With a snarl, Dean threw Mark away. The man tumbled. He landed hard, moaned, rolled over, and shook his head as if to clear it. He clutched his throat, choking, coughing, and gasping.
April rounded on Dean. “You idiot! Are you mad? You shouldn’t have done that.” She met Dean’s gaze, glanced at Jay, adding in a softer voice, “But I’m very glad you did.”
She hardly said enough to mend fences but maybe she made a start, even though Dean ignored her and spoke to Jay.
“He never did the service.”
“He…What?” April sounded stunned.
