Chapter 53: Frenzied Subjugation
September 3rd, Yangzhou City, Shengshi Jiangnan District. A thousand meters above the sky, a massive Black Crowned Golden Eagle circled above the district. A figure in a black combat suit silently flew from Villa 0921 into the sky and landed on the back of the Black Crowned Golden Eagle, barely attracting anyone's attention.
A cry echoed as the Black Crowned Golden Eagle burst into speed, instantly breaking through the sound barrier, flying towards the city's outskirts at an alarming speed. It was only then that people noticed the Black Crowned Golden Eagle in the sky, but by the time they reacted, it had already disappeared from view.
Qin Mu's departure did not attract much attention. In fact, he was not a high-profile person. Otherwise, if he had the Black Crowned Golden Eagle land, it would have drawn a lot of attention. His previous high-profile displays of strength were merely means to achieve certain goals. Now, Qin Mu no longer needed to resort to such tactics.
Sitting cross-legged on the back of the Black Crowned Golden Eagle, Qin Mu felt at ease. The screening mission from the Palace of Wargods had been issued; all he needed to do was hunt a Horde Leader monster in the wilderness and return. The task was simple.
"With the speed of the Black Crowned Golden Eagle, it won't take an hour to reach City 0237."
Qin Mu looked at the wilderness scenery, a smile on his face. With his current strength, the screening was just a formality. The main purpose of this trip was to subdue more Horde Leader monsters and accelerate the expansion of the Zerg swarm.
"This time, the Zerg swarm can expand to City 023. Even if we encounter King-level monsters, with my current strength, there's no need to fear."
Previously, under Qin Mu's deliberate control, the expansion of the Zerg swarm had been relatively covert and restrained. Despite having a large number of high-ranking Zerg units, the swarm did not rush to expand in City 0237. Instead, it relied on the subway lines, carefully scouted the situation, and advanced steadily. Until now, the Zerg swarm's reach had not entered the adjacent City 023.
Few Warlord fighters dared to enter City 023, or even City 003. City 003, as one of the largest cities on the Eurasian continent, was inhabited by King-level monsters. But there was still some of them.
The reason was simple: human fighter teams only entered stealthily to hunt and were ready to retreat at any time. When encountering high-level monsters, they would flee immediately. But the Zerg swarm couldn't do that. Because of the existence of the Mother Nest, the swarm had to occupy territory and confront the monsters head-on.
The two were like guerrillas and regular troops. One was mobile and could retreat at any time, while the other could only fight to the death.
Therefore, Qin Mu had always deliberately controlled the intensity of the warfare. When the swarm was still weak, he tried not to provoke powerful monsters. Until now, Qin Mu still did not intend to change this policy. Because if it attracted the attention of a large number of King-level monsters, the current Zerg swarm would not be able to withstand them. This was also why Qin Mu had never massively deployed Mother Nests. Otherwise, by placing a Mother Nest in each city, the size of the swarm would grow at an abnormally terrifying rate.
But after consuming the Thousand Year Willow Heart and reaching the level of an invincible Wargod with a spirit amplification of 36 times, Qin Mu felt he could be a little bolder. As long as he controlled a large number of Horde Leader monsters and used them as cover, he could establish many Mother Nests and quickly increase the number of Zerg units.
After so many days, the Zerg swarm had barely exceeded 500,000 in number through continuous reproduction. There were less than 200,000 Zerg units around the Mother Nest in City 0237. This was the result of Qin Mu's training over the past few days, and the swarm had already deployed an underwater Mother Nest in Taihu Lake.
Qin Mu was not very satisfied with this progress.
Five hundred thousand was too few, even for land monsters. After all, a low-level Level 3 monster tide would have millions of monsters. The number of monsters in a Level 1 tide was even in the hundreds of millions. Not to mention the even more terrifying disaster-level monster tides.
