After Dani and Sky ended their talk, they entered through the top of the capitol building's terrace and ended up looking past the overhang to see all of the Arkians letting loose and having a good time.
"Doesn't it make you happy to see how they're celebrating? And, of course, how we can celebrate? We've come a long way," Dani mentioned to Sky. He let out a huge sigh and nodded, smiling while watching Charlie and Chi-Chi get to know more of each other in the corner.
"Yeah, it's nice. I think about it all the time, and I can't believe it's already been nine months since the fight with Quake. We past our one year since awakening two weeks ago, and we didn't even celebrate. Time really does fly," Sky said to her. The two walked down the steps to join the Arkians in the center while continuing their conversation.
"Don't attribute it to something bad! We all have our own birthdays at this point in time, so we celebrate then, right? Our awakening date is when we met each other, that's all. Yet, that's somehow still enough, isn't it? My point being, can't complain!" Dani lightly tapped Sky in the shoulder and the two shared a laugh.
"Dani! Sky! So glad you guys are here! We were just talking about you!" Shike shouted out through the loud music. Beside him was Belle, clinging to him in the same way that Dani did to Sky.
"Guys having your own private chat up there?" Belle asked the two, to which they both nodded.
"Hey, get this, Khalil is a killer dancer! Heyo!" Shike shouted out to Khalil from across the room. As the people spread apart for Khalil to fit through, he joined up with everybody, smiling while doing a certain dance move Sky couldn't understand.
"You guys don't do it like we do in The Americas!" Khalil shouted out. Sky couldn't help but look as Khalil turned and twisted his body. Although, Sky realized that it was important to morale, and let Khalil do his thing in front of the Arkians.
After a few more seconds of Khalil's dancing, Ruby got up on the stage in the capitol building and tapped a microphone, sending out a loud noise that stunned almost everyone, simultaneously grabbing their attention.
"Sorry about that loud noise! We're nearing the final five minutes of this year, and I wanted to get up on the stage and give out a quick speech to those around us," Ruby declared. Everybody listened happily, waiting for her to start talking.
"It's no secret that we're all here for one reason today. The bravery displayed by the Arkians on the twenty-ninth of March this year was something we had never seen before. It's no understatement to say that without the Arkians, nothing would've been left. However, you guys took that opportunity for the truth that was unavoidable, and you turned it into a place you could live within. We happily welcomed you, and you happily welcomed us," Ruby said.
"I would like to give out specific rewards, but I don't want to over shadow everybody else's accomplishments. The reason I give us all credit, is because even without a single person, it would've been impossible. Take this time to thank yourselves for having the drive and motivation to defend my home when I couldn't. I owe my life, and the thousands of other lives in here to you guys. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart," Ruby declared. The Arkians cheered her on as Midnight drew close.
"To finalize everything, I wanted to take time and say that Sky Asterio, the many my people once hated, has been working so hard to improve this city and his standing. Can we get a round of applause for Sky Asterio!" Ruby chanted. Applause erupted in the capitol building, along with a chant for his name. Even Khalil joined in.
After a little bit more time passed, Ruby got back onto the microphone to announce the final count down until midnight.
"Five!" She shouted out. Sky took another look at his friends, holding hands, placing their arms over shoulders and around necks, and smiling.
"Four!" She yelled again. Sky looked at Khalil, jumping up and down in celebration. Perhaps he was drunk.
"Three!" Came from Ruby once more. Sky smiled, taking in a breath and closing his eyes to absorb the moment.
"Two!" Ruby shouted out again. Sky turned to Dani to watch her smile, getting ready to say the one phrase she practice for the same night.
"One!" Ruby said one last time. As the words came out of her mouth, Sky surprised Dani with a kiss, leaning into it until Dani's back was bent by a little bit.
The surprise of the kiss made her happy and she pushed into it with equal force as Ruby chanted the first words of the year.
"Happy New Year, Arkians! To Twenty Four Forty Seven!" She said.
The Arkians all chanted. Those who caught Sky and Dani kissing did so on their own accord as well. Charlie and Chi-Chi were able to share one, along with Shike and Belle, Lia and Troy, and Lily and Yonoa. Those who had been talking to somebody all night had the confidence to do so.
As the people of the party all fell asleep with drinks next to their heads, or went back to their own houses, Sky and Dani walked by with blankets and pillows, handing them out to everybody who couldn't make it home, including Khalil.
"Tha-Thanks," He hiccupped. Sky chuckled, throwing the pillow down and allowing Khalil to rest as he wished.
Sky and Dani returned to the balcony of the capitol building with a filled drink in Sky's hand. Once he made it to the railing, he poured it out onto the ground a floor underneath him.
"And Happy New Year to you too, Faith. I hope you're doing alright out there," Sky said. He looked at Dani with a smile, and the two went back to their dwelling.
