Duel (Part 2)

The remaining wind arcs were coming towards Kael's direction at a high speed. "C'mon heal quickly!: He screamed in his head, watching the wind arcs edge closer. Looking at his legs, he knew the blades would strike him before it fully healed.

With no choice left, he raised his hands, which were covered in a dark glow, and slammed them to the ground. "Gravity shift!"

[Gravity Shift: Host can create a small area in which he can freely manipulate gravity force on himself and others]

The wind arcs suddenly dispelled as it entered the little zone Kael had created, manipulating the gravity within. The abyssal energy had done its job, healing his leg completely. Rising from the ground, he clenched his fist tightly, staring at the figure charging at him with a frown on his face.

Kael gaze landed at the high platform, staring at the queen before moving onto Princess Aretha, who had a strange expression on her face.

Sigh~

"I guess I don't have a choice here." He mumbled, still standing in the same position. Martin finally got close and swung his spear towards him with wind currents surging around the blade.

Surprisingly, all watched as the blade slowed down as soon as it got close to Kael. Grabbing the spear, Kael pulled with force, causing Martin to stumble forward.

"Shit!" Instantly, he could feel the pressure within the area pressing him down. "Arghh," he groaned, struggling to lift his spear, which appeared to have gained the weight of a mountain.

Kael was already on the move. With the little domain he had created, he could easily control the gravity upon himself and those within the area also. His weight became light, enabling him to easily weave through appearing behind. With fist clenched tightly, he swung down, striking his back.

"Damn you!" Martin cursed loudly, trying to quickly turn and strike back. Kael was nowhere to be seen as he had appeared above, his fist clenched together.

"Heads up!" He said, causing him to desperately try to protect his head but felt his hands so heavy that he just managed to reach his chest before the fist slammed on him.

BOOOM

His once heavy weight became light as he bounced across the ground from the impact. Stretching his hand, he felt a force pulling him back with a fist rapidly closing on him.

BOOOOM

Kael delivered another devastating attack with Martin sent hurtling through the field.

"Blerghh!" He vomited blood as he struggled to stand, falling back on his knees. "You! You've been hiding your powers!"

"Hiding my powers? Tsk. Answering you is a waste of time." Kael form streaked forward and then twisted his hips, striking with precision. His legs travelled forward and struck his head. The force caused his head to slam to the ground with blood splashing across.

"What's the deal with this duel I forgot to ask," Kael thought, scratching his head. But looking at his opponent, he knew he was out of the fight and won't be able to continue.

Walking back to the centre of the field, he awaited the queen to announce the end of the match. "C'mon, what are you waiting for!" Kael thought. Looking up, he saw the queen with a smile on her face, causing Kael to frown.

"What's she up to again? Hold on, the system didn't notify me about the quest being completed! Does that mean the battle isn't over?!"

Kael looked at the figure lying on the ground but was surprised to find an empty spot. "Shit!" He cursed, quickly staring around.

"Got you!" Kael heard a voice behind, causing him to swing his fist towards the source.

SPLATT!

Kael watched as his hand slowly slid down, falling to the ground with a thud. "Ughh," he groaned, not the least bothered about his hand, but the spear lodged deeply in his stomach.

Blood dripped to the ground as he staggered back. Martin swung his fist, striking his chest before pulling out his spear.

"Hahaha. Pathetic! Do you think I would be easily defeated by such perky attacks!" Swinging his legs, he kicked Kael, bringing him to his knees. Swinging his spear above, he brought it down, thrusting forward. A bang resounded at the back of his elbows, increasing the speed of his attack.

SPLATT!

Kael could feel himself getting overwhelmed by a strange feeling. He felt a strong disdain as if the being before him wasn't worth hurting him. "You…" kael muttered with a frown. If he hadn't activated his gravity shift and managed to change the direction of the spear, it would have certainly pierced through his chest.

"You tried to kill me?!! Don't blame me!" Kael muttered, holding onto the spear tightly and rising slowly from the ground. "Death! He deserves to die!" He heard voices in his head as he stared at the figure before him.

"Huh? If this doesn't kill you, I'll do it over and over again." Martin muttered, trying to pull his spear out. "What?!" He felt a strong force, which instantly brought him to his knees. The ground developed cracks just from the sheer force.

"Wanted to kill me, right?" Kael's voice had become somewhat sinister all of a sudden as he pulled the spear out, his body already healing. "Why don't I repay the favour…"

STOP!

A voice was heard as a soft breeze rippled across the area with a figure just placing the tip of her fingers on the sharp edge of the spear pushing it back.

"The winner has been decided, Kael wins." Queen Otrera announced, staring at Kael with a smile. "I knew you were special." She said, her voice a whisper which only he heard.

Martin, with pale face, slowly pushed himself across the ground, distancing himself from kael. He could feel it a moment ago, the chilling killing intent, which made his spines shudder madly.

"Just how many people did he kill to have that killing intent? This guy is dangerous. Thank goodness the queen intervened at the last moment."

Kael had already deactivated the gravity shift skill snapping back to himself. "What happened before?" He thought, letting go of the spear. "I won? I did it." He muttered to himself. Looking at the queen, he shifted backwards, a bit surprised. "When did she get here?"

[Quest Completed: Defeat the worshipper of Hera]

[Reward: A shard]

[It's advised that the host goes to a secluded place to receive the reward]

"A shard, huh? What does that even mean?" He asked the system as he made his way out of the arena."

Everyone watched in silence as he walked out of the building with none making an attempt to stop him.

Above the platform, Princess Aretha watched with mixed feelings as she watched his figure finally disappear from her view. "After everything he won?" She muttered in disbelief. "Did he know about the food being poisoned?"

"No," Karin rubbed him with the potion and also confirmed he ate the food. "That amount was supposed to make him weak for over two days. Also, his hands... I broke his hands back then at the training, yet he still came out... victorious."

Sigh~

"Somethings are meant to be," the voice of Queen Otrera echoed in her head, causing her to stare in her direction. She had a strange smile, which was hard to read.

Kael finally arrived in his room, shutting the door firmly. With his void sense, he ensured none was within earshot or hiding in the room. The battle played in his head as he settled on the bed. "I didn't reveal much, right? I can still catch her by surprise and escape. But, let's check out the reward."

"System, I'm ready."
