They made their army, either from puppetry, Kin manipulation, or dominion.

The monarch of Destruction, Frost, Beast, Iron Body, white flames, and Beginning lead their own kin to war.

The monarch of plaque controls insect-type monsters like puppets with her poisons.

The monarch of transfiguration corrupted human sorcerers into becoming his subordinates.

And finally, Shadow Monarch, who uses absolute dominion over his servants.

"In this case... Curse spirits are the only threats to this world. And, all traits except for dominion are the only thing that will help me."

Puppetry is trash, and Kin manipulation is trash. Obtaining absolute loyalty from your servant is clearly the path he should take.

Therefore...

Monarchs, in all honesty, are weaker than demon lords. They are spiritual beings too, they can stay conscious in the suspended world, or even attain their memories whenever their universe got reset.

But their lack of control over the world's law was the reason the shadow Monarch bested them out.

Both Monarchs and Rulers obtain their ability from the absolute being's wish for entertainment. Nothing major was made by themselves.

Their grasped-over information particles are lacking, therefore they aren't able to stop time on their own. Their understanding of skills is limited due to the fact skills do not evolve in their universe.

Overall, it was due to the absence of Voice of the World in their verse.

So that's why the new monarchs have the upper hand.

"Heh, Geto would be surprised if he was still alive."

The trait that Gojo chooses, shall be the domination path.

The ability to dominate curse spirits and obtain their utmost loyalty... It was the same ability that his friend holds before he killed him with his two hands.

And to obtain that, Gojo had calculated all things prepared.

Then he brought it up where the moonlight illuminated it through his hands and his blue eyes.

Thus, he executed the evolution:

Cursed energies both negative and reversed enter his body and acted suspiciously like Magicules.

If curse energy is produced by negative emotions, then humans are basically a cursed energy power plant.

But that doesn't mean those who do not produce negative emotions often can't control cursed energy.

Therefore, the king of curses is not someone who let out negative emotions regularly, but someone who has complete control over their emotions.

The desire for bloodbath and torture is just something Sukuna takes a fancy to.
