"Orion Anastasia Serrais Brimmed I am so mad at you" and there she was in all her glory. My best friends Sera. She was slender and graceful, everything I'm not. Her hair black as ebony. Her eyes a stormy gray. My best friend was beautiful. Stomping all the way to me I stiffen waiting for the punch. But instead she just wraps her arms around me "I can't believe you haven't told me you're getting married!" She cried hugging me "I had to hear it second hand from the kitchen staff" she yelled in my ear. "And then you go and get yourself marked" pulling her self away holding me at arms length looking me up and down, "Marcy let you wear that to dinner?" She asked with a disgruntled look.
Rolling my eyes "actually I picked it out myself, it's been a long day and the cotton feels nice so thhhhhmmmmm" I say sticking out my tongue.
And then she punches me "and i definitely wasn't told your betrothed match was this hot." Stepping back I watch her practically undress him in front me. "I'll cut out your eyes if you don't put them back." Growling at her to my own surprise.
"Oopp sorry didn't mean to ogle your beau bestie" she apologized completely unphased by my response "come sit next to me I am dying to hear about everything!" Dragging me away I just look at Theo and shrug my shoulders leaving him to find his own seat with his companions.
"Riri oh my gods he is soo hot you are so lucky"
"Yeah Sera having the freedom to choose my own future taken from me makes me really lucky" I put my elbow on the table and my chin in my hand and sigh.
"Elbows off the table Orion" my mother yelled
How does she do that? She's so invested in her conversation and didn't even look over to catch me.
Dinner was nice. Normal all things considered. Everyone just ignored the elephant in the room and saved that conversation for tomorrow.
After finishing dinner Sera hugs me and says "I have classes all day tomorrow, the season of the hunt begins soon, and unlike you I haven't been marked," she continued "so with you gone, that leaves me a lot more prospects and how does my mother say it? Oh 'an educated lady lives a fulling life' or something like that" Sera mocking her mother using a proper accent. "Goodnight darling" she says keeping up the accent. We kiss cheek to cheek and then she departs.
Theo says "I still have some things to talk about with my companions, I'll introduce you formally tomorrow." Kissing me on my forehead "goodnight little bunny"
"I'll walk you to your room" my mother says as she wraps her arm in mine and leads me out of the dining hall and up the stairs to my room.
Stopping at my door she says "My darling baby, the last two days have been very rough and you've experienced many changes and faced many firsts." She paused brushing my hair from my face. "Your hair has always been a mess, just like you, can't be tamed" I see moisture in her eyes she smiles "we have much to discuss come tomorrow, so get some rest tonight. I love you my dearest" embracing me and kissing my forehead she leaves me at my door.
I go inside my room and change into a long comfy baggy white nightgown and crawl into bed. I closed my eyes and in seconds sleep found me.
