Chapter 8: Attending the Beast Weapon Class

The Teacher was named Professor Kars, he was a rather plump man with a round bear belly attuned with a red coloured set of the military's instructor uniform. His hair was dirty blonde and after entering he stated he had the ability to control dust.

Adrian had been but a few moments late and for that was the subject of unwarranted and unearned glares of his peers for his supposed tardiness but the reality was that almost everyone in the class had spotted his watch. Currently, it displayed a large and imposing {1} On its display. Not being able to deactivate them nor change the visibility of your level was possibly Adrian's biggest concern, but as of right now he had other things to worry about.

One of the rude and hypocritical students in the crowd had turned to face Adrian while Professor Kars was busy Introducing himself to the students individually, a form of teaching he insisted upon. The boy looked to be a slightly more masculine and mature than Adrian himself, and the boy also had a {4.3} Displaying on his watch. Adrian saw this and his first most primal reaction was to sigh. He seriously couldn't be arsed with people like this, he could already tell what was coming.

"You, look at me cripple! You are to sit at the back you got it weakling? I hope iv made myself clear." The boy had a wild glint in his eyes that actually unnerved Adrian a little, but after coming to terms with the fact that every bully was basically the same with only minor differences in personalities he no longer seemed to harbour any fear or unease from the 'crackhead' in front of him.

"I will sit where I like, get lost princess." He said nonchalantly while taking a seat directly in front of the teacher. For some reason there were 4 or 5 seats in the front row that hadn't been taken up yet, Adrian decided to take the one in the centre, completely oblivious to the implications of such a move.

"Now class, who can tell me what a beast weapon is forged from. Its most important component." Professor Kars said with a slight gloat in his tone. Though hands did rise, he did not choose any and instead ignored them.

"Do you know young man." He asked in Adrian's direction to which Adrian turned to see if he was addressing the student behind him, but to his shock no, he wasn't. He was addressing him. Adrian shook his head and gave an apologetic look towards the professor.

"Humph, its a Beast Crystal. Every beast has one." He said, a little disappointed that Adrian hadn't known the answer. For some reason he suspected that the boy was holding back, for whatever reason this was, he did not know.

"Next Question, where do Beasts come from, not their origins, but where, if you were to look for them, would you go at a moments notice." He questioned, this time aimed at the whole class while he himself returned to his black board.

As expected he did not allow anyone to answer his question, instead he let the question sink in and began writing on the black board in front of class. Adrian had realised that what he was spelling out was a little confusing, but he managed to follow.

"Planets." He stated simply. Pointing his finger at the board which now had three different planets drawn along with an arrow from each planet leading to a different colour.

Adrian looked dumbfounded while some others shared such an expression. Most though held their breath, feeling that this class was going to rely heavily on theory. These people already knew what was about to be explained, and had a deep dreaded feeling settling in the pit of their stomachs right about now.

"Now I'm sure some of you know what I'm about to say, but in this class you will come to find-" He pivoted towards the students with a smile on his pinked face. "That we strive to unite humanity, even if that means waiting a little longer than planned to help those around us catch up. I hope I'm clear on this yes?" He said, raising a pointed eyebrow, hiding his inner smile.

The room reverberated with nods of affirmation. Professor Kars smiled lightly and continued on.

"To manage the information we receive from the planets we have access to, we put Beasts into categories based on their quality of beast crystal, we can do that because the quality of a beast crystal is always tied to the abilities, strength and potential of the beast it inhabits."

He made a stride towards his black board and began writing out said categories for all to see while reading them out and explaining them for the sake of the students at the back of the class.

"Beasts with a dirty or clouded beast crystals are Basic Rank Beasts. They can range from the passive squid-like beast {Inkpod} to the highly aggressive and hostile wolf like beast {Grim Hounds}.

When the first layer of a beast crystal is clear and radiates a slight warm light then the core belongs to an Intermediate Beast. These creatures are not to be taken lightly, they are considerably stronger than any Basic Tier Beast and for the sake of my point, you will never find a Basic Tier Beast winning in a 'Fight' with an Intermediate Tier Beast, the ranks are entire leagues apart in every single aspect.

The two tiers Iv mentioned thus far are the two kinds of beasts you will be combatting in your first year. Now before I have any obnoxious hands rising into the air I will say this; Your first Expedition to another planet will be held in 4 months from yesterday. You will be travelling to a Green Rank Planet. Here you will find no beast higher than the Intermediate Tier, human shelters are high in number and the factions of the planet do not conflict to the point of war. These planets have been mapped and are essentially as safe as it gets. As safe as our earth is today.

For this Expedition we will be settled into our teams that were established yesterday, these teams can be changed by spending credits in the Academy Store or via request of the entire team. Now, any questions before I end todays class?"

Multiple hands shot up like rockets but before even reaching their maximum extent Professor Kars had already dismissed the class and strode out of the classroom like a trooper.

A warm and welcome smile crept up Adrian's face, his eyes still gazing off into the archway that acts as the exit to the classroom. He really liked this teacher, and he thought that with time he might be able to learn a few tricks from him if he tried to stay in his good graces for his time here at Westcovern Academy.
