Chapter 31

After getting our keys and heading up to our rooms, Micah and I work on unloading all of our stuff. It takes a good hour or so but eventually we are able to sit back and enjoy the view of the snowy slopes down below.

Our room is decently spacious. Upon entering the room there are two doors, one immediately on the right and one immediately on the left. Those are the bathroom and tiny kitchen area. Once you make it through the entryway the room opens up quite a bit. The wall opposite the front door is entirely made up of windows, hence the cool ski slope view.

On one side of the room, there are two queen-sized beds, one for Micah and one for me. Between our beds are two dressers, each with a power strip and lamp resting on top. Across from our beds are the TV and couch. There are two doors on either side of the TV that have deadbolts on them. Micah and I get up to check them out.

I knock on one door and Micah knocks on the other. After about a minute, we receive two knocks from the other side in response. We both look at each other and shrug, undoing the deadbolts and slowly opening the doors. We are greeted by two familiar faces, Joe and Foster. This must be what Mr. Rennet meant.

"Howdy ladies," Foster crosses the threshold between rooms to investigate our 'bachelorette pad' as he so lovingly called it. Joe follows directly behind him, poking his head into different doors and attempting to open dresser drawers before being swatted at by Micah.

"Seriously, can we not get a little privacy in here?" Micah shouts at her guy.

"What? it's not like I haven't seen it before," he states. Micah's face burns a bright red. Joe chuckles and pulls her into a hug. "Sorry to out you like that babe. You know I didn't mean it."

"Don't worry Micah, if it makes you feel any better," Foster eyes me up and down before continuing, "I've seen everything before too. If you are interested, we can swap roommates?" This time I'm the one who turns a few shades pinker in response.

Micah pushes away from Joe, stomping over to Foster, "No way lover boy. She is mine for the week. I am not letting you steal her away from me," Micah squeezes me tightly, attempting to bother Foster. He just shoots a sly smile her way.

"I won't steal her away, so long as you let me watch," he jokes. Micah glares at him.

"You perv. That's not what I meant."

"Either way, as long as you are willing to share, I am sure we can come to an agreeable compromise before the night is over," he attempts to bargain with her.

Not wanting to be in the middle of the brawl that might start, I slip away from Micah's grasp and flop into my bed, hiding under the covers. Foster always knows just how to press my buttons. He's lucky he's so darn cute otherwise I would be so much angrier. I feel the bed shift next to me and a familiar heavy pat on my back.

"Are you going to quit hiding or what? I'm starving and if you don't go get your boyfriend in the next few minutes, you might not have one." Joe chuckles and then gets up from the bed slowly approaching to make an attempt to appease the two bickering teens with promises of sustenance.

I take a deep breath, pulling the covers off of me and sitting up. My hair flies around in a bunch of directions, some of it sticking straight up from the static friction of pulling my covers off my head so aggressively. I try to pat it down but give up and eventually accept my fate. Seeing my disheveled appearance and sour expression, Micah sits down on the bed next to me and begins braiding my hair, trying to trap some of the wild tresses.

"So food? Should we head back down to the lobby and see what we are supposed to do next? I know Mr. Rennet mentioned that we should spend some time getting comfortable in our new arrangements, but I'm starving." Joe brings his hands up to his face and pretends to look pained, "I can feel my blood sugar dropping to near deadly levels. If I don't get some type of food in me soon, I might just-" He fake faints onto the couch in front of the TV, earning a few giggles from Micah and me. Charming.

"I mean, is he even going to be downstairs? Do we know what room he is supposed to be in? I know he is probably assigned to our floor because he is our chaperone for this trip but did he give us a room number or anything?" Micah sighs, also in need of some refreshments.

"We could just start knocking on all of the doors on this floor and eventually he will be behind one of them right?" Foster offers.

"Wait, didn't he say something about how our walls aren't thick? He seemed a bit annoyed with our room assignments. Does that mean he is in 201? Was he irritated that he might not get any sleep or something?" Joe pipes up.

"That would make sense. I still think he should have kept his comment to himself. It's weird to know that our teacher is aware of some of the shit we do." I grumble.

Foster pulls me to him so that my back is pressed up against his chest. "He was a teenager once too C. You can't blame the guy for being salty that he might have to hear a bunch of hornball kids late into the night." With that, I can feel Foster pressing his groin further into my backside. He folds his arms around my waist.

"There's only one way to find out," Micah marches towards our front door, I assume in order to go find out who our other next-door neighbor is. The remaining three of us shuffle out behind her, also interested in uncovering this 'mystery.'

Knock Knock. We can hear some shuffling from behind the door. Eventually, it swings open, revealing a slightly irritated chaperone. As soon as he sees us, his features soften.

"What can I do for you guys?" He inquires, dragging a hand up over his stressed facial features and through his fluffy blonde hair.

"Hi, Mr. Rennet. I don't know if you were aware, but we are your neighbors." Micah states, gesturing to herself and me.

"Oh, I am fully aware. I am the one with the list. I know who your other neighbors are as well." Foster chuckles at his response.

"Don't be so down teach, we are going to have a great week together," Foster gives me a squeeze, still wrapped around my body.

Mr. Rennet clears his throat, "So did you guys need something from me, or were you just coming over here to bother me?"

"Bother you?" Foster scoffs. "Us bother you?" I elbow him to lay off the poor exhausted teacher. He clearly isn't being paid enough to deal with all of us.

"We were just wondering what the plan for the rest of today was? Considering there is so much day left. We are also getting kinda hungry," Joe chimes in, giving his belly a pat. Mr. Rennet just shakes his head at the younger guy.

"Today is pretty much a free day. There will be a hot cocoa social down in the lobby this evening otherwise, you are free to check out the rest of the lodge. In terms of food, I believe the dining room on the first floor is open for lunch right now. You could head down there and check that out yourself. You could also check out the rec room and some of the other stuff?" The four of us nod and leave the slightly older gentleman alone, heading for the elevators.

"What do you think we'll find in the rec room?" Foster questions. We make it to the elevators and step inside as soon as the doors open. Joe presses the button for the first floor. Thankfully we are in for a super short trip as we are just one floor above the main lobby. We really lucked out on that one because it means using the stairs will also be super quick.

The elevatory doors fly open with a ding, signaling our arrival on the first floor. We file out of the small mobile room. Once out, Joe leads the charge towards the dining room. A few other students are lingering in the area, probably with similar goals in mind. We grab some plates and dish out some of the food from the serving trays. Once we are all satisfied with our choices, we grab a table nearby to sit and chitchat while we eat.
