Second, with the assistance of a dream citizen, he should request entry from the owner of the consciousness. If the owner was awake, they had to acknowledge his presence willingly. However, if the owner was asleep and temporarily unavailable, he had to be someone the owner trusted.
Third, once Philip entered the other person's consciousness, he would need to attempt various methods to rouse Gerald. This was a challenging task, as it was closely tied to Gerald's current mental struggles.
