--Sky's Perspective--
"Sky? You alright?" My white-haired friend asked. Shike, who had blue eyes identical to mine and white hair unlike any person I've seen before, climbed up on the monkey bars with me to ask me how I was doing. It felt like I just woke up a few seconds ago. I was unfamiliar with my surroundings... but I knew where I was.
Like I belonged somewhere else.
"Yeah, I'm good. I was just enjoying the breeze from this high up." I told him. Shike flipped his body upside down and landed on the ground with a smile. I fell right beside him and smiled up at the monkey bars as the sun shone through the separation.
"And you see, Alexia, it is us who stands triumphant above Sky and Shike! Queen Belle and Queen Alexia!" Belle said. Belle's strawberry-blonde hair was falling towards Shike and me from above the bars and she smiled while looking down. Alexia joined with her light-brown hair, taunting Shike and me that they didn't fall off.
That's right. I was hit with a wave of unfamiliarity, but I remembered my friends now. I met them four years ago in a preschool. Their parents were all friends from beforehand and had children back to back, that's when we were born; all in a succession of four days. Our parents worked with the schools to put us on the path to becoming fighters at a school called the Middle Training Grounds for Fighting Rubeki. We declared that to be our wish, to fight the monsters that threatened the continent we all lived on called The First Trial.
Split into eight different Isles with four of them being pure Rubeki territory, we all lived on the one furthest from their territories. Standing between us were the MTG and HTG, Middle and High Training Grounds. We were only two years out from applying to MTG.
"Come get lunch children!" My mom shouted.
Ali Asterio, a force of nature only beat by my dad Lucas Asterio, were the strongest people to have ever existed on The First Trial, and successfully pushed back the Rubeki to their new homes. They gave us the chance at this life, and we are all grateful to them for it. Especially me.
It has been a while since they fought last, but they are still feared to this day as Team Asterio, a team that hasn't known defeat for the entirety of their lives.
"Grab my arm Sky!" My dad yelled out, running through the kitchen with a washcloth in his hand. Ah, that's right, my Dad needed his arm.
Back in his fighting days, My mom and dad got into a huge fight with the leader of Rubeki, and Dad lost his arm while defending mom. Now, he had a metallic arm formed from some weird material. I picked it up and threw it at Dad.
The arm was magnetically connected to his torso, and when I threw it near him it connected with no trouble. He started moving his fingers around like he had control and put the washcloth in that hand instead.
"Hey Ms. Asterio, what did you make for lunch?" Belle asked. My mom handed off four plates and pat Belle on the head.
"It's Ms. Ali, not Asterio. If Ms. Asterio is easier, you may call me that." My mom told her.
Ali Asterio and Lucas Asterio were the names of my parents, and I was Sky Asterio. My parents were superheroes... they were amazing.
"Thanks, Mom!" I told her. She patted my head also and kicked us all outside.
"Don't come back until it's night or one of you is hurt!" She yelled out, shutting the door. Shike, Belle, Alexia, and I all went back to the playground located outside.
"So, should we start training after lunch? I'm thinking that we get a jump on our training so we can stay ahead of the game when we head to MTG." Shike said, punching the air like he was preparing for a fight.
"Sure, but you can't be mad when I start to kick your butt," I told Shike.
We finished up our lunch, but instead of training, we decided to play a little bit more. We wanted to race to see who was the fastest, but I knew that I would crush the competition with my speed.
The race began and I took first place, finishing before anybody else even hit the halfway point. They've never seen me run like that before. Thanks to my mom, I got really fast legs.
"Huh? Sky's not allowed to race us anymore!" They exclaimed.
"I told you guys, I would kick your butts in racing." I smiled as I bragged and everybody but Shike saw it as an inviting challenge.
"Just you wait Sky, I'll be just as fast as you one day!" He yelled out. With everybody smiling even though I beat them in our competition, we walked back to the playground to talk about random things.
I felt like I fell out of my body again as I watched them talk about their childhoods. I couldn't remember mine for the life of me... I only knew bits and pieces, and their names. Like I was purposefully trying to forget it.
I never really felt like myself until a few moments ago. I felt like somebody, or something else. I looked around as they spoke and then up at the sky. I thought I felt somebody watching me... weird.
"Is something wrong Sky? That's the second time you've spaced out when we talked." Alexia asked me.
"Y-Yeah, I just was watching the clouds," I told them with a smile. I continued to look up with that smile, but it left when I felt red eyes looking down on me.
I couldn't make out a face, but I knew there was something there... something far out in the distance of the clouds, looking down at me specifically. I was shrouded in chills until I heard Shike's voice speak out past those chills.
"Come on! Now we can train!" He said, taking Alexia and me by our wrists and dragging us out to the field we raced on.
I just need to forget about it.
