"He didn't even tell you when or where the meeting would be." Moonlight muttered. She sat on the couch where Genesis used to be and held Mizu's head close to her chest. Mizu cooed in Moonlight's arms and she smiled lightly.
"Then I assume it will be here. I want you out of the house for when this happens, I don't want you near that piece of shit again." I said to Moonlight. She nodded, crossing her legs and looking up at the ceiling.
With Genesis's arrival into our home, I was thoroughly confused about his entire character. He seemed confident, yet nervous. So many contrasting attitudes on his one character left him as a complete mystery, but I doubt that was on accident.
"So, they can travel between Earth and this Island now. Does that mean Zeal finally got the transporter working?" Moonlight asked me.
"I highly doubt it just started working. Remember Alba's disappearance? I'm pretty sure Zeal came back to bring her down to Earth. It's been working for a while, but I'm curious about his call to action now. Well, I'll find out later and let you know. You should go stay with Dante tonight." I said to my wife.
"Yes sir! Remember, I'm not that stupid without you. I'll pack my things and after they leave, I'll wait until you tell me it's safe to come out." She said. Moonlight left Mizu to me and began to pack her things, traveling all across our home for the necessities.
I prepared for the meeting myself. I anticipated it would be tonight to make sure I wouldn't go anywhere. Genesis seemed like the type of man to manipulate others, so I would let his manipulation work and give in to the anxiety he tried to place on me.
The only thing left in this equation was how he knew Mizu's name. Was she a trap? Acting as some sort of bait to lure us out?
No, that wouldn't be possible. Anybody could've come up across her and then they wouldn't know it was me. Then, my initial suspicion was probably right. Mizu was more than likely Nova's kid. If that were the case, then I could give Mizu back to Nova and establish a solidified relationship with Earth, increasing our options for trade and allowing us to prosper.
I couldn't forget about the way Moonlight felt, as I knew she wanted a kid. If Mizu ends up being Nova's daughter, then we would lose her. Worst case, Moonlight and I could have a kid of our own.
Time went by during the day and by night time, I lit the candles and torches on my front porch and sat down, staring off into the town center. Everybody was long since asleep as the moon hit the middle of the sky.
My perception was right again as several silhouettes arrived on my steps. Zeal, the man he once described to be Elo, and one other. After the White Stones were revealed, Genesis came up in his old cloak.
The look on Zeal's face was so much different than before. I could no longer recognize him as a simple friend as I had before. He used my existence to get himself down to Earth and was cut off, becoming whatever he is now.
"I'm glad you could make it to your own house. Let us begin the first White Stone meeting. Do you think you'd be gracious enough to let us into your home, Orion?" Zeal asked me with a sarcastic tone.
"Sure thing. Come on in. Hey, What's your name." I asked. I pointed to the youngest White Stone, but his nervous attitude lightened the atmosphere.
"The name is Demos. I've heard several things about you, Orion." Demos told me. I nodded, opening my door and letting the Stones in.
Everybody took a seat in my living room and waited for Zeal to start talking. As Zeal analyzed the room and smiled, he clasped his hands while leaning forward and began:
"Well, let's discuss the elephant in the room. I know, the fact is Orion stole my people from me and sent me down to Earth, but let's not have harsh feelings against him! We're all family here, thanks to these Stones, so let's put it past us." Zeal said.
Zeal was already pissing me off. Lying about what happened for whatever reason offered nothing productive in this conversation.
"That's not what happened and you know it. Now, why the hell are you on my Isle?" I asked him.
"Woah! Come on now Orion, don't be the reason this meeting fails. I'm here to talk about rules regarding our kind and what we should do. So, let's begin." Zeal said, continuing his rules.
"We're the strongest and most diplomatic people left in humanity. We were born to be leaders and rulers of all kinds, so we should have rules as well. Make sense to everybody?"
I nodded in response and everybody else followed. Maybe I was wrong about Zeal. Not actively trying to give himself more power showed a lot more promise than lying about who I was.
"So, about the rules. I have obtained something called the 'System' which is some sort of voice in my head that guides me. I can give it to you guys as well by putting the source in your body to make sure you follow the rules. Let's find rules we can all agree on. I will go first. We are not allowed to kill anybody," Zeal said, straightening his posture.
"Hm... how about... we all must have limitations so we cannot become tyrants or dictators?" Elo said next. Demos seemed excited about his idea, so he went next.
"Why don't we have these meetings frequently? That way we can check on each other frequently and help everybody out," Demos suggested.
"Sounds good. Orion, what about you?" Zeal asked. I scanned the room, looking at the three Stones and Genesis in my house right now. Their arrival was inconvenient, bothersome, and pretty pointless. Zeal came here to lie, then proceed to offer up some great rules. Other things are going on I don't know about, so I want Zeal out of here as soon as possible.
"We're not allowed to be together for too long. To ensure no teaming up and killing each other if we disagree. I'm sure you're fond of that rule, right Zeal?" I asked, turning to him. Zeal didn't look pleased.
"Sure, I guess that makes sense, but the System would prevent us from killing each other anyways." Zeal said, but I knew about the secret plan he had. Zeal was an intelligent man, there was something hidden between his rule, and I knew there was.
"I can't help but think that rule has a loophole, Zeal. You can't blame me, so let me try to guess it. We can't kill anybody, but earlier you said we're above 'everybody' so I have to wonder... we can kill each other, can't we?" I asked him, but Zeal stood silent for a second.
"I hope we won't get to that point, but no, that wasn't my intention." I scoffed. Zeal seemed too passive to stay innocent, but he wouldn't fool me.
The meeting continued onwards with pointless talking and bickering. It finally came to a close with Zeal touching all of our White Stones to implement this so-called 'System' into every one of us. Nobody argued with him about his ulterior motives for his rules, but we all accepted what everybody wanted and with that, Zeal and the other Stones were off like they were never even here.
I sighed in relief, but I knew that I should wait another day before telling Moonlight to come back with Mizu. I went off to bed, awaiting whatever would happen in the future with Zeal. I dreaded it wholeheartedly.
