With every move he made, his effortless poise, he seemed like a leisurely sovereign. Just watching him, Sophia felt overwhelmed with pressure.
His natural dominant aura was something no scions of wealth Fiona introduced her to could match.
Sophia couldn't help but question herself, if she were to face him at the gambling table again, could she still confidently claim to be the "Gambling God's Granny"?
The next second, Sophia snapped back to reality.
Damn it, she wasn't here to be overshadowed by a handsome man, much less to become weak.
"Ha," Leo chuckled lightly, clearly having read through the recent psychological changes in Sophia. Without a word, he gave her a meaningful smile, then walked away.
Leaving Sophia red-faced and seething with rage.
In the evening, Sophia sat alone at the long dining table. After the day's intimidating experience, every servant was extremely cautious around her. Sophia numbly stuffed food into her mouth, overhearing two maids and the butler discussing where to arrange her accommodation.
Guestroom? The room by the small garden? Outside in Leo's private villa...
Sophia had heard at least seven or eight options.
"Take me to CEO Leo's room!" Sophia said lightly after finishing the last piece of beef.
"What?" The butler and the servants were stunned; she dared to make such a request.
"That's impossible. No woman has ever entered the young master's room. Miss Sophia, please choose another room," the butler replied politely.
Sophia ignored these words. "No woman has ever entered, huh? Heh, well, that record is about to be broken now."
She flicked her naturally wavy, glossy black hair, showing a confident smile. Then she gracefully stood up and walked upstairs as if she was in her own home.
If she really managed to break into Leo's room, the butler wouldn't need to live anymore. Seeing Sophia climbing to the second floor, he hurriedly signaled the bodyguards in hiding to emerge and stop her.
Soon, sounds of a scuffle came from upstairs, terrifying the butler. Everything in the upstairs corridor was invaluable; if something was accidentally damaged, what then?
Thus, the butler, usually the epitome of decorum, ran upstairs without a care for his image. Just reaching the second floor, he saw that woman using her right ankle to hook an early Qing Dynasty cloisonné vase, trying to put it back on the shelf while simultaneously fighting two bodyguards.
"Stop right now!" The butler's heart nearly leapt out of his throat. He thought this woman was just prettier than Miss Molly, but who knew she was also more violent? It seemed neither bodyguard could subdue her; was calling in more bodyguards the only solution?
While he worried, he saw the cloisonné vase she nudged onto the shelf wobbling to balance.
The butler nearly fainted with fright and rushed forward to catch the vase, but after a few quick spins, it steadied itself on the shelf.
Just as he sighed in relief, he saw the woman opening the door to the young master's room and entering. The butler collapsed, stiff as a board, to the floor.
"Butler, butler..." The servants rushing up afterward hurriedly called out to him.
Chaos reigned outside, but inside Leo's room, Sophia was immersed in silence, only her footsteps audible.
The door dramatically vibrated, clearly, the simple-minded yet physically apt bodyguards were trying to break in. What a joke, she, a top international female detective who had picked countless locks, found this one the hardest, taking her a whole five seconds. In a murder case, five seconds were enough for her to die a hundred times.
However, this also proved there must be secrets in this room, otherwise, why secure it with such a complex lock. Moreover, during her fight with the bodyguards, she realized more than once that someone was aiming a gun at her in the shadows. Whether it was real bullets or tranquilizers, she couldn't tell.
Scanning the room, tuned to the nuances of light, Sophia spotted no less than ten omnidirectional rotating cameras, covering the room in a 360-degree, no-blind-spot surveillance network.
Sophia rolled her eyes at her reflection in the mirror, disdainfully thinking of Leo.
Pretending to be curious, Sophia searched here and there. She wouldn't find a box of gold bricks; Leo wouldn't hide it in such a private place. But finding other illegal bits and pieces wouldn't be too bad.
After a thorough search turned up nothing, Sophia couldn't help feeling a bit disheartened.
Knowing this, she wouldn't have alarmed the enemy.
All the commotion made Sophia sweat a bit, but considering another fight if she went out to find another room to shower, she decided it was best to wash up quickly before Leo came back to settle accounts with her.
Perversely, the bathroom also had fully automatic cameras, cunningly placed. Sophia had quite a task making all of them permanently "close their eyes" with small flying darts.
No matter how quick she was, she couldn't get dressed before Leo barged in; the bathroom door was pulled open, and Sophia only managed to put on her underwear.
