Vince wipes his tears and sits up, getting away from the other’s touch. The memories from that night, from just before he passed out, rushing back to him like violent waves.
Jack follows him, sitting up and looking at him.
“You know, Jackie… I was so scared on that night.” Vince says for the first time out loud.
Jack stares at him. He wasn’t expecting him to say anything about it, at all. He just needed to let it out his chest. But Vince seems to want to talk about it now and he knows he needs to hear it.
“Before I passed out.” Vince continues, “I never had it that bad before. My lungs were hurting and my throat was burning. I thought I was dying. My mom was crying and holding me in her arms and I couldn’t tell her anything, even if all I wanted to say at that time was goodbye, and tell her how much I loved her, cause I thought it would be my last chance.”
