Bang

As I left to meet up with Chris, I surprised myself by taking Father Gabriel's number. I couldn't explain why; maybe his "faith" speeches were getting to my head. I joined one of the cops in the car, and we began discussing the events that led to the crime scene they arrived at.

Officer Uriel, a no-nonsense man with a stern expression, turned to me and asked, "So, Daniel, can you tell me what happened? Why did Mrs. Davis try to kill you?"

I hesitated, unsure how much to reveal. "Honestly, I have no idea. I didn't even know she had a grudge against me."

Uriel raised an eyebrow. "And what about the detainees? How did she manage to control them like that?"

I shrugged, feigning ignorance. "I have no clue. Maybe she had some kind of power over them?"

Uriel's eyes narrowed, and I sensed he was interrogating me for clues. I wasn't buying my own story, and I could tell he didn't either.

We finally arrived at my mansion, and as I got out of the car, Uriel called out, "Hey, Daniel, take my number. If you think of anything concerning the case, contact me."

I waved goodbye as he drove away, feeling a shiver run down my spine. There was something unsettling about Officer Uriel - his intimidating aura, his sudden promotion to Chief Officer. I couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off.

My trust issues kicked in, and I did a background check on him. What I found raised more questions than answers. Uriel had been declared brain dead a day before, only to miraculously wake up fully recovered. And wasn't it strange that he was found floating in the ocean, lifeless, only to come back to life? I pushed the thoughts aside, focusing on my chaotic situation. I didn't have time to add the drama of a new work buddy to my plate.

As I walked towards my mansion, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. The events of the day replayed in my mind like a bad movie. I thought about Chris, hoping he was safe, and Mrs. Deli, wondering if she was still alive. The image of her saving Chris from the car crash lingered in my mind, her supernatural strength and agility leaving me with more questions than answers.

I entered my mansion, greeted by the familiar sight of my butler, Jenkins. "Sir, it's good to see you're safe," he said, his expression concerned.

I nodded, feeling a mix of emotions. "Jenkins, has Chris arrived.

"Yes,I have you even served him some of my best cuisines",he replied .

As I entered the house, I found Chris hunched over his computer, his eyes fixed on the screen with an intensity that made me curious. When he looked up, I expected a witty remark, but his grave expression caught me off guard. "Daniel, you gotta see this," he said, his voice laced with concern.

I rushed to his side, and what I saw left me stunned. On the screen was footage of Mrs. Deli calmly following the truck driver who had almost killed them. Chris's shock was palpable. "What the hell is wrong with her? It's like she didn't care that he almost killed us."

I added, "It's almost like they don't care if they die. It's almost like they're not human." Chris raised an eyebrow, and I began revealing my working theory, based on Father Gabriel's assumption. "I think Mrs. Deli is a demon, and the car crash was just a well-orchestrated plan to escape our grasp."

Chris listened in disbelief, his expression incredulous. "Are you even hearing yourself call your former babysitter a demon?" I nodded solemnly, hating how ridiculous but real the theory of my life was.

Chris got up to grab a cup of coffee, leaving me to wonder how he would react when I informed him about what happened with Mrs. Davis. He had always had a crush on her, and I imagined how sad he would be once I told him his one and only crush had blown her own brains out.

When he returned, I wasted no time spilling the bad news. He dropped the cup of coffee in his hands, and as the ceramic cup smashed to bits on the ground, it was probably nothing compared to how broken and shattered Chris's heart felt at that moment. He fell onto his seat, silent, his face showing signs of an impending outcry.

Chris got up and told me he needed some fresh air. I nodded, knowing that no matter how kind my words, they wouldn't comfort him. I had known Chris for a long time, and I had never once seen him sad or in tears. I guessed that Chris, like any normal grieving man, didn't want anyone around him to see him in heartbreaking pain.

I sighed as I fought the urge to follow him and give him a big brother hug. My empathy turned into rage as I wished I could get my hands on the mastermind of this calamity, Samson, the man I suspected was my dad. The only question that came to mind when I thought of him being my biological dad was, "Why would mom fall in love with a man like him?"

The mansion's opulent decorations and lavish furnishings seemed to fade into the background as the weight of our situation settled in. The air was thick with tension, and I knew that our lives would never be the same again.
