Chapter Forty Relaxed

Ten minutes after Brandon pulled away from her gate her phone rang. "Hi Ty, how are you?" "Good, where are you?" He asks. "I'm home." She replied. "Open the door." He said walking through the gate. "Open the door….Ty…where are you?" "Open the door, Kayla," He snaps.

"Open the door, he's outside? Oh my, goodness did he see Brandon leave? Oh no, please God no, this can't be happening. She thought as she open the door with shaky fingers. Ty steps inside and stands next to the door.

"Where is your car?"He asks. "Um...Trisha has it." She mumbled. "When since is Trisha driving your car?" He asks raising his brow. "Hers isn't working so I lend her mine." She said nervously. "I never thought I would see you here again." She said twisting her hands nervously because she knew that Brandon would be back shortly.

"Don't worry I'm not staying. What happened to the money I have been giving you to give your mother?" He asks sharply. "Um….what?" She asks surprised. "The money I've been giving you to give your mother and sisters, where is it?" He asks again.

"I ….I….gave her just like you told me to." She stammered. "What did I tell you about lying to me?" He asks angrily. "I was busy; I'll give it to her as soon as I can." She said without looking at him. "Oh, so you're telling me that you've been busy for the last eight months, right Kayla? Because I spoke to your mother earlier and she said she hasn't seen a cent of the money she was supposed to be getting, none of it Kayla, so where is all that money?"

"I just haven't gotten around to it yet." She mumbles. "That money was supposed to help your mother and sisters Kay; you know how hard things are for them, what the hell is wrong with you?" He demands. "How can you treat your family like this?" "Oh please, spear me, what has my family ever done for me?" She asks in disgust.

"It's not my responsibility to take care of them, I wasn't the one who told her to go spread her legs and get two more children after my dad died." She said in a hostile tone. "Bite your tongue, that's your mother you're talking about, have some respect." He snaps.

"Why should I respect her when she doesn't even respect herself, having two kids for that broke pocket bum who walked away from her; let him take care of her." She said angrily. Ty took a deep breath and let it out slowly.

"Who are you looking for?" He asks following her eyes as they keep looking through the open door. "Trisha." She said hastily. "And what, she's going to sneak your car back in the driveway without you knowing about it?" He snaps and slammed the door shut.

"Damn it, Kay, you're her firstborn and if you want to get technical then yes it is your job to look out for your mom and sisters but that wasn't something you needed to worry about because that money was mine, not yours. All you had to do was put it in her hands, nothing more." He states flatly.

"Oh really? My mother was supposed to look after me, take care of me but she couldn't because of them and then I'm supposed to give them my man hard earn money, no way in hell, they are on their own, she doesn't deserve it anyway." She said her fist clenched.

"So you deliberately took the money for yourself?" He asks folding his arms across his chest. "Of course I did, you're my man, I'm the one you should be taking care of, not them." "Wow, you couldn't possibly sound any more selfish if you tried, goodbye Kayla." He said opening the door and walking outside.

"I'm not the one who is selfish; she is, so why are you angry at me?" She whines. "This conversation is pointless; I swear, you could make a nun sin." He sneered as he walked down the driveway. "Baby wait, please." She said grabbing his hand. "Are you still going to give me the twenty grand I ask you for?" She asks with a pout.

"No, I'm going to give it to your mother instead and another thing, avoid me for the next few days or I might say something that I will regret." He said and walk away from her.

Later that evening Caleb entered the kitchen and knew that something was wrong because his family were all sitting around with a solemn look on their faces. "Oh boy, what's wrong now? Is it Janice? Where is she?" He asks in a worried tone. "Janice Is fine but remember the body of the unidentified man they found downtown yesterday?" Fabian asks. 'Oh great, I killed the bastard.' He thought remembering what he did to the man in the parking lot.

"Um… yeah; what about him?" Caleb asks and braced himself for the answer. "Well, it has now been confirmed. It's Leon." Anna said and Caleb breathes a sigh of relief. "So what's with the long faces; that's a good thing yes? Pity I couldn't get my hands on him first but I'm glad someone did. The news said that he was shot right?" Caleb asks pouring himself a glass of juice.

"Yes but the police doesn't know by whom or why but since he was an escaped convict they may never find out and please don't go doing a victory dance in front of Janice okay; the news has really shaken her up," Fabian said. "He was the first man for her and her first love not to mention the father of her child and now Faith will never know her real father," Ty said.

"Even if that bastard had lived to be a hundred, it still wouldn't have been a good idea for Faith to know him. At least now he can't ruin her life or hurt her mother." Caleb adds and continues when no one said anything.

"Oh for God's sake, could you guys quit it with the faces already. Janice has been hiding out in this house for months now because of that creep, at least now she can stop looking over her shoulders every time she steps outside." He finishes in frustration.

"Janice is one of the most gentle and loving people I've ever met and as much as he hurt her she still didn't want him dead and she's still trying to come to terms with the news." His mom said.

"You left out forgiving," Anna said. "Yeah, she is." Her mom nods. "Whether alive or dead he still took something very precious from her; she can't have any more children because of him and that's something she will have to live with for the rest of her life. I'm…I'm…going to check on her." Ty said leaving the kitchen.

Fabian stood by the door of the sitting room and smile as he notice the look of total admiration on Ty's face as he watch Janice, Anna, and two of his female cousin playing in the rain, he seems to have totally forgotten that he was holding a sleeping Faith, he seems to be hypnotized as his eyes followed her every move.

