Volleyball Club

Two days had passed since meeting the players of the Inarizaki volleyball club and today was the day of the practice match.

It was a beautiful morning and a great day for a volleyball match. Hiroki had great expectations for the other first years.

Coming to Inarizaki and being in the squad was not something easy to accomplish as Inarizaki was an ambitious school looking to win the national championship.

As Hiroki walked on his way to school, he met a fellow first-year, Yuki Shiroshi. Shiroshi was a libero.

As they walked on and eventually got to the school, the two got to know each other. Shiroshi went to Eibon Junior High and was one of the top 5 libero's. Their team came just short in their prefecture qualifiers finals.

It took a few minutes for everybody to come and get ready. Today was a huge day for the first years as they would be analyzed and see if they were fit to be in the starting lineup.

For Inarizaki, there were huge holes to fill in. They lost a few of their most valuable players when they graduated. Ace, Aran Ojiro was their main cannon, as he was the one to rack up the most points; Middle blocker, Ren Omimi, with his experience and knowledge, left a void; And one that wouldn't seem like it much was captain, Shinsuke Kita.

Kita was the one you would be able to rely on in times of need; Whether it'd be controlling the Miya's or resetting the team and give them the advantage. With a player gone it'd be hard in times of despair.

Coach Tarou Oomi soon came and called out the first years and the team they would play in. In Team A was: Miya Atsumu, Kenji Hiroki, and Yuki Shiroshi. Team B had: Miya Osamu, Rei Isao, and Hikaru Komaki.

The coach had a huge expectation from the first years. He talked about what he expected and how the match was going to played. "We'll play a match and I'll be watching your abilities to see if you're going to be in my lineup. Coming to this school and wanting to be in the lineup is a huge thing so I'm expecting a good performance." the coach said.

The game started off with team A serving first and it was Hiroki up to serve. When the whistle blew, Hiroki took a deep breath, and with a good run-up, he unleashed a killer serve that got them a no-touch ace.

"Yeah!"

Hiroki unleashed a killer serve and it was picked up by Osamu, but returned to team A's side. The libero picked it up and Atsumu set a high arc served to Hiroki, who hitted it but was touched by the blockers.

"One touch!"

Komaki got the ball and gave it to Osamu who set it for middle blocker Isao. The spike was touched by Atsumu and Hiroki and the libero managed to dive for it to get it in the air but it was a low and bad receive.

Somehow Atsumu got to it and managed to make a perfect set for Hiroki who slammed it in for the point.

Atsumu was truly amazing, being able to make a bad receive into a great set was not something many could do. It was expected of the best high school setter.

Hitoshi Ginjima, also known as Gin, was watching the match and laughed to himself when he saw how Atsumu managed to set that.

"Haha, what else would you expect from Atsumu, there's a reason why he's the best setter. He's a great player but a daring one too." Gin said as he smirked.

Hiroki POV

--

That was unexpected, he made that bad receive into a great set, That sure is amazing. Atsumu Miya huh. Seriously what is he? Being able to do that, I was surprised as hell.

I was up to serve again and I slammed it to where Isao was. Unexpectedly he picked it up and Osamu slammed it to our side, but I dove to get the ball and got it in the air.

For some reason, the people watching were surprised. I wasn't surprised I was able to get that. I got it high in the air, which gave me and Atsumu enough time to be able to be ready to attack.

"Give me a high one!" I yelled out

He gave me another high arc set and once again I got the point. It was now 3-0. We were in the lead and I served again, but this time Osamu picked it up and Isao set it to him. He spiked where no one was, but I got to it. Once again, everyone looked suprised.

This time Atsumu made the spike and got the point.

"Hey! how were you even able to get that? Seriously that's two times already," Osamu said to me

I though of the what to say, but all I could say was that it was just simple to get it.

They looked shocked when I said that, but I guess they should be. A person saying that a spike like that, where others would have a hard time receiving, was simple to get would be pretty shocking I guess.

I guess I just got used to stuff like this.

I've been doing this since I was a kid almost every day, so it's only natural that it's simple for me. Stuff like eating healthy, exercising, getting good sleep, and playing volleyball, are part of my everyday life and it's become a hobby, I told them.

When I was much younger, I wouldn't care for stuff like these, I would just be lazy, but after doing them every day, it's become a part of my life. I practiced with old men and received many spikes, exercised daily, and always ate a healthy meal.

...

As the game went on, we continued to rack up points. There wasn't really anything that surprising, but they were great and gave us a hard time in the second set.

We won the first set by a margin of (25-21) and luckily we came with the second set by a score of (30-28)

It was an intense match, but we were sneaking in some points that got us the win.

After the match, the coach had a few things to say, such as he saw great things and a good future for this team. He welcomed all of us into the volleyball club and said that we would soon get our new jerseys.

I didn't show it too much, but I was extremely glad that I got into the team. Winning games and going to nationals was something I wanted to do.

5929 characters and 1125 words...Creation is hard, cheer me up! The ending was probably a bit rushed. A new chapter maybe tomorrow?
