Chapter 94

In an instant, Sonja's eyes turned green and hypnotic. She grew lankier, and had black spots riddle her now dead skin. Her hair became greasy and messy, and the sounds of bone crackling made itself apparent to everyone's ears.

Sonja, blinking with both eyes out of sync, looked down at Marilyssa. She looked bewildered. "Sonja... what are you...?"

Sonja delivered a punch to Marilyssa's face, bruising her cheek. Marilyssa looked back at Sonic. "Why... what makes your puny little cartoon lives more important than that of millions more humans?"

Sonic did not say anything. Sonja clenched her fists together. And raised them up over her head. "Because..." Sonic said, loud enough to make sure Marilyssa heard his words. "We are Mobius."

Sonja screamed powerfully, her face in a cascading smile. She then bashed her fists down into Marilyssa's head. Over and over. Until blood splashed and her hands broke Marilyssa's skull. Until Marilyssa died.

Everyone just stared. First at Marilyssa, then at each other. Did they do it? Was it over? Sonja transformed back to normal. The smile disappeared from her face. She looked up at Sonic, raising her hands from the insides of Marilyssa's head. The Chaos Emeralds emerged from Sonja, and fell to the ground around her.

"Sonja..." Sonic spoke. Oh no. Sonja had gone overboard, hadn't she? She just killed someone and expected Sonic to be proud of her. To congratulate her... to--- "You did it! Way to go!" Sonic congratulated. He walked up and reached out his fist, gesturing for a fist bump.

"Wait..." Ramona's voice said, like she had been there the whole time...

"Oh, great..." Sonic asked, turning around and seeing Ramona there. "Like I say... 'can't we ever just win and have that be the end of it?'"

"I'm not here to hurt you..." Ramona said. She had the same stoic expression on her lips and in her eyes. "I'm merely here to congratulate you." Ramona smiled, and started clapping. "Congratulations, Sonic the Hedgehog. You've outran the odds, overcome the odds. And for that..." Ramona put up a Resistance salute, by putting her pointer finger in the air with all her other fingers down. Sonic did the same, waggling his finger side to side. "I salute you."

Sonic turned back to Sonja. He put up his fist for a fist bump again.

"Well, c'mon! You can't just leave me hangin'!" Sonic exclaimed. Sonja took off her blood-covered glove and gave Sonic a fist bump. "Booyah!"

Then, the ground shook. And gave way. The Chaos Emeralds fell into the void below.

"Whoaa!" Sonic and the others screamed. Now what?!

Sonic and the others landed on a loose piece of... Green Hill Zone rock? It tipped as they landed. So they all scrambled for the middle to keep it from flipping. It was just them, on this small body of land, over an endless pit into the depths of time.

"Yahahahahahaha!" A voice laughed. A very Eggman-like-voice. But that wasn't his signature ohoho laugh. This was not Eggman.

"Hey, which hard-boiled egg-looking doofus goes there?" Sonic shouted into the time vortex.

"Why, it is I!" The voice replied. Instantly, something resembling the Time Eater floated up from beneath the land they were standing on. What distinguished it from the Time Eater was its purple and red color scheme. Just like the storm! One of its eyes was black and the other was white. On its forehead was a cockpit with something that looked like the Egg Mobile in it. But the pattern was different, with lines surrounding a Yin and Yang symbol rather than a bluish gray orb. In the Egg Mobile-looking vehicle, sat... the man whose face was on the bottle of deadly toxins that had killed Sonja and Ramona! "Doctor Ivan Kintobor!"

"Kintobor..." Sonic muttered. "Kintobor... that's Robotnik backwards!"

"Yes it is, my Mobian friend," Ivan replied. He drove the Time Eater-like being towards Sonic and his friends. "No idea why that's important, but interesting for a simple mind like yours nonetheless!"

"Okay, Ivan..." Sonic interrogated. He pointed his finger right up against Ivan's nose. "What's your game? Apparently Marilyssa and you had a bit of a business relationship going on!"

"Marilyssa, hmm?" Ivan asked. "Why, yes. You could say that. She was a good business partner, but I'm afraid I have no use for her anymore." Ivan waved his hand dismissively. "She's blindly created everything I need for my conquest across time." Ivan flicked Sonic's finger away from his nose. "The hourglass that travels through time. The Paradox Monitors such as the Time Eater, Second Devourer, and this one! The Infinity Consumer! And the storm to give you a reason to come here and fall right into my trap..."

"What trap?" Sonic asked. He looked all around him. But as he looked back, he saw Ivan had the hourglass stone in his hand. He held it forward, and instantly, Sonic felt himself start to change. Not into Dark Sonic... but something else. He could feel it stronger than ever now, the being that wanted to be let out of his head. It wasn't the Werehog. It wasn't like anything he had transformed into before.

"Turning you all into Primordials!" Ivan laughed.

Sonic felt himself grow in size. He felt his eye merge back into one. He felt his teeth grow sharp. He felt something wriggling around in his stomach. Then, it shot out of his tummy. A vein of some kind... with teeth and a tongue. It looked like a venus flytrap. His tummy leaked blood from the hole the flytrap had left.

Sonic's fur and skin grew darker, as he completed his transformation. He was now a towering monster. He had multiple arms and legs. His eye bulged as blood pulsated through the veins. He looked like some sort of... organic Metal Overlord.

Meanwhile, Tails, Knuckles, Buck, and Pico all felt something changing inside them. Tails changed into his form from inside the vortex. Like Operation Big Wave Phantom Infinite. He roared. Knuckles changed into a very Dark Gaia-like monster. With eyelids of fangs and bone, colors of orange, white and red. He screeched something unholy.

Buck changed into a large skeletal being, with bones in the shape of sharp and lethal weapons for limbs. And Pico changed into a large, stitched up woolly mammoth-like creature. Like a sewn together baby doll. He had four beady eyes.

Every Mobian in the group lost their minds, their intelligence deteriorating to mere animosity, like these humans expected of them. Sonja and Ramona were the only intelligent ones left in the group. The ground cracked from underneath them.

And then, Sonic picked Sonja and Ramona up in one of his many hands. "Yes! My brilliant creations!" Ivan cried. "Quite a shame that they didn't turn into Primordials. Oh well, I guess I'll just be rid of you then!" Ivan shot a beam out of the Yin and Yang symbol on his pod. But Sonic held up his hand to stop it from hitting Sonja and Ramona. "What?!"

Sonic let out a deep rumbling growl, like a dinosaur awaiting its prey. With his hand fried by the beam, he clawed at the Time Eater-like being. "No! Not the Infinity Consumer! What are you doing? YOU OBEY ME!"

Sonic and Ivan burst towards each other, Sonic's mouth open to feast and Ivan's pod charging up a shot. And thus, the final battle commenced.
