room.

Of course, the room is self-sufficient for individuals to last up to a week. Signals and other related electromagnetic wave is completely blocked outside and inside.

Once the game was launched again officially, the Supreme System will act on its own. Since it is already a program, there is no need for the supervision of humans. The Supreme System will update the data needed depending on the course or flow inside the game.

But surely, the developer, engineers, and related team made sure that there will be no bug or software virus that can enter the game Kingdom. They also made sure, the proper adjustments were done so that whatever happened inside the game, then the system deems it just.

1:00 PM of Wednesday, April 4, 2306.

14th floor of the International Hospital located in Japan.

A middle-aged man is inside one of many private rooms in the hospital. He is currently confined due to his health issue. Although current medical technology can almost treat diseases that were incurable way back in the 20th century, the disease he inflicted is one of a kind. A new kind of gene disorder was discovered two years ago. And after a year of discovery, he was somehow inflicted with the disease.

His health since then starts deteriorating. Although the machines in the hospital support his body to fight off the gene disorder. However, the disease is thorough in weakening his body and this disease is much more lethal than previously thought.

Due to the implications of the disease, his age started keeping up with him. Although life expectancy increases, it is a different story if one is affected by a lethal disease.

After six months, his body won't accept oral medicine anymore which resulted in to be confined in the hospital.

His name is Gerard Turner, one of the Senior Developers that built the most famous virtual reality game around the world. He was also a History Professor but due to the Kingdom being chosen by the whole world as the number one reality game, he resigned as Professor and focus to help the team develop the game as mandated by the law that was passed in Geneva Convention.

During the development of the Kingdom, he was inflicted with the disease. Since the disease is not infectious, he was still helping but after he was confined and told that the machines on his bed are the reason why he is still alive. He also learned he only has a few months left, resulting in him hesitantly resigning.

He then left the company and lets his friends finish the development of the Kingdom.

Although it pained him so much, he cannot reverse the situation.

That is why when the company announced the official launch, he was so excited to play.

Naturally, the whole company that built the Kingdom is not allowed to play, mostly the core team who develop the game. But due to his situation and being loyal to the company, he was given special treatment and let play the game. If any employee of the company plays the game and is found out, severe punishments will be passed down.

What an irony, you develop the game you love so much and in the end, you are forbidden to play the game. But it is natural, if God created the world and become one of the humans, is it fair? Rather, God might get bored or feel anguish because of human deeds and commence the second coming and kingdom come.

That is right, he only reach the initial development, one-third of the whole game before he was confined in the Hospital.

He agreed to the condition besides he has no more relatives. He was an orphan and dedicated his life to his work as a developer. He had a share of pleasure in life but he just shrug his shoulders and agreed on the condition laid upon.

Gerard cannot help but lamented his situation. But at least, he was allowed to play his beloved and awaited game.

Time passed normally but for him and everyone who keeps waiting for the game to be launched, the time seems so slow.

He is trying to contain his eagerness. He's been waiting since the announcement of the official launch was made public. He's barely containing himself and his hands are itching to start operating the virtual cabin.

And at last, when the time displayed on the wall of his room displays 2:00 PM, his eagerness overwhelms him.

He was supposed to wait for the nurses to come over and help him operate the virtual cabin. But he cannot contain himself any longer.

He clicks one of the buttons on the left side of his bed. After doing so, his bed slowly move and in just a couple of seconds, his soft body landed on the Virtual Cabin beside him. He then gets the sunglasses besides the bed of the virtual cabin and wears them.

He then comfortably relax his body and slowly lie down.

"Oh, crap! I forgot. I need to operate the cabin first!"

The virtual cabin is without a doubt one of the high-tech machines ever invented, it is a voice operating machine but one needs to put in the fingerprint first before one can command the cabin.

After struggling for a bit and due to his excitement, his thumb grazes a sharp object near the virtual cabin which give him a wound.

"Crap! Tsk."

He didn't give any damn anymore as he placed his wounded thumb to activate the virtual cabin.

The virtual cabin start to light up and a gentle voice of a girl resounded on the sunglasses he was wearing.

[Welcome Host, please lie down and try to relax.]

Gerard smiles and was about to lie down when he suddenly felt a throbbing pain in his heart followed by unbearable pain in his head.

"Arghh! What is happening?" He unconsciously put both of his hands on his chest and clench it harder to relieve the unbearable pain. But the pain he kept feeling in his head start to increase greatly as well.

In just a couple of seconds, he was gasping for air.

"N-nur-s---" But he wasn't able to finish what he wanted to say. That is when he remembered that if he suddenly felt a throbbing pain in his chest and head, it means that his brain totally succumb to his disease.

His death is quick and so is his pain. The doctors told him in just five seconds, his brain will stop cease to function and even the machine cannot help to revive his brain.

Two seconds already passed and because he has only three seconds left, he lay down and commands the virtual cabin.

"S-st-a-rt!"

He struggles to say one word but in the end, he was able to say it. Before the five seconds passed, he heard again the gentle voice of the girl [Commencing. The game will start now…] and his vision darkened.
