Chapter 56

She brushed his hair back like a mother would a child and in that moment, I could tell she truly did love her sons, it looked innocent like a doting mother would do. It suddenly made me wish my mother were still here. I felt saddened by the fact my mother would never again look at me the way Caroline gazed at Theo. But it did no good, he didn t even bat an eyelid.

I heard her sigh. "This is one of the things I hate about being a vampire, the rest is okay but once we become stuck like this, it s always hard to come out of it. Consumed by one s thoughts can sometimes be the worst sort of torture" I heard her murmur. Her thumb brushing his cheek soothingly.

"May I ask how you became like this?" It was something that I had wondered because Theo didn t like talking of it.

"Did Theo tell you he was a twin?" she asked. I shook my head this was the first time I have heard any mention of it. She nodded understandingly.
