9. Who Refuses In Heart

It was a really bad day for Luna Lee and it got worse at the end of the day when her boyfriend, Lucas Lewis, came home and they had dinner together. Then, Lucas said that Olivia Gonzales wanted to meet her.

"Uuh..." Luna mumbled, looking unhappy, "Did you tell your mother that I'm pregnant?" she guessed. Because, there was no way Olivia Gonzales would want to meet her for no reason.

So, Lucas nodded and said, "Yeah, I told her."

Luna cursed in her heart.

'Huh, why did Lucas have to tell that annoying woman? I'm sure Mrs Lewis doesn't even care about the baby in my womb. She must just want to win the heart of her son. Unlucky!' Luna thought to herself.

Luna Lee dislikes Olivia Gonzales, actually the same as Olivia Gonzales dislikes her. This is an open secret. Moreover, there was an incident in the past that made Luna Lee unlike Olivia a lot. Only if it wasn't for Luna Lee who loved Lucas so much, she would never accept Lucas back.

Really, in Luna Lee's life, Mrs Lewis was a bad woman. Women who use power arbitrarily. The woman who made Luna sink so deeply. But now, Lucas said that Mrs. Lewis wanted to see her. It really doesn't make sense.

Unknowingly, Luna's finger grip on the fork tightened and Luna Lee's thoughts were interrupted by Lucas' question, once again.

"Luna? Hey, what do you think? If you don't want to see my mom, that's fine. Don't force it. I'll tell my mother," Lucas said, looking at the firm grip of Luna's finger on the fork she was holding.

Luna, who was aware of the direction Lucas was looking at, began to loosen her fingers on the fork and smiled as if there was nothing to worry about.

Luna said, “Oh, I don't mind, Lucas. Absolutely not. She is your mom, the grandmother of our baby. Why should I object? No. No. Certainly not." She shook her head lightly.

"I'm grateful. I thought that you still hate my mom, Luna," Lucas said, smiling wider. He also breathed a sigh of relief and patted the back of his pregnant lover's hand.

Luna shook her head. She didn't want to show Lucas her dislike of Olivia Gonzales. After all, that woman was the mother of the person she loved the most, despite having a very bad nature attitude.

“Because of what happened in the past? No, Lucas. I can't keep hating someone, especially if she's your mom. It will not be good for me and for my life. Life will go on, no matter what happens. I've been thinking lately, Lucas, if that didn't happen at that time, would it be possible for us to be together like we are now? Are we going to fight for our relationship? Can we recognize each other's feelings? Yes, Lucas. These are all paths of life and we have to go through them to get to happiness. And I," Luna gulped at her little lie, "didn't hate Olivia at all. I love her as much as I love you, Lucas."

Hearing Luna's long words made Lucas smile even wider. This man felt proud inside his chest.

"You really are a perfect woman, Luna. Seems like there’s no one amazing woman like you. I am very happy to have you. Our baby must also be very happy to be in the belly of a very compassionate mother. I love you, Luna," Lucas said as he grabbed one of Luna's hands and kissed the back of his lover's hand.

"I love you too, Lucas," replied Luna Lee.

"So," Lucas said looking at Luna expectantly, "When can we meet my mom, honey?"

Luna was silent for a moment. Then answered.

"Erm… maybe next month, honey. Because… erm, I have a lot of office work to do. Miss Travolta has been mad at me and at the office workers since yesterday. I've been chasing a deadline for reporting on everything for the past three months and it's been quite exhausting for me.”

But it seems Lucas somewhat objected to Luna's reasoning. It was clear from his frowning skepticism. The problem was precisely this man who seemed to object.

"Next month? Isn't that too long, Luna? How about next week? I think Tuesday is a nice day to meet. I'll ask Ivy to schedule our dinner with mom," Lucas suggested in a tone as smooth as silk.

Luna answered again, more like a dodge.

"Sorry, Lucas. I don't think that's possible either. Sunday next is when Mila Stones and I —you know she's my co-worker— are having dinner at the bar and I wanted to say goodbye to her too.”

"A goodbye? To Stones? What happened to her?"

"Oh, it's nothing. Really, it's nothing," replied Luna Lee. This time, it was clear that the change in Luna's face went from sour to a bit cheerful.

Luna continued even though Lucas didn't urge her, "Actually, Mila will come out of office recently?”

"Why?" Lucas asked. His brows furrowed again. Now he was slicing meat and bringing the meat into his mouth.

"That… Oh, you'll be surprised to hear this too, Lucas."

"What? Just say it."

"Mila Stones was proposed to by her boyfriend and they intend to go on an overseas trip during their engagement. Isn't that amazing, Lucas?"

"Yeah, great. But it's not that amazing, anyway," Lucas Lewis said, sounding like he was envious and feeling belittled. In fact, Lucas added, "I can also take you on trips abroad if you want. It was really easy for me, you know that, right?"

Luna wanted to justify it but seeing Lucas's arrogant attitude made Luna become irritated with him and made Luna pretend not to listen when her lover was talking. He made such a ridiculous face that Lucas pinched his cheeks. But before long, Lucas returned to discussing the schedule for a meeting between Luna and Olivia, her mother.

"So, when do you think you'll be able to meet my mother, Luna?"

Although it doesn't sound urgent, Lucas Lewis's two questions are enough to prove that he is not a person who likes to waste time. Luna Lee also understood that.

Because Lucas is a potential leader of a large company. So Luna sighed faintly and said, “Okay, two more weeks. give me two more weeks.”

"Okay," Lucas said with a satisfied face, "Thanks, honey. I love you."

"Me too."
