Chapter two

Leia seemed restless. None of the magic books had what she was looking for.Then she remembered that she had abilities to disappear and appear. She smiled wickedly as she remembered what she was missing.She could easily appear and disappear. How could she forget that?

Shee stood up and adjusted her dress and made an illusion of herself sleeping on the bed and looked out of the window at thecool summer flowers .She adjusted the bed and then disappeared and within seconds, she was in the village.

Leia looked at her disguise and smiled.She had changed into a commoner's clothes making it easy for her to blend in.She saw a group of children playing and as she ran to join their circle, a boy set out his leg in her path and she tripped and was about to fall into a muddy ditch.The annoying part was to none of these naughty children made to help her except one.He rescued her just before she fell;causing him to suffer few injuries.

Princess Leia was angry at the little miscreants as she termedb them and lookes at her saviour and well,he wasn't what she was expecting. Oh boy! he looked stunning with the black curly hair,fair skin and cool lips.She felt shy and muttered thank you .

"Now,Rolands,what was that about? what if she goes hurt?" He asked.He was about age ten and was more responsible than his age.

"Pooh! Look who comes as a messiah! Why not go and save your mother?Hunh?" The Rolands in question taunted.

Princess Leia felt bad seeing the countenance of her saviour. Who was this little miscreant anyway? Deep down she knew she was about to cause trouble as Roland's skin suddenly began to itch and sores appeared on him.The others gasped but Leia was smart enough to behave in a manner that no one would suspect her by hypothesizing them.

The mention of his mother weakened him and he left the scene as quietly as he came. Leia followed him as he walked away and sat on a cliff.

"Umm...."Leia said. She was few paces behind him." Excuse me?"

The boy turned, wiping his tears away as quickly as possible. Leia's heart melted seeing the little saviour of hers cry." I'm sorry." He muttered trying to get a grip on himself.

"I just wanted to thank you for helping me."

"Oh! It was nothing. You are welcome..."

"Leia. Princess Leia. "

The boy was taken aback as he saw the princess. He looked around to see if any guards were close by but there was none. How could they be so careless to let her out of their sight. What if she got hurt? Thousands of thoughts ran riot in his mind.

"Calm down, okay? I'm here on my own to make friends. So can we keep the princess part of me and become friends?" She asked, hands stretched out.

The boy took it." Friends. I'm Julian. "

"So tell me, Julian what's wrong with your mother?" She asked, taking her seat beside him.

"Mother is suffering from a rare disease and we can barely feed talk more of affording her medications and she is dying everyday. "

"I'm sorry," was all Leia could say. She felt awful. "And your dad?"

Julian shrugged." Mother said he died when I was just a baby. It has been me and my mum ever since." He said and suddenly smiled." But I know she would get better."

"I believe that,"she said and looked around. He time was far spent and knew she had to return home but suddenly felt duty bound to help her messiah mother.

"Julian can I see your mother?"

"Yeah sure," He said as he stood up and helped her up. He led the way and tried to engage her in a conversation. "Now tell me how you manged to get out of the palace without the palace guard? Won't your dad and mum complain or get angry?"

"Don't you worry a thing about me. I always manage to sneak out of the palace everytime,"Leia said with a smile and Julian smiled back.

They walked on and chatted about other trivial issues before they arrived at a poor shanty house and Leia felt poverty written all over the walls. She couldn't believe her eyes.

"You live here?"she asked. She couldn't contain her disbelief.

"Yes and welcome to my very humble abode." He sad with smile and led the way in.

His mother was laying down and it was obvious that she was dying every minute. Her eyes were red and the tears came running down when she coughed. Julian rushed to get her some water while Leia sat close to the sick woman. They helped her up and she drank some water but instead of getting better,she slumped. Julian watched as life slowly slipped out of his mother.

"Mama...Mama...."He cried out." Please don't do this to me...Mama....Mama...." He broke into tears.

Leia who was morbid in her own world was suddenly brought back by the cute little messiah of hers crying for his mother.

"Hey! Let me help," she said calmly and gently pushed Julian aside. She knelt down and placed her hands on the woman's chest to feel if there was still life in her. Then she remove the earrings and bracelet and placed them on the woman's chest and and muttered some words that sounded strange. Julian wiped his tears as he watched what was going on in awe.

When the magic powers was at its peak ,the woman jerked as life was constantly flowing back to her. Julian couldn't believe his eyes. His mother who was but a minute ago lifeless was suddenly full of life.

"Mama?mama??" He cried in excitement as he ran into her warm embrace. "I thought I'd lost you." Words couldn't explain how he felt. He then looked at the princess with love and admiration and then dragged her into the embrace.
