Army Doctor

After much deliberation, Sherlock decided to skip meeting Irene. She wasn't the Irene he knew of, and regarding the future she knew, if it was important Mycroft would inform him. He decided to focus his attention on Moriarty.

The Professor had yet to shed his public identity so it was quite easy to track him down. So, Sherlock was currently sitting in a class full of college students, looking at the 35-36 year old looking sleek man going on about the differential geometry or something.

************

Moriarty was feeling rather stuffy today. The air felt heavy and nothing seemed to feel right. Chocking it all up to be the fault of a bad day, he entered his lecture hall and continued his lecture just like every day. It was all fine until his eyes locked on the face of a certain student.

No, he wasn't a student, Moriarty knew the faces of every student in his class. And that was not the face of his student. But he knew who it was. He was an up-and-coming private consultant who had solved some high-profile cases.

'Why is he here? I don't think anything I have done should've attracted his attention yet. I've only started setting up the organization and I've been careful all the way until now. Did some thug leak something?'

While there were many thoughts and considerations going through his mind, Moriarty still continued the class till the end. And when every student had left, there were only two individuals remaining in the hall.

"That was quite the lecture professor Moriarty." Holmes began the conversation. "You really are an intellect above the masses."

"I don't deserve such high praise from the genius detective who is the talk of the town and a regular in front-page news." Moriarty quipped back.

"Then there is no need for small talk between smart people. I'm here to ask you to join my organization, Mr. Moriarty. It's similar to what you're trying right now but so much more."

He knows! Moriarty's wariness shot through the roof as he got in position to use his prepared escape route at a moment's notice. "And what organization would you be talking about Mr. Holmes?" He had to look calm on the surface at least.

"A trap door under the teacher's platform? Ingenious I must say, but maybe use something to mask the difference in sound when you step over it?" Sherlock joked.

Moriarty kept his silence but his back was starting to get drenched in a cold sweat. He might have to risk going through plan B. But as he was calculating, Holmes continued to speak.

"As for what the organization will be, that I'm not sure of, only that it will be legal and much grander on a global scale than what you had planned. The rest of it, we have to discuss."

Moriarty calculated in his mind and asked the most crucial question, "If it's like that, why should I join you instead of doing my own thing?"

To this Sherlock just smiled and said, "Because if you don't, the secret service will dismantle you and your budding crew and put you on their watch list. And believe me, when I say this, those bastards are annoying."

"Let's hear the details then." Moriarty sighed thinking that although he lost this round he will find a way to use the resources from Sherlock to create the organization and get rid of him later.

Sherlock walked down the steps towards the lecture platform while speaking in a soft voice, "I know you hold no loyalty to me or anyone. And I respect you enough to not ask you to work for me but WITH me. For you to know what this organization will be, you need to understand this world a little better."

As Sherlock's voice was softly reaching him, Moriarty could feel something change in the air around him. It suddenly felt much denser, as if the air was slowly clutching onto him. That feeling only kept growing until he started floating!

"There exists a whole hidden side to this world. With people with different powers, abilities, different species, and things you'd think came straight out of a crazy writer's head. It's a dangerous world out there Moriarty, and I want to build an organization to stay ahead of the dangers with enough power, wealth, and information." Sherlock concluded as he let go of the telekinesis on Moriarty.

Sherlock knew that Moriarty would never really work for himself, he knew Moriarty too well for that. So he decided to decide to use another method, using the fear of the unknown.

This little display of power was enough to show Moriarty that he knew too little of the world. He would now have to think of ways to deal with such unknowns and the logical conclusion is what Sherlock had already proposed.

Sure, there were other methods, but what would an ordinary man do when faced with powers he couldn't even understand. He had to work with Sherlock. And anyway, Sherlock had shown that he could've just as easily forced him into submission. So Moriarty relented.

With his face still pale with horror, Moriarty asked, "Let's discuss the details then."

***************

After a lengthy discussion that started in the lecture hall and led into Sherlock's apartment, Moriarty was briefed on the wonders of the world he had never even imagined would be real from magic to supernatural beings.

Sherlock didn't hide anything as it would be detrimental to the growth of the organization and Moriarty would eventually find it all out himself anyway. And thus the two masterminds created a framework in which Moriarty would start working.

First, it was decided that Moriarty would now start working as Sherlock's partner in detective work as it was the easiest and most effective way to make connections in high-society of Europe. Doing favors to nobility and the influential would only be profitable.

As for Griffon Company, the organization, whose name had been debated for a few hours between the two intellects until Mrs. Hudson settled the name, it was decided that it would be a trading company. As for what they would trade? Everything.

With the two of the greatest minds in the current world, it wasn't that hard to see the business trends, especially when one of them had already lived the future of the next 20 years. So, they decided to create a trading company that would ship resources from different countries.

Financing would be done with a generous loan from the British Empire, under the condition that some of the information channels be provided to the secret service as discussed with Mycroft.

Sherlock had already thought of funding Griffon Company by himself with his knowledge of the future. But even to do that, they needed the starting capital to buy the gold, silver, diamond mines, and other investments they wanted to make. So they had to take the loan. And Sherlock would rather trust Mycroft than anyone else.

As for the employees and agents of the company, only the top levels needed to be trusted and trained individuals. The lower levels could just as easily be filled with the commoners.

They would also train a private force in the name of security for the company. But the main objective of this force would be to train fighters and also recruit people with abilities like the mutants.

"I am not as good as you in regards to organizing so it's best you handle the operations of the company. As for the public face of the company, it's best both of us are associated as little as possible so we should find someone to be a public face." Sherlock quickly shirked responsibility.

Moriarty knew Sherlock just wanted to put everything on him but he didn't care. At this point, he was getting excited about doing something this grand. "Do you have anyone trustworthy in mind?"

Sherlock looked into the distance as he smiled with a longing face. "Yeah, find a British army doctor by the name of John Watson. He should have served for a couple of years now."

The story will have a few time skips now and hopefull the pace will increase. Please comment your views on the story so far.
