It Was Beautiful

An inexplicable feeling rose in Yun Yilan's heart.

Having a threatening king put food in her dish.

It just felt...strangely good.

Qin Wei did not take long to finish his luxurious breakfast. He ate very little, different from the girl beside him who tried to stuff in everything she could. Alas, as soon as her employer seemed full, Yun Yilan had to stop eating as well.

Her brown eyes, full of regrets, lingered at the vibrant leftovers on the table before she followed the tall figure outside.

Today Qin Wei had to go to the company ---Qin Enterprise--- and she, his assistant, had to tag along.

Qin Enterprise was located in the central part of Capitol, surrounded with skyscrapers and shopping malls on every corners of avenues. The building of the company itself was 78 story high, covered wholly in shining glass.

Yun Yilan now understood the difference between urban and rural.

Qin Wei used to come here everyday to work. But recently, due to his deteriorating health, he only came for a couple of days per week, other than that he would just work from home.

Three years ago, Qin Wei met an accident. It was a severe car crash. He had undergone several operations and had been hospitalized for months before he could return to his normal daily life.

But it was just not the same.

His body had become weaker. If he had taken good care of his body back then, he might have become healthy and strong again. But Qin Wei just came back to work. He didn't care to rest or nurture his health and now it was too late.

His body had gone permanently weak, and severe symptoms started to show.

Coughing, vomitting, insomnia, more.

That's why she was hired, to assist him and take care of him closely.

While Yun Yilan was pondering, she stepped into the building and went after the king towards the elevator.

What made her come back to reality was many pairs of curious eyes staring at her.

They made her feel awkward, like a rabbit in a cage, inspected by unfamiliar humans.

She heard whispers coming from all directions, and she couldn't help listening to them.

"Who is she!? I've never seen her before."

"Me neither, who would've I would live until the day President walks with a woman."

"Is she a newcomer?"

"Nah, shouldn't be that. President has never walked with any new staffs in the company."

"She looks so young, maybe she was trying to seduce President."

"That seems like it! Girls these days, they only look for sugar daddies when they have financial problems!"

"How shameless!!"

"She's not at all beautiful! How could she manage to seduce President?"

"You still have to ask!? Of course it's sex!"

"You think they have done it?"

"Hah, absolutely!"

Those words were soft, but they were still hurtful. Yun Yilan felt her skin scraped and scratched from all those mean talk, like she was rubbed harshly with sandpaper all over jer body.

Yun Yilan glared at those foul-mouthed people, making them stop spitting out their saliva for a while. But she knew that as soon as she was out of their sight, the nasty gossiping would start again.

She was upset, but she couldn't control others' thoughts and words.

Arguing and fighting with them would only degrade herself.

The least she could ask for was for them to not do the filthy talk when she was around.

So that she could clear her mind and only think about positive things that make her happy.

It was not until she got into the elevator that Yun Yilan could calmed down.

The elevator was Qin Wei's private elevator, completely made out of glass.

The sunlight that shone through made her heart lightened.

The gossips were not heard only by Yun Yilan, but also by Qin Wei.

That moment, no one knew that the indifferent President had tightened his fists and was prepared to fire everyone who said those rash words.

But he just couldn't let her know yet.

The sound of the elevator moving to the 78th floor ringed softly in his ears while he was gazing deeply at the small figure beside him.

Her head was only at the level of his chest.

Yun Yilan's reaction a moment ago was highly unexpected to Qin Wei. He was expecting a tantrum, a curse word, or a cry, but her reaction was so trivial that it appeased him.

Yun Yilan gave him serenity of the mind.

He liked it.

Standing quite close to her, Qin Wei could feel the mild scent from her body, just like that young flowers amidst the vibrant sky.

It was beautiful.
