"Let's try again..."
Twisting the tube ever so slightly, the subtle change in the tube's angle would hopefully cause it to slide in the right direction as I gently pushed it forward. After a few seconds, I felt another form of subtle resistance, but one that easily passed as I took a chance and pushed forward.
"Nothing bad so far," I muttered to myself as I took a whiff and a listen on the other side of the tube. "Not hearing anything resembling breathing..."
With a reluctant nod, I pushed on, hoping that I had gotten past the hard part and was already at a straight shot to my sister's stomach. I'd feel it in the tube if that was the case though, so the moment I felt- there! The subtle rhythmic vibrations of the tube alerted me to the fact that the tube was deep enough in her esophagus that it was now right behind her heart.
