Chapter 1

"Hey I dont think this is a good idea." I said.

"Come on it'll be fine. He's waiting hurry up."

I hopped down into the hole and cringed at the muck that stuck to my sneakers. The space was cramped and the air was wet. It smelled like hot dumpster water.

"Remind me why I said I would come with you."

"Because I told you that you had to now quit complaining and let's go."

Vanessa started walking down the tunnel and I reluctantly followed. After a minute or two of walking we can to a slightly more open space. I would have started to feel better if the area wasn't already crowded by people by a second small dumpster fire. Guess I know where SOME of the smell is from.

"Come on he's over here."

She pointed to a corner where a group of people were standing and talking. I followed her over there looking down at my now pretty much black shoes. This is going to take me forever to get the stains out. And the smell might take a year. I looked up as Vanessa started hugging some of the surrounding people.

"Hey Ally come here, I want you to meet someone." I rolled my eyes at Vanessa and looked around for a way out of this conversation. For a moment I saw someone standing by himself leaning against a wall. His hood covered his face as he looked down at the ground. He looked the same way I felt, very out of place. I started to move my feet toward Vanessa when he looked up. For a split second we made eye contact and at that very second I knew.

"Vanessa we need to go. Now."
