Chapter 5: Verification Work

Finally, the first day of opening has arrived... or rather, the seventh day.

Huh? Why the seventh day, you ask?

Well, you see, if you don't advertise, customers won't come easily.

Thanks to that, I was able to read quite a bit of the academy's textbooks, though.

By the way, I skipped the textbooks for general subjects like math and physics, and focused on reading the textbooks for ninjutsu and taijutsu (I planned to read the genjutsu textbook after the ninjutsu one).

I mean, I remember things like the sine and cosine theorems, so I don't really need to read them too much, you know?

It's the kind of study content that elementary school students do, so it's not that difficult... although I think it's not the content that current Japanese elementary school students study.

I feel like I learned things like the Pythagorean theorem in junior high school.

But the ones with people's names in the theorem's name have changed... I didn't bother remembering them since I thought it would be fine as long as I understood the content.

Now, the problem is the textbooks for ninjutsu and taijutsu.

First, how ninjutsu is activated... that's the part that's completely unclear.

To activate ninjutsu, chakra is essential.

Chakra is apparently created by mixing spiritual energy and physical energy in a balanced manner.

Well, how do you perceive spiritual energy and physical energy... you might think that, right?... I don't really understand it either.

According to the textbook, it seems that you can do it by meditating or focusing your consciousness inside your body, but I couldn't do it in this one week.

I could talk about my one week of efforts, but I think it would be hard to understand, so I'll explain more about ninjutsu.

As I mentioned earlier, ninjutsu is the conversion of spiritual and physical energy into chakra, and it is activated by forming hand seals in a predetermined order, like shadow puppets, with both hands.

Well, those who have read the original work would probably understand... but from what I read in the latest volume, it seems that hand seals are hardly used anymore, but let's ignore that and remember that hand seals are basically essential for activating ninjutsu.

As for the hand seals, there are twelve basic seals, and it seems that all of them are named after the Chinese zodiac signs.

If you make a mistake even with one finger when forming the hand seals, it will fail or even backfire, causing harm to the user.

Even the clone jutsu, which is the graduation exam at the academy, can be done with three seals, but for advanced ninjutsu, you need to form more than eight seals, and there are even techniques that require nearly fifty seals... I remember seeing Kakashi and Zabuza's jutsu battle with an unusually large number of seals.

Well, that's how it is with the academy. They thoroughly practice forming the seals accurately.

I'm also practicing, but there are so many complicated seals that I can't become proficient quickly.

I've only been doing it for about a week, so I guess it can't be helped, but in reality, I have to form the seals accurately and at a speed where afterimages remain during combat... I'm really worried about the future.

Just because I gained the physical abilities of a lower-level ninja doesn't mean I've become dexterous.

But I can't give up, so I'm practicing with the textbook in hand.

This is basically just physical combat.

The textbook covers the basics of strikes and throws.

It's about the vital points of the human body, but when it comes to martial arts, you basically watch, imitate, and learn... in other words, I can understand techniques like karate and judo to some extent, but I honestly don't understand things like Shadow Leaf Dance, which sticks closely behind the opponent and continuously unleashes high and low kicks, which are explained with little detail in the latter half of the textbook.

Perhaps it's because they don't want it to be understood even if it's seen by people from other countries, so the explanations are kept short, and the teachers teach as needed... ...

That's the kind of feeling I get from this exploration-like ninjutsu and taijutsu, but in addition to that, there's one more thing I'm doing.

That is confirming the abilities given to me by the administrator.

I haven't tried any magic or traps that would have a significant impact on the surroundings, but I did try some equipment magic with small effects.

What I found out is that the increase in attack power is not due to an increase in physical strength, but rather, it feels like my strength is enhanced in some way that I can't quite understand.

It might be that improving physical abilities with chakra is like this, but I haven't done it before, so I have nothing to compare it to... I want to be able to train my chakra quickly.

The defense power is similar, it's not that my body has become harder, but it feels like wearing armor with zero weight?

I haven't tried the effects of both too much, but when I tried the equipment magic called "Legendary Sword," which increases both attack and defense by 300, a sword suddenly appeared in front of me, and when I held it, I felt a surge of power.

I didn't swing it with all my strength, so I don't know how much the increase is, but if it's something like "Demon's Axe" with an attack power increase of 1000, it feels a bit dangerous, so I want to test it slowly.
