An Unexpected And Devastating Loss

Kenta and Shiori have arrived in Kyoto.

Kenta carried Suzume's body through the streets where she lived.

Kenta knocks on Suzume's family's front door, where her mother answers.

"I'm sorry for the late interruption. But something tragic has happened that we can't keep from you and your family," Kenta said in a sad voice.

"Of course, tell me what happened." The mother answers cluelessly.

Kenta picked up Suzume's body, which was covered with a white blanket, and stood right in front of Suzume's mother.

"It pains me to say this myself, but we lost a very good friend today in the fight against a Godforce user. Your daughter Suzume. Passed away. Her murderer is still unclear, but I guarantee that I will take revenge for her," Kenta said confidently.

"No... that can't be true! Not my daughter! It's your fault! If you hadn't saved her from the boy, she would never have come with you! When you showed up boy, she only talked about you when she made the stopover here and then went on the journey with you!" Suzume's mother said with a loud voice and sadness.

"I'm terribly sorry, but I'll take any blame for her death," said Kenta.

"But Kenta..." said Shiori.

"It's okay Shiori. It's okay." Kenta said in a calm voice.

"Why does Suzume had to love such an asshole..." Suzume's mother said as she removed the blanket to see her daughter.

Suzume's mother strokes her daughter's cheeks and can't hold back her tears. Neither can her brother or her father.

"We would like to bury Suzume. You are welcome to attend. We'll go to the cemetery now and have her buried," Kenta said, covering her face with the blanket again.

"Okay. We'll catch up with you," Suzume's mother said as she closed the door.

"Have you spoken to the people on the phone?" Kenta asks Shiori.

"Yes, I have. Everything is ready," said Shiori.

"Okay." Kenta replies.

15 minutes later, all of Suzume's relatives and close friends were there to see her off for the last time.

After the funeral was over, everyone went home again. Only Kenta stayed in front of her grave for a very long time, mourning and thinking about what he had done wrong.

"It's my fault, Suzume... I wish I had known." Kenta said and started to cry.

"I'm such an idiot, I only cared about Shiori and not about you. If I could, I would save you directly. If I could..." Kenta said as he crouched on the ground.

Suddenly a voice came into his head.

"It's not your fault Kenta." said a very familiar voice.

When Kenta blinked again, he was in a completely unfamiliar area. A huge meadow. Nothing far and wide. Only peace.

"It wasn't your fault Kenta." said the familiar voice again.

Kenta turned around and saw Suzume. Who gave him a beautiful smile.

"Su...zume how can you?" Kenta asks, desperate and confused.

"You are talking to my soul Kenta. I died too soon. That's why I'm at peace here for now before I can go to heaven," Suzume said as she continued to smile at him.

"I'm so sorry Suzume... I wish I hadn't..." Kenta falls to his knees as he says this and bursts into tears.

Suzume went to him and hugged him tightly.

"You don't have to apologize for anything. You did everything right." Suzume said in a reassuring voice.

"Of course I have to. You died..." Kenta said.

"Because I was too lenient," Suzume replies.

"Suzume... do you remember who killed you?" asks Kenta.

"I only know roughly what he looked like and not who he was...he was tall, had a goatee and carried a sword." Suzume said.

Kenta was shocked when he heard her description.

"Could it be....that Jin killed you?" said Kenta angrily.

"Jin? Jin wouldn't do something like that. He wouldn't kill his friends," said Suzume.

"But he's been missing since the incident," said Kenta.

"That's strange, no doubt about it, but your time is up for now. One person needs your help Kenta..." Suzume said as she distanced herself from him.

"No, no, no, no, I can't leave you here alone," Kenta said.

"It's okay Kenta. I'll wait for your next visit." Suzume said and she snapped.

Suddenly Kenta was back in Kyoto and no longer with Suzume. Where Shiori was also there at once.

"Finally. You were like a corpse," said Shiori. "I'd hate to lose you on the same day, too."

"I wish it was me," said Kenta.

"What are you saying?" says Shiori angrily.

"I wish it was m-" Kenta stops as Shiori slaps him in the face.

"Don't say that... you know I can't stand that and... I couldn't survive without you either, Kenta." Shiori said as tears streamed down her face.

"Sorry." Kenta says.

Kenta sat down on the bench that was right next to him and Shiori sat down right next to him.

Shiori leaned her head against his shoulder.

"Idiot... never say that again. You know how emotional I get when you say it." Shiori said.

"Okay, I won't." replies Kenta.

"I don't think I'm in a position to fight Mordred... I've lost one of my best friends," Kenta said.

"You have to go through it Kenta. You are the last hope of us all."
