Julius sat at the desk in the study, his narrowed eyes fixed on Maverick and Henry, who stood side by side, facing him. Maverick maintained a casual stance, hands clasped behind his back, while Henry appeared noticeably tense, beads of sweat forming at Julius's furious expression.
After a long silence, Julius finally spoke, his tone icy. "So who is that woman?"
Henry cleared his throat and answered, "She's the newly hired tutor, Your Highness, here to teach the children reading and writing. I hired her myself. My lord didn't know anything about this."
Julius tilted his head, unamused. "Then why was she alone with Maverick in the study instead of being with the children?"
Henry wiped his brow, glancing nervously at Maverick before answering, "About that, Your Highness… I didn't expect Miss Stranger to visit my lord unannounced."
Maverick sighed, cutting in, "Julius, she came to discuss the children's progress. Nothing happened."
