For the people

We walk into the city with only a little bit of help from hypnosis. One guard could see through her magic based illusions. The city was too quiet for a port city and there seemed to be no ships in the docks.

"The revolutionary army's leader wanted to keep the empire pure of off continent people. The nobles were so focused on getting richer, that they didn't notice the people's suffering. When those that were oppressed for so long had a leader that promised them what they wanted, they jumped on the chances to get back at their oppressors.", she says with a mixture of emotions in her voice.

"Even the royal family were not exceptions to the nobles. They knew what was going on and did nothing to help. They held the most power in the empire and only had to give a good reason for the people to rally behind them and take down the nobles but didn't. What has the perspective training taught you in these last three months?", I ask. She walks aimlessly and thinks about how it looks from a different perspective.

"They really did have a good reason to revolt, didn't they?", she asks. The disappointment in herself for not realizing it sooner made her slow down in her aimless walking.

When she turned some corners to get back to the main road, she ended up in an ally way that had a group of people at the end facing the street. She made her way towards them and they turned around to reveal their ugly mugs.

"Katrina, these are kidnappers that work for a local gang. If you want to help your people, take care of them and free those that are being held hostage.", I tell her. Her eyes light with a fire as she looks at the people in front of us. I only told her what she needed to know. When she finds the hideout with those they've kidnapped, she will learn about the new government's shady dealings.

She took notice of the people in front and behind her, readied her eye and the fight began. She jumped into a tear that lead in front of the strongest of the group. An old man looking like he fought in a few wars. He was able to react to her sudden appearance and brought up his weapon.

He took his knife and stabbed towards her left rib-cage. The knife was fast, but because of her perspective training his stab was suddenly too far to the right and missed completely. She took this opening and reached her knife-like hand towards his head to cut it off.

The old man pulled back in time to avoid decapitation, but his throat was cut, and he bled heavily. Katrina was still outnumbered so she had to pull out before they surrounded her. She focused on the ally and closed her eyes while stepping backwards. Her action caused her to appear on the other end of the ally, right behind the group that was coming to help the old man.

She swung her arm with it straightened out and cut the group in half. This is as far as she could go with her mental energy. She deactivated her eye and picked up one of the dead people's weapons, a spear that she has the most experience in, and ran at the front group as they started panicking. They were only fairly strong people with weapons but didn't know how to use them. They just knew how to threaten civilians and tie them up in ropes.

She was able to best all but one with skill and almost got caught when the last one pushed his friend towards her as a distraction. She could have gotten cut in the side, but he hit my tail and the sword only cut her dress. Katrina finished him off with a spear to the neck and leaned against the wall to catch her breath.

"That was tough. I didn't think this is what it's like to kill someone.", she says. After the adrenaline cleared out, she was breathing heavily and could barely stand up with the help of her spear.

"You did good for your first real fight. The fight with summoned creatures can only take you so far, so this experience will help fill in the gaps. You should rest so you can take care of this gang when you're prepared.", she got up and walked out into the street asking for directions.

"I may not be able to fix my mistakes from before, but I won't repeat them again. I will fight, because I owe it to myself.", she says with determination.

"Then you'll find the group's hideout in the last building on the left after you turn this corner.", I tell her, and she marches off to free her people.
