Bride Runs Away

In a beautifully decorated hall, the whispers of guests buzzed in the hall where the wedding party was held.

A tall man clad in a black tuxedo that accentuated his slender, well-built body stood with a dark, cold expression, listening to the explanation of a staff member whispering in his ear.

Zayn Wilde, a handsome billionaire and CEO of the Wilde Group, was seen holding back anger. Who would have thought he would be such a pathetic man to be abandoned on his wedding day by the woman he had been with for five years for running off with another man?

Meanwhile, on the other side of the room, the Gillard family continued apologizing remorsefully in front of the Wilde family for the daughter's running away.

"Mr. Wilde, please forgive us for not educating Dorianeproperly!" Billy Gillard's old body trembled anxiously, afraid of the Wilde family's overwhelming anger.

Billy was very scared and regretted not teaching his eldest daughter a lesson. She fled with another man on her wedding day, leaving their family to bear the Wilde family's wrath.

The Gillards were a wealthy family that was not well known in the capital's high society. They were lucky that their daughter, Doriane Gillard, was engaged to Zayn Wilde, who made their family name skyrocket in high society.

Who would have thought the most proud daughter would be so stupid as to run away with another man and leave Zayn Wilde?

"Mr. Gillard, how will you take responsibility for Doriane'sactions? She left this marriage and eloped with another man! My son is still waiting, and so are the guests. We can't just announce that Doriane ran off with another man and disgraced our family." Emily, Mrs. Wilde, and Zayn's mother, demanded an explanation from the Gillard couple, Billy Gillard and his wife, Alice.

Joshua stood beside his wife, looking at Billy with a grim expression. His son would be humiliated, and the Wilde family's reputation would fall if the escaped bride incident got out.

Alice frantically and anxiously tried to calm the angry Emily.

"Mrs. Wilde, please forgive us. We... didn't expect this to happen. Doriane is usually an obedient and good girl, and she loves Zayn very much. The staff must have been blind and accused Doriane of running away with another man. She must have been kidnapped."

Her husband nodded at his wife's explanation.

Joyce snorted with a sarcastic laugh.

"Kidnapped? No kidding. The CCTV footage shows that Doriane left with a man willingly. She even left a letter that she didn't want to marry Zayn. That bitch cheated on me all this time behind my brother's back. If she didn't want to continue this marriage, she should have given notice earlier instead of leaving Zayn on their wedding day! She wants to embarrass Zayn and our family!" She sneered angrily.

The Gillard family was anxious at Joyce's words.

"What should we do now?" Alice whispered worriedly to her husband.

A girl dressed as a maid of honor entered and saw the two families gathered.

" Dad, Mom... what's going on?" She asked in a cautious and curious voice.

Alice turned to glare at the girl.

"Danera, where have you been?! You're supposed to be looking after your sister!" She vented her anger on the girl.

Danera winced and was confused at being yelled at by her other.

"I-I went to the kitchen for a while to get the cookies Dorianeasked for ...." She stammered, showing a plate of cookies in her hand.

Alice dismissed the plate and slapped her.

"Useless! Because of you, Doriane was taken away by another man!"

"Mom!" Danera gasped, holding her cheeks. Her eyes turned red, looking at Alice. She looked down in shame at being slapped in front of the Wilde family.

Danera was Doriane's twin sister and the second young lady of the Gillard family. Although they were twins and biological children, the Gillard family's treatment of the twins was very different.

Doriane was much loved and pampered by her family, while Danera was like a child who was not considered. The difference in their traits was also striking.

Doriane was cheerful and pleasant, making her well-loved by those around her. Danera, on the other hand, was shy and quiet, so people ignored her, including her parents.

Emily frowned at Alice's act of slapping Danera in front of them.

"Mrs. Gillard, why are you taking out your anger on Danerawhen the wrong one is Doriane? Is this how you treat Danera?"

Alice stammered and was embarrassed. She was so scared and anxious about venting her anger on Danera that she forgot other people were in the room.

She wasn't too fond of her other daughter, Danera. When she was seven years old, Danera accidentally pushed Alice, who was pregnant with a boy, causing a miscarriage, and she could not get pregnant again.

She hated this daughter for causing her to lose the chance of having a son.

Alice always hid her true feelings for Danera from others. She only loved Doriane.

"Mrs. Wilde, don't misunderstand. I'm just worried. Danerawas also at fault for not taking care of Doriane until another man kidnaped her." Alice defended herself.

"Doriane herself wanted to go with another man. She even left her wedding dress behind." Joyce sneered.

"Miss Joyce, you are Doriane's best friend. Why do you keep accusing her like that? That evil man must have kidnapped Doriane. Doriane can't possibly leave someone like Zayn. She wants this marriage and loves Zayn."

"Don't make excuses! Mom and Dad just canceled the wedding. It's no use arguing with them."

"No! Mrs. and Mr. Wilde, please don't cancel the wedding!" Billy exclaimed anxiously.

"If this wedding is canceled, our family will be disgraced. How about this: the guests and Zayn don't know that Dorianeran away, but I still have another daughter. Danera is Doriane's twin sister. If I change the bride, no one will know. The wedding will still take place."
