“With the power to grasp the sun and moon, to pluck the stars—no one else in the world stands as I do!” It’s said that Huo Yuhao ultimately lost his original purpose, reduced to a pawn of Tang San. Chapter 48: Elder Xuan’s Embarrassment

"Bang!"

The ghostly white flames engulfing Xiao Yan's hand met the oncoming yellow meteor shower. For a brief moment, there was a stalemate, but then, to Elder Xuan's shock, the meteors began to freeze, turning from yellow to a crystalline white, finally solidifying mid-air.

"What… freezing energy itself? What kind of soul skill is this?" Elder Xuan shuddered, feeling like cold water had been poured over him. As a seasoned Super Douluo, he knew the gap in power levels all too well, and this cloaked figure's strength was clearly beyond his.

"A Limit Douluo… or even a demigod? Extreme ice… it's you! It has to be!" He struggled to get the words out, his previous bravado gone, his voice trembling as he asked, "Who… who are you?"

Meanwhile, back at Shrek Academy's Sea God Pavilion, Elder Yan Shaozhe had been preparing to retire for the night when he suddenly sensed two powerful energy signatures clashing in the southeastern part of Shrek City.

"What's going on? Elder Xuan is fighting someone in the city?" Yan Shaozhe muttered, his weariness replaced with alarm. Standing beside him was the burly, silver-haired Vice Dean of the Soul Guidance Department, Qian Duoduo.

"Those two towering auras… who could it be?" Qian Duoduo's face was unusually grave, sensing the strong energy fluctuations.

"Old Qian, we need to hurry over. Whoever the other person is, their strength rivals Elder Xuan's." Shaozhe's voice was tense as he nodded to Qian Duoduo, who echoed his concern.

"Could it be… a Limit Douluo?" Qian Duoduo glanced at Shaozhe, equally uneasy. "Let's go. Should we notify Elder Mu?"

A scoff came from Yan Shaozhe. "You think Elder Mu needs you to notify him?" Shaozhe's soul rings lit up—two yellow, two purple, five black—illuminating the feathered wings that sprouted from his back. With Qian Duoduo at his side, they both shot into the sky, streaking toward the source of the clash.

Elsewhere, at the entrance to the Shrek Academy's outer dormitories, an elderly man in gray was lounging, seemingly asleep. Yet, in the blink of an eye, he disappeared, leaving the chair empty.

In the secluded alley, fists collided with flesh, and the air pulsed with energy as groans and yelps echoed down the empty street.

"Stop hitting my face! Ow—"

"Let me go! Freezing me doesn't prove anything!"

Xiao Yan, his hand sore from repeated punches, watched Elder Xuan, now frozen in a column of strange ice, battered and bruised. After a moment of silence, his voice, layered with Yao Lao's ancient tone, coldly warned, "Old man, I'll be in Shrek City for a while. But I'll advise you: stop investigating me, or next time, I won't hold back."

With a firm tug at his cloak, Xiao Yan turned to leave.

"You call this a fair fight? Release me, and let's go three hundred rounds—" Elder Xuan's slightly trembling voice sounded from within the ice, his pride as battered as his body.

Xiao Yan paused briefly, about to respond, but Yao Lao's voice echoed in his mind, "Boy, Shrek Academy's people are coming fast. I don't have enough spiritual energy for a prolonged battle. We should leave."

"Understood." Xiao Yan nodded, a resolute look in his eyes.

In an instant, a surge of power enveloped him, and a pair of ghostly white wings burst from his back. Without further hesitation, he took off, a streak of white light shooting toward the mountains outside Shrek City.

Not long after Xiao Yan's departure, two figures darted through the sky above the city—Yan Shaozhe and Qian Duoduo. They paused, scanning the area below, eyes widening as they spotted Elder Xuan encased in ice.

"Elder Xuan? What happened to you?" Shaozhe smirked as he approached, barely hiding his amusement at Elder Xuan's bruised and beaten appearance.

"What are you smirking at? Hurry up and get me out of here!" Elder Xuan scowled, his face darkening.

At that moment, the entire sky suddenly filled with a warm, radiant golden light, casting a gentle glow over the area. It felt thick and comforting, blanketing the alleyway. Moments later, an old man with a hunched posture and a cane appeared beside them, his spirit sharp despite his frail figure.

"Elder Xuan, what on earth happened here?" Elder Mu's voice was calm as he placed a hand against the ice encasing Elder Xuan, a surge of golden light melting the icy prison away in seconds.

"Elder Mu…" Free from the ice, Elder Xuan bowed his head in respect, trying to maintain some dignity despite his bruises.

Elder Mu's eyes narrowed, a hint of seriousness crossing his usually calm face. "Extreme ice, mixed with a hintof fire energy… what kind of martial soul is this?"
