Wicked Ways Part 2!

"Ahah, what? No, of course, not mom!" Trying to laugh off her mother's questioning, Chang laughed awkwardly. Betraying her, the sound came out high-pitched exposing her lies.

"Are you sure?" Raising an eyebrow at her daughter, Chang felt like her mother already knew everything just with one look. Chang had never been any good at lying. Her nerves always got the best of her and she would be unable to hold her composure. At the moment Chang was doing her utmost, trying harder than she ever had before.

Trying to keep a saleswoman smile on her face Chang denied it again, but more gracefully the second time. Reaching forward, Chang grabbed the glass of water seated on the tray before her. As she took a sip of the water, parching her dry mouth, her mother asked a question she could never have prepared for.

"Soo was it about sex then? Did you two have a shotgun wedding?"

Eyes bulging, Chang choked and sputtered on the water she had been sipping on.

'What kind of a fucking question was that mom!!?' Unable to answer Chang stared at her mother in horrified shock. Hearing her choking, Jian came over and kneeled beside her chair, gently patting her back looking thoroughly amused. After about a minute she was able to regain her breath, crying out, Chang gave her mother an embarrassed glare.

"No mom! Not at all, how could you ask that?"

"What are you ladies discussing?" Jian asked innocently, despite obviously knowing, judging by the wicked gleam in his eye.

"I was only asking her about her marriage, ahh, but she's so bashful just about this topic that I fear I will never see grandchildren!" Li Hua complained to Jian. Looking from the corner of her eye, she saw Chang sitting rigidly, digging her nails into her palm. Seeing her reaction, Li Hua decided to have a little mercy on her daughter who she knew was quickly reaching her boiling point.

"Jian why don't you tell me about it, what made you propose to my daughter out of the blue like that?" While she already knew the story he had given her she wanted her daughter to hear his words. Given the short period they had only been together, she may not have heard them before.

"The two of us met last summer on the eve of my 25th birthday. My father and I had reached an impasse of sorts. To fullfill an agreement between the two of us, he was insistent that I be married that evening." Jian's warm voice reverberated in Chang's ears as he spoke. Still tensed Chang wondered if he was about to expose her in front of her mother anyways. "To further his ends he had set me up with several various women that he considered suitable. By the end of the night he expected me to leave with one of them as my Mrs. Liang." Smiling wryly at Chang, she turned her head away still feeling a little sour about that. He had told her about that before when they lived together. It still did not mean that the facts did not bother her, especially when she heard the word 'suitable.'

"While sitting, stuck in my dilemna, I heard a voice. It enchanted me, and pulled me to come find the source." Realizing what he was talking about, Chang tucked her chin in not wanting him to see her expression. "I soon found the source, nearby attending a business celebration. Like a lily among the weeds she stuck out to me, shining in the muck. As she sang her heart out, unwittingly it felt like I had lost mine." In his memories, the light had shown down on her, illuminating a glow around her as her hair hung loose and unruly. She sang so fervently her brows had creased, desperately calling for someone. Her unbridled passion and spark had attracted him like a moth to a flame, and like the moth he still felt the pull.

Hearing his words Chang burned an even deeper shade than she had before. 'How can a dignified grown man say that!' Feeling him take her hand gently in his large one after saying such things gave her an uncomfortable warm feeling inside.

Hao Jin Ying on the sidelines burned as well, how could her boss be saying such things, she truly had no idea who this person was anymore! She did not want to know any more either.

"Ah that is so sweet! You hear that?" Nudging her daughter, Li Hua exclaimed brightly.

'How could I not have, he's right next to me!' Chang yelled internally. His words were hitting her right in the center of her chest breaking down her reservations.

"Ah so then what happened?" Looking past her daughter, LiHua continued to question him curiously, as if it was the first time of hearing it.

"Well, I waited until she left the group and then I approached her. While watching her, I rehearsed this whole speech in my head, I knew I had to try asking her at least. Little would I have guessed that she would agree so passionately!" Showing a wicked grin to her, Chang felt trapped, like she was hanging on the edge of a crumbling precipice.

'Ah god is he gonna tell her about all that too! And hey wait a minute I don't remember going so easily!' Chang knew there would be no avoiding this topic, her mother was like a dog with a bone in its mouth. Until she was fully satiated, she would not let go for anything.

"Passionately? Oh tell me more." Li Hua's eyes shined, this was new news for her.

"Oh yes, very much so. She agreed to leave with me, on the spot without any questions.I can only guess that I was too charming for my own good! After agreeing, she brought me to her assosciates and told them she was quitting. Then she kissed me in front of everyone, after announcing it like that."

Slapping her hand over her face, Chang groaned. She had done that, but she still had not intended to share that moment with another. After announcing to her boss that she was retiring for the married life, she had grabbed him by his lapels and given him a big kiss, surprising him. Jian and her had joked about it once or twice in private, and she never thought that he would tell her mother. Those two were cut from the same wicked cloth, always bullying her.

Li Hua, herself felt a small tinge of heat come to her cheeks after hearing how forward her daughter had been. "Well, oh my. That is surprising, I had no idea she took after her father so much. I shall look forward to what the future holds for you two." Clearing her throat, Li Hua decided to let the topic drop. Li Hua reached forward and patted her daughter's hand that wasn't on her face, trying to pacify her. She wanted to do whatever she could for these two, they would need each other especially in the days to come.
