The next day at work, the news that Edward Ford had agreed to let Peter Brown buy a terraced villa spread, and people were saying all sorts of things.
"Peter, the problem is a bit complicated. A lot of people below have opinions about Edward Ford agreeing to the preferential house purchase, saying all sorts of odd things." Ivy Cooper actually came running over and whispered this to Peter Brown.
When Peter Brown turned around, he caught a glimpse of the snowy white patch beneath Ivy's floral shirt, which made his eyes heat up.
"Is it mainly because they say I'm not a key employee, nor a talent?"
"Yes, and don't get upset when I say this, but people think you're a migrant worker who became a full employee without making any substantial contributions to the company. They say you got promoted to vice director because you're related to Edward Ford, or something. There's all manner of weird talk."
