Feigning Happiness

Danera lowered her head in fear, looking into Zayn's piercing blue eyes. She didn't expect to replace her twin sister in marriage with Zayn Wilde, a man she had secretly loved for ten years.

Danera's heart was beating fast. Her lips wore a wry smile. No one knew that she harbored feelings for her twin sister's fiancé.

"Don't look so glum. Other people will get suspicious." Billy whispered, seeing his daughter keep her head down with a glum expression. "This is your wedding. You should smile happily." He pinched Danera's arm.

Danera took a deep breath and tried to smile happily. Think of it as her wedding, and she would marry the man she loved.

The melodious wedding music made the atmosphere solemn and emotional as the bride and groom went to the altar.

But the man at the end looked cold and aloof. The look in his eyes that looked at Danera was very indifferent.

They stopped in front of Zayn. Billy came forward to hand Danera's hand to the man.

"Please take good care of my daughter. She's our precious daughter." Billy made a tear-wiping gesture as if he was too heavy to let go of his daughter and was moved.

Zayn looked at him expressionlessly and replied coldly. "Don't worry, Mr. Gillard."

Danera could feel the man's eyes boring into her as he took her arm.

A priest began the wedding procession and exchanged rings. The guests' applause echoed after the bride and groom exchanged rings.

"Groom, please kiss the bride."

Danera's eyes widened at the words. Her heart was beating fast.

Zayn looked at Danera and grabbed her tiny waist. Zayn's face still looked cold as he approached Danera's face.

Their faces were so close that Danera could feel Zayn's warm, mint-scented breath. She closed her eyes tightly.

"Don't get your hopes up in this marriage. You're just a substitute until I find Doriane," Zayn whispered in a low voice in Danera's ear. He gripped Danera's waist tightly.

Danera's heart was beating so fast that it felt tight. She bit her lower lip hard. Her eyes glazed over.

Danera took a deep breath to endure the pain in her waist caused by Zayn's grip.

"I understand," Dhara said softly and hoarsely.

Zayn's grip loosened. He glanced at Danera's beautiful face.

The girl was biting her lower lip until it turned white. Her face looked pale. But her lips looked seductive. She looked at Zayn with teary eyes as if she would cry, but she was held back.

Zayn was silent. Danera and Doriane are identical twins, but their personalities are very different.

Doriane is a cheerful and arrogant girl. She always behaved sweetly to get everyone's attention. She would not shut up and make a fuss if someone bullied her. She won't hold back complaints or cry like her twin sister Danera.

Zayn couldn't stand the pitiful look in her eyes. He looked down at Danera's seductive lips and said in a low voice, "Hm, I hope you become an obedient wife." Then kissed the girl on the lips.

A standing ovation broke out after the bride and groom kissed.

The wedding feast went on without incident.

After the wedding, Zayn did not stay at the hotel for his honeymoon as planned long ago. He left as soon as it was over in a bad mood.

The Wilde family did not prevent Zayn from leaving. Perhaps Doriane's leaving the wedding and running off with another man made it unpleasant.

The Gillard family repeatedly apologized but was ignored by Zayn and the Wilde family. Danera is caught up in this problem and doesn't know what to do.

Billy urged Danera to follow Zayn to maintain her marital status immediately.

"After all, you are married in the eyes of others. Don't make Doriane's problems exposed and embarrass the family." Billy said to his daughter with annoyance and impatience because Danera just kept quiet when Zayn left.

Emily, who heard that, nodded in agreement. "That's right, Danera, for now, you are Zayn's wife in the eyes of others. Keep that up until Zayn decides to divorce."

"Bu-but... what about my job and... and Doriane's friends? What if they ask and get suspicious? I can't lie ...." Danera said weakly and uneasily.

"Just do what you're asked! You just sit back and be Zayn's wife and stay at home! No one gets suspicious!" Billy snapped impatiently and wanted to hit his daughter for being a coward. If only there were no Wilde family in front of them.

Danera didn't know how to take advantage of being Zayn's wife and the Wilde family's daughter-in-law!

Danera was very different from Doriane. If it were Doriane, she would have done everything possible to climb the status ladder in high society.

But who knows what made Doriane change and run away on her wedding day? Her daughters were so useless!

Danera looked down in shame at being scolded by her father and couldn't argue.

She looked down sadly and squeezed the wedding dress she was still wearing.

Emily's brow furrowed at Billy's treatment of her daughter.

"Shut up! It's all your fault for spoiling Doriane so much that she had the nerve to go out with another man on her wedding day!" Billy scolded his wife.

Alice retorted. "It's not Doriane's fault! Who knows if she was kidnapped to ruin this wedding? As her father, you must stand up for your daughter and find a way to find Doriane. I'll go to the police to find Doriane!"

Billy's eyes bulged. "Don't you dare go to the police! Do you want everyone to know that Doriane ran off with another man and disgraced the Gillard family!"