Ty didn't even glance his way when he sat beside him. "If you're not careful you're going to drop her," Fabian said and laughs as Tyler jumped. "Oh…um…hi, what are you doing home? I thought you had a date," Ty asks uneasily.

"It was canceled, obsessive parents and all, so…is it me or does she seems a little more relax now that she doesn't have to be looking over her shoulder all the time?" Fabian asks still smiling. "She is more relaxed, she's also free to go on with her life, free to find love again, free to leave m…." Ty's voice trails off but he didn't need to finish because Fabian knew exactly what he was about to say.

"You are worried; aren't you?" Fabian asks. "About what?" "That she'll leave and move on with her life now that Leon isn't a threat anymore." Tyler clears his throat and tightens his grip on Faith.

"Move on with another man, that is what you mean right?" Ty asks. "Yeah, I mean she's a wonderful person and she deserves to be loved, she needs a good man to take care of her, protect her and treat her with the respect she deserves, hint…hint," Fabian laughs punching Ty's shoulder.

"I know she deserves all that but the thought of her with another man makes me literally sick." Ty said with a groan. "Why, it's not like you are in love with her or plans to make a future with her." Fabian said raising his brow. "What if I am and what if I wish I could?" Ty replied.

"Then I would ask why you're still with Kayla?" Ty groan again, got up and gently laid Faith in her carrier, took a deep breath, and run his fingers through his hair that he now realizes hasn't been cut in a while, which made him sigh as he turn to his brother. "It's because the child she is carrying might still be mine and if it isn't, then one day I might still be able to have one of my own with her." He said with a heavy sigh.

"I wouldn't be able to do that with Janice, Fabian I know that it isn't her fault that she can't have any more children but ever since I was twenty I've wanted a child of my own and to be with Janice would mean giving up on that dream forever." He said with tears in his eyes.

"I have known for some time now that you have feelings for Janice and the fact that she can't bear children is what is keeping you away from her. So if all that is true why did you kiss her at my party?" Fabian asks. "Oh, I can assure you it wasn't planned. Fabian, she felt so damn good in my arms," He said closing his eyes and biting his lips. "For a moment it was as if time stops, as if we were the only ones there and when she slowly lifts her head and look into my eyes, it was as if I couldn't breathe, and let's just say the rest is history." He groans.

He walks to the window and smiles as he watches the ladies chase each other across the lawn, "I've always been a one-woman man brother but for the first time in my life I'm actually in love with two women."

"Ouch." Fabian laugh. "If I had to choose based on how my body react to them then I would definitely choose Janice because she ignite something inside me that I've never felt before." He said as Fabian listens intently.

"But if I had to choose based on how badly I want a child, then I would choose Kayla," He said looking down at Faith. "I hear you little brother, and after everything you've been through in your life, I'm praying for a happy ending for you and that having this child will actually make Kayla a better person" He said hugging his brother.

"From your lips to God's ear brother," "And I can guarantee you that he's on the case, so be still and know that he's God little bro, now I'm going to call those young ladies inside before they all catch a cold," Fabian said and left the room.

Tyler had just finished a consultation with three other doctors and was on his way to the locker room when his phone rang, he checks it and saw that it was Kayla calling for the fifteenth time, his phone was on silent so he hadn't gotten the others, he was in no mood to get into another argument with her so he cut off the call as he enters the room.

He was getting his bag from his locker when Martin enters the room. "You know, I wonder if people knew your dirty little secret if they would still be so quick to get your opinion on stuff?" He asks sarcastically. "And what exactly is my dirty little secret Martin?" Ty asks in the same tone.

"Oh, only that you took an oath to save lives, but underneath you're nothing but a heartless cold blooded killer." Martin sneered. "Ty chuckles and shakes his head. "You know what, something has been eating away at you for some time now and you've been verbally attacking me every chance you get, but what I don't understand is, if you have such a big problem with me or what you think I supposedly did, why don't you just say it, spit it out before it choke you." Ty said and suck his teeth as he put his notes in his bag.

He then continues as Martin just stand there saying nothing. "Go on, get it off your chest because honestly, you're beginning to piss me off with all your accusations; I was wrong to leave Kayla, I'm solely responsible for her miscarriage, I'm a heartless bastard, blah..Blah..Blah, don't you ever get tired of repeating yourself?" Ty asks annoyed.

Martin's face became red with anger and he narrows his eyes on Tyler. "Hmm….you really believes you're going to get away with it, don't you?" Martin asks angrily. "The only idiotic thing I did was leave my fiancée here and go to Japan but she practically begged me to go, so I did, and I didn't find out that my child or the child I thought was mine was dead until I came back here and she still haven't given me a good explanation as to why she did that but I forgive her anyway and I'm sick and tired of you throwing it in my face." Ty said coldly.

"Temper…temper, careful T.J mind your heart, wouldn't want you to black out," Martin chuckles nastily. "But you know what rich boy, you can get as angry as you want, but it's not going to change the fact that you knew that the child wasn't yours since day one," Martin said with a wicked smirk on his face.

"And you did what you needed to, to get rid of it." "Get rid of it? What the hell are you talking about Martin? I wanted that child so badly, the last thing I wanted was for Kayla to have a miscarriage." "That's the thing T.J, you wanted your child, not a child and you knew that she would do anything for you, even the unthinkable" Martin said folding his arms across his chest.

"But what you didn't know was that she came to me and Susan and told us everything, we were there and we saw firsthand what your disgusting demand did to her, and soon so will everyone else in this damn hospital including your two devoted friends." Martin said and storm from the room before Ty could say anything else.
