His eyes paired with every flickering light that lit up the sky in red. The cold, blood-colored flame descended upon them with a pressure so intense it was blinding.
It was the flames from the mighty dragon, the beast that had tortured his dreams and so the dreams of everyone in his village for years now.
As the fire beam struck the ground forcefully and consumed hundreds of villagers and multiple houses, the blast's wind sent shivers down his spine.
He was too far away to be using his one working eye to witness such terrible sights.
He was so hurt that he was powerless to stop this particular dragon from unleashing hell on the village.
What a huge letdown he was.
Hex lifted his hand to his severely burned and disfigured face. His left eye was gouged out of its sockets, gushing blood, reminding him why he was so useless.
He was scared of losing a body part or two because this was his last fight; all he wanted to do was run away, hide, curl up, and die like the coward he was. Was that too much to ask for?
Hex brushed off the grey hair from his face, he still asked himself why he cared so much about the lives of those people who died every passing moment of his eyes.
They were the reason why he became a Cursed Slayer, but why couldn't he move to save them now? remained a puzzle to him.
Bufffggh! Huffk!
"Kuueeiik!"
"Help me!"
"Guhhk!"
Hex merely watched as the victims were burned and trampled, trembling at the prospect of becoming the next victim.
Just as he perceived, he had lost all his humanity and become a devil. "Boy, run as fast as your damned legs can go," cried his instinct.
Whenever he attempted to flee, an entity would react to his actions by commanding him to "stand and fight!"
For what reason, in those fleeting seconds, should he stand and battle a beast of flames that could flatten men stronger than he was? He was no crazy goat; he was just a chicken.
Hex turned his head back to make his point more clearly, and he was correct.
The dragon had demonstrated his dominance by slaying thousands of Cursed slayers in front of his eyes.
'It Killed them all, everyone is dead but me, how did such a weakling like me amount to this? I am just a mere nuisance that keeps on escaping through pitiable luck.'
"Hex!" A cry went up in the distance, one that he had not yet forgotten.
From the valley of corpses, one man emerged, missing a hand and with most of his blood gone due to his incomplete body.
Hex said, fidgetingly, "You are still alive," looking at the other distraught man. "Captain!"
The individual, identified as Hex's captain, turned away from him and directed his attention to the dragon.
Despite his limited time, he expressed gratitude to God for giving him this opportunity to speak.
"Hex, I guess this is goodbye," his captain spoke from his dying breath.
"Cap!" Hex was frozen to the spot where he stood in terror as he suddenly broke down in tears.
How on earth could he be the lone survivor left to take on the ferocious dragon? "Please Cap! Hold on! Y.... Y.... You can still fight!"
Hex used his eyes to scour the area for any weapon that would help them stand a chance against the dragon, but he found nothing.
"You can still defeat the Dragon, Captain!" Hex's screams became louder as he remembered his captain's injuries.
Just when the dragon spat down a ball of fire at them, Hex's captain tossed him out of the way saving him at the last moment and getting bashed by the walls of flames.
"Captain you can.... We can... We can still win!"
"I am really sorry Hex, you will have to carry the tears of all that has been lost," his captain said with a disapproving shake of his head. You will have to fight alone."
With that, the Captain collapsed face-first to the ground. He was dead.
"Shit! Shit! Why am I alone here? I am damned!" Hex fell to his knees whimpering and crying already sure of his coming end.
With no other options left Hex began to forward his life's regrets. "Mum I am sorry, Dad, Anji I will be coming soon, Elsa... I won't be able to keep any of my promises....."
Booooom!
Hex heard the heavy footsteps behind him and instinctively held his breath.
His heart started to pound hard on his chest and his bladder was being pressed hard by pee.
Even his brain gave him a resounding signal he interpreted as 'You are fucked!'
This was it, wasn't it, 'I am going to die this second!'
Hex quickly looked over his shoulder.
"Arrrrrrgggggh!!!" He shrieked like a girl after his eyes gazed into the monstrous fang-filled mouth of the towering dragon plunging at him.
Bussshhhk!
Snaaaappppp!
The dragon's teeth penetrated his small, miserable neck, growing longer until it tore his head off his body and released a torrent of blood.
The remnants of his body collapsed to the earth. As was to be expected of Hex, his captain gave him the order to win, and he passed away, writhing pitifully on his knees.
When he arrives at the gates of the afterlife this was a gist to be trending there.
'How I died a death of an extreme coward.'

{User has awoken once again}
'Hugh, what is this awoken? I just died how is this even possible?'
His eyes adjusted to take in the amazing sight of a sizable mortuary that was obviously filled to capacity with bodies.
The question that roamed his mind was, why was he not with the dead on the ground?
'Did I survive?'
Hex raised his hands to his head, surely it wasn't possible to survive something like that. Having your head torn off by a dragon.
'So what is happening, I am not dead but alive, so why am I in a place of the dead?'
"Could it be?" Hex raised his palms to his view to study them. To his anticipation, they were little and seamlessly young.
Hex's purple eyes glowed in the light of day as he just made a discovery deserving a eureka.
"Could it be I have been reincarnated in my past self?"
