Rubeki Siege

"Providence?!" The three of us shouted in surprise. Rui smiled with sharp, wicked teeth and lunged in for me specifically.

Before he could even come close, a saber slid through the top of his head and cut his body. Before I could understand how it moved like that, the saber cut his body into five pieces until he turned into nothing but smoke. Then, Mom's overcoat fell in front of me as her golden sabers and golden eyes sparked wildly in all of the cluttered smoke.

"I knew it would be soon. Sky, Mitra, Myth, your friends are okay, go group with them, and stay with them no matter what! You will die if you stay separated. We're under attack from the Rubeki." Mom stated.

"The Rubeki? How many?!" Mitra yelled out to my mom.

"You misunderstood me. It's not a definable number. It is The Rubeki. The entire species is here." She said.

"Sky. Stay safe. I'm going to HTG to block it off. Your father will be here to fight off the Rubeki with you guys. Stay together and protect each other!" Mom yelled out in her adamant tone. We all listened and ran over to the dorms as fast as possible.

"Shike?! Belle?! Alexia?! Illya?!" I yelled out, while Mitra and Myth looked for their people.

"Sky! Hey, what the hell is going on?! Rui was a Rubeki?!" Illya shouted out toward me. I ran over to her with Mitra and Myth and just as Mom said, they were all grouped together. Illya was holding Boo's stomach, as she was impaled by something that fell out of the burnt house.

"Thank you... Illya... Rui was a Rubeki?! Where is he?!" Boo yelled out in irritation.

"It's solved. Mom killed him, and she's going to HTG to hold off the Rubeki. My dad is here to defend us, so we don't have to worry, but we should group up so we can stay together and safe." I said to everybody.

"No shit! We need to clear this fog. Shike, Belle, can you two do something?!" Boo said while clutching her side.

"Where are Naomi and Eo?!" Myth shouted out to Boo.

"Dead. They were crushed to death under our goddamn dorm. You can't tell me Ali took that Rui kid out, I was hoping to gouge his eyes out and make him eat the damn things." Boo said while biting her tongue to stop herself from crying.

"What...? Naomi and Eo... are dead?" I mumbled in confusion.

Dead?

I would never see them again?

Woah... I wasn't sure what I exactly felt in my chest, but it was something large, feeling like it was choking me.

"Yes. They are dead. And it's that damn kid's fault. Look, I don't care about mourning them, I want to wipe that species off of the damn planet. Where did Ali go and how can I get there faster than her so I can do it?!" Boo, again, grabbed my collar, but her eyes were full of fury that I couldn't comprehend.

"Boo! Calm down! They want to separate us so we're easy to kill. It's sad... that Naomi and Eo died, but we need to keep a calm head and think this through!" Myth shouted out to Boo. Shike, Belle, and Alexia were all holding onto each other while looking down at the ground. What could I do here? Could I do anything?

"There you kids are! Hey, let's go. Can everybody move okay?" Dad asked us all. Gabrielle showed up behind him with her hands ready.

"We're fine... we lost two of ourselves," I told Dad.

"I'm sorry guys. Come with me, I can make sure the rest of you stay alive. That's a promise. Do you hear me? So long as I take steps on this ground, none of you will die." Dad told us.

"Let's go guys. I'll help Dad out." I told everybody. Shike and the others all stood up and we followed my dad as he led us toward the fountain.

"Shike, use your ability to blow away the fog," Dad told him. Shike nodded and launched off kinetic energy that acted as a source of wind, thus clearing the entirety of the courtyard around MTG. To everybody's surprise, there were probably a hundred Rubeki beginning to surround us. The kids all in the middle were scared... but my dad didn't falter.

"It's time you kids learn a great lesson from this old man! Watch and learn!" Dad said. He took off his metallic arm and it morphed into a scythe?!

Dad ran forward with a burst of speed that Boo could've matched and began cutting the Rubeki up like it was nothing. It slid through the Rubeki like a hot knife through butter.

Dad ran everywhere, jumping off of rocks, extending the scythe, and even throwing it at such a perfect angle that it flew back to him like a boomerang. A Rubeki couldn't even get within fifty feet of us. Yet, they kept coming.

Dad didn't stop either. He kept going and matched the speed that the Rubeki came in at. I've only ever seen my mom fight, but seeing my dad fight made me think that he could even take out Mom!

The Rubeki were plentiful, and I didn't want my dad to strain too much, so I made the call.

"Hey! We need to help my dad out and fight the Rubeki with him! Everybody capable of fighting, we can do this!" I yelled out. At first, nobody wanted to join, but the second Shike and Boo stood up, everybody else followed. Belle and Alexia stayed sitting down in fear, however, which was completely fine.

"I owe this species an ass-whooping. Mitra, Myth, let's go." Boo said, unsheathing her katana and focusing in on the Rubeki running toward us. Dad must've sensed what we wanted to do, as he left that side unguarded and focused on pushing the Rubeki back as far as possible from one angle.

"Illya, are you feeling up for defense?" I asked her. She scoffed and unsheathed two purple sabers, just as I did.

"I'm itching for it." She wildly smiled and ran over to another side to take on the Rubeki, just as Dad has been. Eventually, all fighters were dispatched and fought their own plethora of Rubeki.

I slid my saber through too many to count, bouncing between each and everyone while throwing my sabers. They dissipated into nothing and I resummoned them like it was nothing, cutting through them as fast as possible. I enhanced my body and my speed increased. I enhanced my arms and my strength increased. I was firing on all cylinders as I killed the Rubeki and I didn't plan on stopping. They took Naomi and Eo...

I didn't see them for two years, and I didn't have a conversation with them when I got back. Had I known today was their last days alive, I would've said something... but the Rubeki had robbed that from me.

And for that, I hate them.
