Chapter 16: Chie Baba.

Wakanamiya players are getting nervous and getting a cold feet, they want to play but for some reason, they can't play the way that they wanted and it became obvious when the game started.

Shohoku gets the first possession and Miyagi pass the ball to Rukawa at the right wing, Rukawa attacks the defense of the 3rd year Dai Jozu, Rukawa easily passes his defense and scores a easy right hand layup.

WAKANAMIYA: 0

1st Half 19:36

Chie bringing the ball down, surveying the court, he gets a screen from Junji Watoshi their center, Chie attacks the left, Chie dribble through his right leg, Daichi closes the path on him, Chie spins to his left and blew past Daichi.

[DAICHI: What?!.]

Chie hops to the middle and shoots an close mid range shot, Sakuragi jumps to block the shot but Chie shots it high up to avoid the block attempt of Sakuragi. Chie makes it.

1st Half 19:20

[MIYAGI: Man, this is going to be tough.]

Miyagi said after looking at the towering figure of Chie Baba.

Miyagi brings the ball down and he pass it to the left wing to Shota, Shota dribble the ball and he pass it to the post to Daichi. Daichi being defended by Junji, Daichi starts to back down Junji. Daichi spins to the left and overpowers Junji, Junji jumps a little backwards and Daichi pump fakes. Junji jumps to block the shot but Daichi jumps a little bit late and he gets by Junji in the arm. Daichi shots the ball but misses it.

Daichi then proceed to make the two free throws.

WAKANAMIYA: 2

1st Half 18:47

Chie dribbling the ball, he pass it to the right wing to Dai, Dai pass it inside to Ayumu. Ayumu starts to dribble the ball, he posting up Sakuragi, then starts to back him down into the paint. Ayumu then spins to the right, Ayumu then shoots a semi-fade away jumper and makes it.

WAKANAMIYA: 4

1st Half 18:30

[SAKURAGI: Damn!.]

Miyagi brings the ball down and Sakuragi was begging for the ball, Miyagi ignored him and pass the ball to the left wing, Shota gets it. And he dribble it to the middle and pass it to Rukawa who cuts to the middle.

Rukawa gets the ball and he was being guarded by Dai Jozu, Rukawa attacks the defense of Jozu and when Junji went to cover for Jozu, Rukawa bounce pass the ball to Daichi. Daichi gets it and dunks the ball with two hands.

WAKANAMIYA: 4

1st Half 18:14

Chie bringing the ball back to their court, Chie suddenly accelerated and drove to the basket and finished it with left handed layup. After that possession, Chie continues to attack the early defense of Shohoku and when Shohoku figure it out, Chie then goes to post up Miyagi.

He continued to gets basket after basket for Wakanamiya and Chie already has a 18 points in the game and almost out scores Shohoku all on his own.

Miyagi bringing the ball down, Chie puts a pressure on Miyagi. Miyagi struggles to keep the ball on his hands but finally Miyagi gets out of the pinch and Miyagi passes the ball to Shota in the left wing.

Shota catches it and shoots a three pointer, Chie gets back on defense and blocks the shot of Shota.

[MIYAGI: What a guy.]

Chie is doing everything he could to win the game for Wakanamiya and his teammates are also noticing his efforts, so they've got to work harder to win the game against one of the best teams in prefecture.

They've began to play harder in defensive end and they make Shohoku comment a turnover, Chie gets the ball and he bring it down to their court.

Chie gets a screen from Junji, he attacked the right side and split the defense of Miyagi and Daichi. Sakuragi comes up to defend Chie, Chie spins to the right and he scores with a right handed layup.

WAKANAMIYA: 31

1st Half 11:19

Shohoku gets back on offense and scores with a three pointer from Rukawa, then Chie gets back on offense and he gets a assists for Ayumu's two handed dunk.

1st Half 10:42

Chie continue to put pressure on Miyagi, and since he was much taller much stronger than Miyagi. It was pretty easy for Chie to make Miyagi pass the ball early in the possession of Shohoku.

[MIYAGI: Is there really any reason for you to play this hard, Chie?.]

Both Chie and Miyagi played against each other at junior high school and Chie always lose to Miyagi because Miyagi's team were always much better than Chie's, and for Chie to get this opportunity to win against Miyagi, he will not let this chance to go waste.

[CHIE: I'm sure you'll understand, Miyagi.]

As for Miyagi, he always thinks Chie is annoying because of his height and strength, Miyagi finds it annoying when Chie uses his height to make play.

[MIYAGI: This is going to be a long day….]