Adding the newly hatched underwater Mother Nest, the swarm now had a total of five Mother Nests. At this rate, even if five Level 2 Mother Nests were to produce Zerg units at full capacity, they could only produce 36,000 a day. How many years would it take to confront the monster tides head-on?
When did the Zerg swarm ever have such a significant numerical disadvantage?
Therefore, expanding the number of Mother Nests was imperative. Expanding the number of Mother Nests could also speed up the analysis of monster genes and the breakthrough to Level 3 Mother Nests.
"Boom!"
Under the Black Crowned Golden Eagle's violent speed, it plunged into City 0237. This was the large city Qin Mu was most familiar with, filled with numerous Horde Leader monsters, making it ideal for hunting.
On the street, a monster with a body over ten meters tall was entrenched in a building. This was a intermediate Horde Leader monster, the Steel Rock Rhinoceros. The Steel Rock Rhinoceros was a relatively rare Horde Leader monster. It liked to devour metal, and after some conversion, the metal would integrate into its fur and bones. Therefore, the Steel Rock Rhinoceros had extremely strong defense and was among the strongest in its class of Horde Leader monsters.
In the past, the Black Crowned Golden Eagle beneath Qin Mu, a primary Horde Leader monster, never dared to provoke it because it couldn't break through its defense.
The Black Crowned Golden Eagle dove straight down towards the Steel Rock Rhinoceros. The intermediate Horde Leader Steel Rock Rhinoceros didn't even bother to lift its eyelids at the sight of the Black Crowned Golden Eagle in the sky. It snorted out a thick column of air, showing no interest in engaging.
As if metal were colliding, a sound that made one's teeth ache echoed. Over a dozen short spears descended from the sky at over ten times the speed of sound, piercing through the Steel Rock Rhinoceros' thick metal skin. It instantly severely wounded this monster known for its defense.
"Submit to me." A powerful spirit force emanated from Qin Mu, charging into the Steel Rock Rhinoceros' consciousness with a violent posture, forcibly assimilating it into the Zerg race.
Under the absolute suppression of strength, it didn't even have a chance to resist. A large number of monsters roared around, seemingly wanting to come to its aid, but in the next moment, they were easily slaughtered by the short spears exceeding ten times the speed of sound.
A quarter of an hour later, Qin Mu's figure soared into the sky. On the ground, the severely wounded Steel Rock Rhinoceros staggered to its feet and headed towards the Zerg Mother Nest for treatment. Having been infected and assimilated, it needed healing.
Half a day later, when it stood up from the fungus carpet near the Mother Nest, there were no traces of injuries on its body. Behind it, a large group of Zerg units followed, guided by the will of the swarm, to a designated place to establish a new Mother Nest.
In another location, a bipedal monster standing nearly thirty meters tall, with gray fur, an advanced Horde Leader monster known as the Earth Bear, let out an angry roar. Its body was covered in blood, its limbs pierced by short spears, nailing it to the ground.
"Submit to me." A hint of ferocity flashed in Qin Mu's eyes. This Horde Leader Earth Bear had a strong will, and even Qin Mu spent some effort to assimilate it into the Zerg race.
When Qin Mu flew into the sky again, this severely wounded Earth Bear, like the Steel Rock Rhinoceros, headed to the Mother Nest to treat its injuries and then to a designated location to establish a new Mother Nest.
Under Qin Mu's frenzied hunting, one Horde Leader monster after another was severely wounded and assimilated into the Zerg race.
An advanced Horde Leader monster covered in golden scales, standing over twenty meters tall, the top-ranked ape-like monster, the Golden Ape.
An intermediate Horde Leader monster over 50 meters long with terrifying venom, the Black Striped Blood Serpent.
One by one, these terrifying monsters were forcibly assimilated by Qin Mu. In the face of Qin Mu's current strength, any monster that was not King-level would be easily crushed.
Under this frenzied subjugation, the number of Horde Leader monsters in the Zerg swarm continued to increase, and the number of Mother Nests grew at an astonishing rate.
