Cannonball

"Thank you. Who is it for?" Jax was sincere, as this recommendation could be huge for him since it came from Timold.

"Just go to the Magma Mountain workshop and give it to the owner. Don't mention my name though." Timold cackled and put his visor down before going back to working on the rest of the bullets.

Jax wondered what their relation was but let it for now. He would probably find out soon enough when he gets to the city of Karmen.

Karmen was it the north, and Yexir in the east. Both were big commercial hubs, Karmen for blacksmithing and other artisan trades while Yexir was known for its exotic foods and ports. Since they were on the edge of the kingdom where more natural resources were they were big spots for trade within the Bergeld Kingdom in the South.

Jax went outside with his new ammo and a new, regular uncommon gun that he 'borrowed.' He took it since it didn't have an extra effect and he hadn't paid for it. He didn't know if Timold noticed, but he planned to return it… maybe.

He didn't know how loading it worked since he couldn't automatically reload using the system. So he decided to just shove it in and see if it worked.

He moved the heavy bullet to the mouth of the barrel and was shocked to see the barrel open up like a mouth. He moved the first sized bullet farther in causing the barrel to stretch like it was made of some flexible material.

It was a creepy process and ended with the bullet disappearing like it was swallowed by a creature.

[You have loaded 1/1 Ant Armor Heavy Bullet]

He got a little notification and took his aim at the target. It was about 30 meters away so Jax wasn't worried about missing but more of destroying the simple target.

*BOOOM*

Jax's ears rung as the heavy bullet left the chamber. He ducked down out of reaction and almost dropped the gun. He took a breather and let his ears come back to him before looking at the carnage.

He look at the target, and…. nothing. It was perfectly fine. Confused, Jax looked around the area of the target thinking he missed.

He walked over into the dirt area before the target to find a bunch of dirt had been kicked up and a crater had formed with the bullet inside.

Jax widened his eyes, "This is as far as it goes?"

It was quite disappointing, the bullet had barely gone 20 meters before hitting the ground. It probably wouldn't be very effective unless it was more like 10 and 15 was pushing it.

He picked up the bullet which had cracks forming on it. He was hoping that its strength would let him reuse the bullets but it seems it couldn't handle the force from the pistol.

He was quite disappointed in this endeavor so far. He thought he'd be able to obtain a cannon like weapon with these bullets but they require him to be so close to use effectively.

It also had a long cooldown on it. The gun had a 1 minute cooldown just for the heavy bullet. And it meant he couldn't swap to normal bullets until he cleared it.

There was also the heavy knock back and the ear splitting ignition of the system. He couldn't tell if the system used gunpowder or some weird magic but the guns made the same sound as in real life, but there was no smokey after smell.

He left the broken bullet in the crater and went back to get another. Once a minute was over, his gun swallowed the bullet and he walked up to around 10 meters before the target.

He also stuffed his bandana crudely in his right ear so at least he wouldn't go deaf temporarily.

He pulled the trigger and the cannonball like bullet left the chamber and sent pain up his arms.

He had mistakenly used only one arm on the first shot and felt like he tore something, if that was even possible in a game.

His arms felt numb but it was bearable. His hands shot up when the bullet flew out of the chamber and he carefully watched it fly.

The cannonball left the chamber like it was being spit up and quickly found it's way to the target.

*Crash!*

He missed the bullseye, but it didn't matter too much since the entire target was pretty much destroyed.

There was a huge gaping hole on the right side of the target but cracks had formed through the whole thing.

It looked really to fall apart, and when Jax touched it, it crumbled to the floor.

"Well, it seems pretty strong… I guess I can use it as a last resort/sneak attack from close range. The reloading sucks so it'll have to be a last-ditch effort for sure."

Jax left the damage alone and walked back to the workshop and saw Timold waiting near the workshop door. He still had his gloves on but had something in his hands.

"How was it?" Timold didn't give him a chance to ask but Jax didn't mind.

"It's good. High power but short range. I'll have to get pretty close in order to deal good damage."

Timold nodded then pulled out the item in his hand. It reminded Jax of a sniper bullet, but it was a bit bigger. Jax raised his eyebrow and Timold explained.

"This is a Heavy Piercer, similar to how it sounds, it's a heavy round that pierces armor. I took the liberty of making 6 of 'em, leaving 80 somethin' of the heavy bullets for ya."

The Dwarf tossed the bullet over to him and he felt its weight. It looked to have similar dimensions to a 50-cal sniper bullet but a bit longer. Jax was pleasantly surprised that modern weaponry was in the game. He thought he would only get to play with old-school packing weapons.

"Thank you. If I had known you could make these I would've asked for them. These seem more versatile than the cannonballs." Jax pointed behind him to the mess he left and Timold chuckled.

"Well I can't tell ya all my secrets can I? Don't worry about payin' for 'em, its been a while since I've gotten to make stuff other than armor and swords."

Jax nodded. Both him and Timold had come to a silent agreement about how they do business. Jax doesn't question the price and Timold makes it quick and gets new and better items from Jax to work with. He also gets a break from the bothersome player base so it seemed like Timold got more out of this.

On top of it, Timold liked how Jax could care less about getting his attention, although, he wished he was a bit nicer to the lady he met last time. He could tell, well probably anyone could tell, that she liked Jax but it wasn't his job to tell him to cherish her more.

"If that'll be all, then show yerself to the door, I need to clean up 'ear." Timold looked over to the destroyed target range. Jax took out the uncommon pistol he borrowed and tossed it to Timold who easily caught it.

The old man raised an eyebrow and Jax walked away while answering, "I borrowed that. Didn't know if it would break my guns. I left money for this sword as well."

He pulled out a sword and tapped it against the ground before storing it away again. Jax looked like he was trying to hard to look cool, but he was just too lazy to care about certain things and liked to save time where he could.

He didn't need to say every single detail and Timold was wise enough to get what he meant. Jax left the shop leaving Timold to grumble as he cleaned.

Jax was going to look for a caravan to head to the next city when he heard a system notification.

Looking at it he saw it was from Father Francis, his eyes widened at the few words on his screen.
