Shadow Assassin (Dual Attributes)

It is a hard living in the new age of the modern world, on Earth. Especially if you did not have any Abilities; it was the case for Quinn. His parents were ambassadors, and secretly, Assassins working for the 'greater good'. Wars were quite a frequent occurance on Earth, leaving only ravaged remains of the once beautiful planet. Although, the once frequent wars had stopped and the world finally entered a fleeting age of peace, the larger powers were in a deadlock and in high geopolitical tension. The majority of the interstellar planets and bases were owned by Capitalist powerhouses that held only base value in high regards and sought after strong trans-humans: an evolved species of Humans that were compatible with Ability Dews that were found on alien planets and could extract and use different types of supernatural Abilities themselves. Quinn's parents were sent on an obvious su**ide-mission on the battlefront of some planet by the Governance of Earth, to 'fight and serve' their home-planet by fighting off the opposition consisting of a terrorist group called the "Elementals", and secretly, a whole another unknown enemy... Receiving their last, parting gift, Quinn got his hands on something that was completely out of scope for normal Humans, or any other intelligent race that could possibly or ever will exsist. It was of unknown origins when his parents found it, and only he would be the one to discover its true functioning and creator. He would become something that was nothing like a Human... he would forsake his life and living, only to find the truth about the artefact and why it chose him. He would fight enemies of the peaceful inhabitants of Earth in hopes to protect those that he once loved, when he was still Human. Furthermore, he would fight other beings in the shadows of different realms; discover secrets of the Universe and the one above it all. No, not God; nor the Great Old Ones. Nay, not even the Outer Gods. But, the one and only... above creation itself: a dream that birthed it; the Absolute Being. Existing in the Real World, out of this wretched Dream of his. Only by meeting his real origins and awakening, would Quinn be able to escape this accursed cycle that only he knew the truth of; alone, would he protect the mortals... in hopes of protecting only those that he loved.

The hunting grounds

"I JUST got myself fixed you know!" Now even more pissed off, Quinn punched Zayne in is stomach with his left hand which was completely fine.

"Now, now!" Sen tried calming Quinn down.

"Hah? What do you mens by that?!" Zayne suddenly spoke out. By the look of it, he seemed to be talking to himself. "Another one huh...?" he spoke again with a sadistic smile.

***

"Didn't I tell you to be careful just 2 days ago? How did you get into another fight so quickly" the nurse lectured him.

"I apologise..."

***

'I wanna give that Zayne brat another punch...!' he thought getting out of the room. 'Come to think of it... he was talking to himself wasn't he?'

It was bothering him for a while. Thinking all that just to get interrupted by Luna again, "Quinn, I wanted to talk to you about something".

"...What is it?"

"When did you get an ability? And it's not a low level either is it?". Quinn knew that she would ask this question sooner or later so he had an answer ready.

***

"... I see" she said after Quinn was done explaining, "To think that the government would give a high level ability dew to you".

"I was told that your parents worked for the government but... what role did they play for the government to hold them in such a high regard?".

After thinking for a few seconds as Quinn was about to respond, Luna apologized for her rudeness.

"It's fine, my parents were... assassins, the both them".

'I shouldn't tell her about the ring I got that day'.

"Come on, it should be our turn to go through the portal by now" Luna said walking towards the crowd of people.

***

"Group 17- Sen, Luna, Petra, Quinn and Zayne; please enter the portal. 'Navigation ticks will be given to all group members".

Stepping into the artificial square shaped yellow portal, the group was now inside a camp of some sort. The place had all sorts of shops to exchange beast crystals with.

The watches that everyone had been wearing had a 3D map of the planet sent to them just before going into the portal.

Using the map Quinn now knew just how big by the camp was. "Looks like it'll be taking a lot of time just to get out of this place to the hunting grounds" he said.

'I still have the one magic essence of the goblin I defeated the day I got this system... I should sell it'.

'I'll go and look around to see if I'm able to sell it here...' Quinn thought as his shadow moved from his own to Luna's. 'Now I can tell if anything happens'.

After bidding the rest of the group farewell he went off to find someone who can buy the essence.

—————

'Why does no one wanna buy it...?!' Quinn thought about all the time he had wasted, 'I understand that it's just one and it would be better to buy a bunch at once but...hmm?'.

"I only need one more...! Why does no one here have a magic core with them" he heard someone grumble. It was an old man who had a bucket full of magic essence next to him.

'Maybe I can sell it to him' he thought as he walked towards the old man. "Excuse me, are you buying magic cores...?".

"Ah...yeh, ya got any?" the old man asked him.

'Finally...!'

***

'One core is a 100 credits? I thought it would've been lesser' Quinn was satisfied so he went off to the where the others were.

'Thanks to the skill I used on Luna, it'll be easy to find them' he thought, 'thanks to the skill I don't have to waste another damn hour navigating...'

'Let's see... they're out in the hunting rounds already, huh'.

—————

"Thank you for your patronage!"

As Quinn walked out of the front door of a mansion like building, something merged with his watch.

It was a license for hunting beasts on the planet.

'The old man who I sold the core to looked exactly like a dwarf from some manga...what's he even going to do with so many magic cores' Quinn thought as he remembered how many core he had seen with the man.

'He didn't look like he works with the companies that manage magic cores and ability dews'.

He then saw Petra just in front of him; 'isn't she supposed to be with the others? She seems to be talking with someone'.

Soon after, she turned around just to be surprised by Quinn staring at her.

"What are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be with the rest of the team?" she asked, "and... did you hear me speaking with someone...?".

"Same goes for you, why weren't you with them too?" Quinn asked her, "and you don't have to worry about it... I didn't hear anything".

For a moment, she seemed relieved. "I had some personal work to be done so I came back. But now I'm done and was about to go back" she replied, "how bout we go together?".

"Sure... I needed another person to head out with either way"
