A Plan

Zheng Mi Rae glanced at her husband who was sleeping soundly in the passenger seat and shook her head. They had just driven through the night and he was now exhausted. She had to even force him to change the driving seat if he did not want to reach the hospital in an ambulance. They were an hour away from reaching and she hoped that he would be able to sleep peacefully for a while..

But this thought had just entered her mind when his phone started to ring. With one hand on the wheel, Mi Rae tried to use her other hand to pull out the phone from his pocket when he caught her wrist and complained," Sweetheart! I know we left in the middle last night but you can't torture me like this. How can you molest me while I am trying sleep?"

Immediately knowing that her husband was pulling her hand towards his 'junk', even as he kept his eyes closed, she snatched her hand back and slapped him on the arm. Putting her hand back to the wheel, she snapped," Since you are awake, answer your phone!"

"My Mi Rae! You are so boring! We should have some fun on the highway!"

Used to her husband's naughty ways, Mi Rae ignored him and continued to drive while he called back to the person whoever had called him.

Mi Rae spied the town's sign indicating it was only a few kilometers ahead and sighed in relief. But she had not even thought of stretching her legs when Neil urgently gestured for her to park on the side. Slowing down the car and checking for traffic, she changed lanes and slowly parked the car, watching Neil and listening to the instructions he was giving into the phone.

After the phone conversation, Neil turned to Mi Rae and grinned," My lovely wife! Turn back! We are going home!"

Mi Rae simply folded her arms in front of her chest and raised an eyebrow! They had travelled so long not so that they could simply drive back! They were not moving until she knew clearly what was going on! Immediately understanding his wife, Neil explained," I asked my people to check on Matt's situation and where this wife and child had suddenly cropped up from! The woman is actually an old acquaintance. You might remember her. She was the official wedding photographer for our wedding as well as Al's and Ryu's. I even tried to get her during Ah Hai and Shi Ai's wedding but at that time she had declined due to personal reasons!"

As he finished saying this he looked expectantly at his wife as if she would already understand what was brewing in his mind. But all he got was a blank stare! So Neil sighed and shook his head at his slow wife and explained," Since we know the woman a bit, we can be sure that she is no gold digger! So by the time we do a deeper investigation, we know that at present Matt does not need to be saved! Since Matt has decided to help the woman, it means he feels something...whatever it is! So if we go there, Matt will have a chance to escape! You know that Matt has been indifferent to everything since Jianan left this world.. But last night he tried to save the little girl and Miss Xue and even took responsibility for the child through the night! And this morning, he had already taken counter measures after finding out that the Mayor of the town was involved! That means he is not as indifferent to these people! This means that his heart has a chance of revival!"

Mi Rae stared at her husband in shock. She had always known that he was too manipulative but she did not understand how he had reached the conclusion that Matt was moved by these people! He had not even met any of the parties concerned. She tried to understand what Neil could mean but nothing logical came to mind.. Neil understood his wife's doubtful looks and commented," Mi Rae! My love? Would you like to make a bet with me? Matt will be married again within six months and happy in a new life within twelve months..."

This caused Mi Rae to widen her eyes and stare at Neil as she asked cautiously," Just what is going on in that devilish head of yours, Neil Long?"

Neil, however just grinned and explained," Nothing much! You know I don't like to meddle in other people's business..."

Just that line made Mi Rae want to snort and point out the many people's affairs he had meddled in but letting him maintain his image, she nodded and encouraged him to continue, her eyes widening as she heard his plan... Even while she remained shell shocked and tried to think of ways to dissuade Neil from his plan the obnoxious man had already made a phone call to set things in motion!!

Once the call was over, Mi Rae finally found her voice back and asked in a scandalized whisper," Neil Long! I can't believe that instead of helping your brother, you are putting more obstacles in his way! How can this be helpful! He pulled strings to get that Mayor Oh out of his hair and you told those people to go easy on that wretched mayor!"

But Neil just grinned and continued to search something on his phone while he spoke, "Mi Rae, my love! Trust me on this...Even if Matt finds out, he may punch me but eventually he will thank me! And now, since we were both left hungry last night, I have found a good hotel nearby! Let's continue to the hotel and finish what we started. This way we will be nearby if Matt needs us but not in the way of some romance..."
